Wrap up Web
Hi If I try to open a document using File/Open nothing happens, the app crashes and I have to kill the process using task manager. If I right click the app icon in Task Bar I can see the files in the recent list. If I then click one of those files some successfully open others do not. Either way files are being left half open in Windows Explorer so are then crashing the app Thanks Edited March 29 by Wrap up Web
Komatös
Hi @Wrap up Web and welcome to the forums. Make sure that the GPU drivers and Windows are up-to-date. If this is the case, hold down the CTRL key while you start Affinity Designer A selection box for resetting various settings will now appear. In addition to the options already selected, check the Disable Hardware Acceleration box. Click on Clear. Wrap up Web
Hi I pressed the 'clear' button but the issue persists. If it is any help when I try to close Designer 2 I get the notice below then have to end the task using task manager. "Quitting... At least one file is currently being opened. Please wait for files to load before quitting the application" Thanks
Staff Callum Posted April 2 Staff Share Posted April 2 Hi Wrap up Web, Welcome to the forums Please could you try downloading the latest version of the .NET framework available from the below link? As this has fixed cases of this issue in the past. https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet-framework If this doesn't solve your issue please could you try switching to the MSIEXE version of Designer if you haven't already? https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/180014-affinity-v2-windows-installers-are-available-as-unsandboxed-msiexe-as-well-as-sandboxed-msix/ Let me know if you have any issues. Return
Did you uninstall the msix versions as suggested and installed the msi/exe versions found here in my screenshot? if so, the link to the programs in your screenshot is the wrong link, probably a leftover from the msix installation. It should be found in C:\Program Files unless installed elsewhere.

Return
Where are the files located? Don't use cloud services like onedrive or external drives/sticks or the like. Copy the file to a normal, non cloud controlled, folder and try to open again. Try the ctrl+ holding and clicking the exe again and select the items to clear again and afterwards restart the PC to flush all leftovers and temp files. APoster
When you go into preferences -> performance, what renderer is Designer using? I had a seemingly identical problem in publisher and the way I resolved it was setting the renderer to explicitly use the nvidia card in my machine, rather than the Intel Xe graphics or the 'default' setting.
