Crashing on image export, iOS 17

Recommended Posts

The current Affinity releases have no updates for iPadOS 17 compatibility. When this compatibility is added, it will likely be in the 2.2 beta.

They haven't announced any changes there, yet, either, but you might try the 2.2  Beta and see if it works better. If you're not already participating, you can get more information here:

indeed we have not made any fixes for the iOS beta yet in 2.2.0. It is early days for iOS 17 and I would expect Apple to mend a number of the issues in future betas, and then we will address the remainder.

When exporting images of experiencing a crash immediately after. The image appears to save just fine.  I'm using an 11 inch iPad Pro M1 with iOS 17 beta 3

I am waiting for the 17 public beta, didn't fancy risking the developer beta before the Serif devs have had a chance to try it !

And there you go, iPadOS17 Public Beta appeared today, and I immediately noticed these new messages appear when importing from Apple Photos into the Affinity beta apps, just publishing them here, not sure of what they all mean yet.

FYI crash still happens on the public beta. And it isn't when exporting it's when you exit the export menu. If you go to export and then hit cancel it crashes. I'm losing lots of work due to this because auto save isn't kicking in frequently enough. Hope there's a fix for this soon.

You really should not be using iPadOS beta software if this is important for you. It won’t be stable enough until September or October and I would not expect Serif to spend time looking at any of these issues for several months as they are often fixed by Apple iPadOS changes.

EDIT: I confirm the export crash in V2.1 and V2.2 beta, however if you export->share to apple photos instead the app does not crash.

You can change that in the application Settings, General. But if you must use the iPadOS beta (I, personally, wouldn't) I would recommend manually Saving frequently, using different file names.

We do realise that installing beta software may be risky and that we should not complain if our vital software throws up bugs. It is tempting to get the latest OS though.
I’m sure that all, mentioning problems with AF Photo etc with IPad os 17, do so in case they have not been spotted before (or indeed to confirm behaviour)

I am confident that the AF apps will be sorted by the time that the release OS 17 has been published. In the meantime, I for one will be enjoying the new features of the public beta on my iPad Pro while using AF Photo on my iMac which has not been updated
