Gianni Becattini Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I cannot find a way to convert from frame text to artistic. In Layer there is not "Convert to art" as the help say, or I am not capable to see it. The opposite is easy, it is also in the contextual menu. Thanks Quote www.k100.biz

Gianni Becattini Posted July 9, 2023 Author Posted July 9, 2023 understood, thanks. however the photo help says that Quote www.k100.biz
GarryP Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 (edited) Can you show us where in the Photo Help it says that? A screenshot showing the entire Help/browser window would be useful for orientation purposes. Edited July 9, 2023 by GarryP Quote
Gianni Becattini Posted July 9, 2023 Author Posted July 9, 2023 You are right, Garry. The point is that the Google search gives Designer as first result of the search, but if you look at the web address it is really Designer, not Photo. Sorry for losing your time and thanks Old Bruce 1 Quote www.k100.biz

Search hint: You can restrict the search to the appropriate application and version by using the site: keyword in your search. For example, in your web search engine, you could add one of these: site:affinity.help/photo2 site:affinity.help/photo site:affinity.help/photoipad2 site:affinity.help/photoipad Similarly you could replace photo above with designer or with publisher Oufti 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Iron2Iron Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I am in Designer, and just learned of this "convert to art text" option from a video tutorial by Technically Trent, 1 year old. I cannot find why this option does not exist for me as of today, May 30, 2025, and am wondering if in some of the updates since that time this option is no longer available in Designer? I am running version 2.6.3. I will included screenshots from the tutorial at the point where he converts to art text (dark setting photo) and then a screenshot of mine (light setting) Quote
carl123 Posted May 30 Posted May 30 That option only appears when you have selected an object that can be converted to Art Text, like a Frame Text layer Not sure what sort of layer you have selected at the moment Iron2Iron 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Iron2Iron Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Carl123, thanks. For background, I am using the exact same font to follow along with his tutorial, and am doing the same steps. The item is selected, and in his tutorial, he has the art text option and I do not, although the item is selected. See screenshots. Quote

The video didn't show that step, I went back several times to follow him very carefully, still not seeing it, and then I added a text frame, copied the item in the text frame (like he had done, I had copied several of these design fonts onto my work area, and just moved them over). Then, inside the text frame, I had the option to convert it to art text.... felt pretty stupid after I saw it.....Oh, the heights and depths of this learning curve...... R C-R and lepr 1 1 Quote

The issue here is if the text object (not the font or fonts used in it) in the document (its work area) is already an Art Text object, like @lepr mentioned above. So for this just ignore the font & use the Layers panel to see if it is art or frame text. Perhaps I should have not muddied the waters with more explanation past my first sentence, "Thank, i had pretty much figured that out." I had discovered the answer to my question and was able to solve the problem prior to lepr's response, and yes, using the layers panel to see if it was art of frame as you both have said. Thanks for the response! This forum is super responsive and helpful and I appreciate it very much! Quote
