After taking a snapshot in Foxit PDF Reader, the clipboard content does not paste into Photo or Designer. Nor does it show when "Create from Clipboard" is used. It creates a layer, but the layer is empty. The snapshot appears in other software. If you copy the original snapshot in other software and then paste into Photo, it appears.

It sounds like Foxit PDF reader is copying to the clipboard in a format incompatible with our software.

According to Free Clipboard Viewer one of the formats Foxit PDF Reader puts in the clipboard is Bitmap, or Bitmap DIB, or Bitmap DIBV5:

But it shows up in Photo 2 (Beta) as a transparent image with a standard Paste (Ctrl+V).

Paste Special shows Device Independent Bitmap DIB and Device Independent Bitmap DIBV5, but both also show up as transparent image layers.

I see the same issue with a snapshot freeware i've been using reliably forever (prtscr)

Worked flawlessly for all affinity photo 1.x version

It pastes... nothing (on initial V2 or newer v2.1.0)

:(

Solved the issue by uninstalling prtscr and opting for greenshot screen capture freeware.

Hello @tomi.cseh and welcome to the forums.

If you are using Windows 10/11, you can use Windows' own snipping tool. To do this, press Windows key + shift + S.

My company recently switched to Foxit PDF Editor and the Affinity Suite, and we've been running into this problem as well. No other software has issues with snapshots pulled from Foxit and the Clipboard, so this does seem to be a bug with how Affinity is reading the bitmap data.

Nir Sofer’s free InsideClipboard utility will show you what formats are available on the clipboard.

TBH: This seems to be more a problem with Foxit using an outdated file format (BMP) for snapshots, with no options to use an alternative file format.  I can't really see why it should be a problem, there are plenty of other ways to take a snapshot and, come to that, plenty of other PDF readers.

Even Photoshop 26.3.0 shows an empty layer. But Yes, 1.10 does it handle flawless in comparison to 2.6.0 and now for the good news: AP 2.6.2 inserts the clipboard data correctly.
