Can't verify bought license V2

Recommended Posts

I bought the universal license. Can log into my account, can see the license - but the programs won't let me verify this license. It seems the same login data as for the website does not work from within the Apps to verify. Anything I'm doing wrong?

Hi DarkClown,

if you haven't yet created an Affinity ID, you need to do so from the application you have purchased the universal license in. This registers the purchase with Affinity, and you can then sign into this ID in the other 2 apps, unlocking the app for use.

In your case, you need to return to Affinity Photo and select the 'My Account' option in the top right. In this dialog you should see an option to 'Register' the purchase with an Affinity ID, which will allow you to create an Affinity ID and link your purchase to it.

Once linked, you can now open Designer / Publisher, sign into your newly created Affinity ID and the purchase will be activated.

I bought the license from within the Affinity website I did all my previous purchases from as well. Beeing logged in of course. I guess this email is also my Affinity ID. From within the App it tells me that it can't connect to the server.

Try changing your login password on the affinity website ... and try again

Do you mean on the forum or on the Affinity Store website? They are not necessarily the same, & are independent of each other.

The forum has nothing to do with the licensing process. The passowrd for the Affinity ID (that's the login to your account on the Affinity Website) may be the reason. I personally find it confusing to talk about an "Affinity-ID" when in fact they mean the login to your website account. And I could not find a proper explanation for "Affinity-ID" anywhere. Seems to be a just made up name to sound cool and irritate people .... I's not something you have to generate or apply for ...(@R C-R: I'm sure you are aware of this - it was just an explanation for some people that might read this and are confused as well ...)

Have you tried uninstalling all Affinity V2 apps, restarting your computer, and downloading the Affinity apps again?

I had some issues registering the apps. I initially used the apps in trial mode — I don't know if that has anything to do with the registration issue. In any case, I was able to register after uninstall, restart, downloading V2 again.

I tried that and it did not work either. is there a way that I can still use the software even without registering it?

Another user posted a similar issue.

The cause there was a password with characters that where not evaluated by whatever server software Affinity is using. I think he made a new password in his profile settings (Affintiy store site, not the forum site). The new password did not contain special characters as far as I remember. After that change he was able to log in from within the bought App and register ist.

That caused the problem in my case .... I had a ' in my former password fopr the Affinity account as a special character. There was no  problem with logging into the Affinity Website and accessing my account details (taking the money is a lot easier than confirming a license ;-) ) - The programs on the other sider were struggling with this special character when confirming the license. So changing the password and excluding this character in my Affinity account did the trick for me ... There may be other characters as well to cause such problems (support never got back to me on this so I have no clue)

You have to change the password while logged in to your account on the Affinity website ...

I used the "! ,@, %" symbols and that did not work either. I also tried making a password without any special characters and that did not work also.  Also even after exiting the registration window the program does not start up. any thing else I can do to be able to use the program?

No, it won't startup any more after not beeing able to register the product for (3? 4?) days - so despite you bought the product you don't even have a 30 day testphase any more. Nighmare - even more after a programming mistake they caused themself. They just kill the programm - actually an unbarable decision!

This should be addressed in the first patch, sorry for the difficulties you experienced

Perhaps you could send an email to affinity@serif.com to ask for their help in sorting this password problem.  But please be patient while waiting for an answer.  As noted in the red banner at the top of these Forums sections, the Serif staff is swamped with questions.  In the three weeks and two days since V2 was launched on November 9, almost 5,000 people have joined the Forums for the first time, along with the 164,000 already here, with comments, questions, and general discussions.

Also, in case it may be of any help, here is what one Forum member did to solve his verification problem.
