Export crashes Designer under Ventura Beta 2

As per the title, Designer crashes instantly every time, when selecting 'Export'.

And before I get shouted down, I'm only posting this here for the benefit of others and the hope it gets picked up for a fix, I realise Ventura is beta

Same here. Not only in Designer, but also in photo & publisher. Worked fine for a while under Ventura, but now it happens every time I try to export.

Same here, I think it crashes since Ventura Beta4. With earlier Betas it worked perfectly.

Can you confirm you are running macOS Beta 13 (22A5311f) build please? Are you running it on Intel or Apple Silicon based systems (M1 & M2 chips)? Are you using File > Export command or the Export Persona to export files? Thanks.

Hi @MEB, thanks for your answer. I am running macOS Beta 13 (22A5311f) build on a Mac Mini with M1 chip. The apps crash when I use the File> Export command not when I use the Export Persona. Hope this helps.

If its any help, that's the EXACT same setup I have too.

In addition to crashing on export, I am also no longer able to open all PDFs and all adobe illustrator files (.ai). They all crash as soon as you try to open one in any of the affinity apps.

I’m having same problem. I’ve worked around it (sort of) by “printing” and choosing Adobe PDF format but it’s not ideal.

I am using the latest version of Designer: 1.10.5
This happens every time I try to export
This happens to old and new documents. I cannot even create a new document with a simple square in it and export the document.

I am running Ventura 13.0 Beta (22A5311f) on a M1 13" MacBook Pro with 16gb of RAM
I tried with acceleration on and off, both still crash
Every time I try to export the program crashes. Sometimes it throws an Apple error report. Sometimes it does not
Nothing else is connected to the computer
This seems to be related to Ventura, however, I was exporting a few days ago with no problems and I was on Ventura. So it seems to be a more recent problem.

Thanks for all feedback everyone. Seems opening PDF & Ai files affects both Intel and Apple Silicon based systems, whereas the general Export issues affects Apple Silicon based system only.
Is anyone experiencing crashes in Ventura Beta 4 on Intel based machines when exporting?

I had the same problem on my MacBook Pro 16" M1 Max on Ventura Beta 4 and now I still have this problem on Beta 5.

Same. Crashes on export. Just noticed it today. I am on Ventura 13.0 Beta (22A5311f), Apple M1.

If you create a new MacOS User and log into that user account, the export feature works without an issue until you export to PDF for the first time. It will then start crashing indefinitely when you attempt to export again. I assume this is because it defaults to exporting to PDF.

I was also able to reset the export setting on each app by holding down control key when opening the app and cleared the default selected clearing options. This allows me to use the export function for all except for PDF. In fact, It actually allows me to export to PDF one time before having to clear the user data again to reset it. At least I'm still able to do that before a fix is implemented.

Clearing the user data worked for me. Thank you! Finding a temporary work around was super helpful!

Can confirm that I'm unable to open/import PDF or AI files either in Designer or in Photo while running Mac OS Ventura Beta 5 on a 16" MBP M1 Max. Would appreciate any temporary or permanent fixes for this!

I normally wouldn't have upgraded my production machine to a beta OS but I needed to for compatibility with some other software libraries!

Finally found a fix after exhaustive searching, an uninstall and reinstall and cache clearing. Deleted the Preferences for Affinity/Serif that exist in the "Preferences" folder in "Library." I can now export without a problem. Hope it sticks.

Unfortunately, yes. Publisher 1.10.5 on iMac 5K, (iMac18,3; Quad-Core Intel Core i5) using 13.0 Beta (22A5321d). Crash on export 100% on the cases.

It seems what works as workaround is to

- print the document

- in the printing dialog box, select "open in preview" (it is on the bottom, where th epos is labelled "PDF")

- within Preview save as PDF.

Same here.

Publisher 1.10.5 on iMac 5K, (3,6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9, Radeon Pro Vega 48 8 GB, 27-Zoll (5120 × 2880), 2019) using Ventura Version 13.0 Beta (22A5321d).
Crash on export 100% on the cases. Deleting Prefs works only once.
