  1. [macOS 15.4 Beta] “Could not lock file” error or freeze when saving in Affinity Publisher 2 Description: Since updating my Intel iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) to macOS 15.4 Beta, Affinity Publisher 2 consistently fails to save documents—both newly created and older files. Sometimes I see the error “Could not lock file,” other times the app just hangs during the save dialog, forcing me to do a Force Quit. This issue happens regardless of the file’s location (local SSD, iCloud Drive, or external volume). I’ve tested in a new user account and in Safe Mode, but the error persists. On a MacBook Air (M3) running the same macOS 15.4 Beta, saving works normally, so it seems to be specific to my Intel iMac under this beta. Key points: macOS 15.4 Beta on Intel iMac (Retina 5K, 2017) Affinity Publisher 2, all updates applied Occurs with both new and existing .afpub files Error: “Could not lock file” or silent freeze during Save/Save As Requires Force Quit to recover Does not occur on my MacBook Pro (M3) with the same beta Troubleshooting done so far: Tried multiple volumes (local, external, iCloud) Reset app preferences, checked file permissions Tested new user account and Safe Mode Ran Disk Utility’s “First Aid” with no issues Rolled back to macOS 15.3.1 as a workaround (solves the issue) It appears to be a beta-related file locking bug on Intel Macs. Any suggestions or known workarounds would be greatly appreciated!
  2. btw. older versions of Affinity 2 apps are also affected by this issue.
  3. same here. iMac dialog freeze, M3 MacBook works fine ... macOS Beta 15.4 (no problem with 15.3.1)
  4. Hello, after upgrading to macOS 15.4 Beta (Intel iMac) Publisher 2.6, (Photo and Designer as well) could not save any files after changing content in the layout anymore. Works fine on a Macbook (M3) with macOS 15.4 Beta (24E5206s).
  5. Thanks Walt. Issue occured on several Macs (Ventura) btw. Solution here: delete the 'Affinty Publisher 2'-Folder in (user)/Library/Application Support/ . Works fine now again on MACOS 13.2 ...
  6. Same issue here since updating today, really really bad situation ... publisher 2 (2.0.3.1674) tries to open a afp-fileserver which is not available anymore ... – app is unusable ... In Version 2 (2.0.0) everything was fine. workaround: Publisher beta 2 (2.0.3 1674) works fine Kind regards, Jan
  7. Same here. Publisher 1.10.5 (including previous versions) on iMac 5K, (3,6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9, Radeon Pro Vega 48 8 GB, 27-Zoll (5120 × 2880), 2019) and several more machines, all using Ventura Version 13.0 Beta (22A5321d). Crash on export 100% on the cases. Deleting Prefs works only once.
  8. Same here. Publisher 1.10.5 on iMac 5K, (3,6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9, Radeon Pro Vega 48 8 GB, 27-Zoll (5120 × 2880), 2019) using Ventura Version 13.0 Beta (22A5321d). Crash on export 100% on the cases. Deleting Prefs works only once.
  9. Yes, really missed that one, even if I noticed that only english is available as a language in the UI prefs. It seemed just irritating to me that german was showing up at the first start of the app and after that than switched back. Thanks for quick response anyway. :-) Regards, Jan
  10. Hello, app looks great on the first view – some deeper tests on the way here. After restarting the app the UI language switched from german to english. Tried to delete preferences files in user library, than it worked until next restart. Any idea? Regards, Jan
