  1. I just purchased Affinity Photo for Windows, and I have a problem. I open a Canon RAW image (freshly downloaded from my camera) and make some adjustment, then Develop it. Once that is done, I try to export it into JPEG. If you look at the screenshot (attached) I keep getting a "File Not Found" error message. What am I doing wrong in trying to convert my RAW image into a JPEG using AP? Untitled document.pdf
  2. In Photos, when I click open with Affinity and then edit photo, it doesn't save the photo with edits back to Photos. How do I return my edited photo back to Photos?
  3. I have just acquired an IPad Pro and have hoped to use this as my primary editing device. As most of what I do is along the lines of "Street" there is little that Affinity Photo cannot achieve on the IPad app. That said, I shoot in RAW and would like to store my photos on either my WD NAS system or preferably on my WD My Passport Pro. A typical workflow would be to Download to the MPP using the auto download slot then import the raw file to affinit. On export I would like to export directly to my MPP so that all of my work is available from there. Clearly I would retain the originals on the SDD Card and I have a backup system to my NAS system which I usually access when I am at home As far as I can tell Affinity will not allow me to add the MyCloud app to locations which is central to this issue... Am I missing something here?
  4. I really like the focus merge functionality of Affinity Photo but it lacks one essential feature: Saving the current state in order continue later. Currently the sources window that lets you manually blend the different sources (and thus correct ghosts introduced during the focus merging process) disappears if the program is closed. I know I can re-add the sources after loading the file but this is not nearly as intuitive and exact as the dedicated "focus merge mode". To me that's a major drawback as focus merging can be very time consuming work which takes hours. What if I need to take a break and want to continue later? Currently I have to leave Affinity Photo open and hope that the program does not crash while taking a break. What if the program crashes during the process? What if accidentally remove the sources (silly but things like this happen)? Please add either a possibility to save the document and reopen it later with the dedicated "focus merge mode" still active meaning the sources still present in the sources window and the clone tool still working without having to select a source point. Or, even better, give us the possibility to switch the "focus merge mode" on and off at will. This would be a major improvement. By the way: I don't use the HDR merge functionality but I guess that it's ghost removal tool works the same way as the ghost removal in focus merge. It would be great if you could implement the same functionality there too.
  5. Why can't I just save an image as either TIFF, PSD or even JPG after the Develop Persona. Why this complicated Export Persona? Adobe at least got that right. This is a struggle every time. I'm sorry but I'm giving up on this.
  6. When working on file that is read-only, it would be really useful if hitting CTRL+S (or going to File > Save) would either present an alert saying the file is read only and cannot be saved, or opening the 'Save As...' dialogue box like Photoshop does. I was working on a file the other day for several hours, not realising that it was read-only and that pressing CTRL+S was not saving my work (as there was no feedback to suggest a problem). Then when the app froze and had to be restarted, I was dismayed to see all the changes I had done were lost.
  7. Recently updated to v1.6.6 from the last 1.5.x version. Using a 27-inch Late 2013 iMac with 16gb memory, running 10.12.6 With this version, routine operations like file save/export have become EXTREMELY slow. I save the files I work on in layered TIFFs, with a typical file size of ~350mb. In the last 1.5.x build, these files would save (or export to TIFF) in about 30 seconds; with v1.6.6, file save times have jumped to an average of almost 2 *minutes*, with occasional save times of more than 4 minutes! What's more, the save times are very inconsistent; on the same files, successive saves can double with no apparent reason. During these long saves, Monitor reports Photo running up processor use to 700%! In addition, live filter updates have become slow as well — sometimes taking nearly a full minute to completely finish application. In the old version the same operations, on the same files, took perhaps 5 seconds. (These times are on files which I use regularly and am familiar with their performance.) I was excited about the 1.6 update because of the claimed improvement in performance, especially with large files, but it's actually become unusably slow. Is it possible to download the last 1.5.x version and use that until issues with v1.6.x get worked out (if they ever do)?
  8. Affinty Designer when I press Save and the computer has no access at the moment to the storage medium e. g. in my case the network hard disk. So he gives an error message that he cannot save and closes the unsaved file.... The solution would be: instead of closing the file without saving it, it should simply leave it open. This allows the user to specify a location of his own. System: Windows 10 Affinity Designer: 1.5.3.69
  9. I didn`t use Affinity Photo for iPad for a while and now I can still open and edit photos but when I try to save or export them I get a white screen. what can I do? thanks
  10. Hi, I have run into a problem with Affinity Photo. It will not save my files. When I try to save a file it says: Failed to save document: (where the document is placed) Save failed because the file could not be created. Please report to Serif. File::OpenUnmanaged fopen E001 [errno = 2] I have attached a screenshot of the message. The thing is, the place it shows where it wants to create/save the file, is not the place I picked for it. Also, the place it reports is a folder that has been moved. But it should not matter, because this is an entirely new file and therefore there should not be a problem with a moved location, because this file has no connection yet to a specific saving spot on my mac. At least that is what I think. I tried to restart the application and just start entirely from scratch, but it has not worked. I also tried to not save and just export it, but that would not work either. Hope you can help me/fix the bug.
  11. Hi, I edited a photo and wanted it to be saved to my external drive (as a .afphoto file), which is in this case connected with my apple Time Capsule via USB. I received an error while saving, that said to contact Serif about it. I took a screenshot of it. I hope it helps you to figure out what the bug might be. Thanks for looking in at this.
  12. Hi, My keyboard shortcuts are not being saved - they are lost and back to default every time I restart AP, so I need to reload them every time. Is there anything that I can try to solve this? Thanks Wayne
  13. When creating a Gradient for a Gradient Map, in order to save it the only option seems to be to press the 'Add Preset' button, which adds it as an adjustment preset. The problem is that there doesn't appear to be any way to import/export these presets. I've instead tried saving gradients as Swatches (as Swatches can be imported/exported), but these don't work properly for Gradient Maps. Is there a way to import/export Gradients for Gradient Maps that I'm overlooking?
  14. Hi, Have a reproducible hang here for you - Affinity becomes unresponsive forcing a Force Quit when you do this... 1. Save As... 2. In the Finder dialog (List View) right click a file and select 'Rename...' 3. Hit Enter 4. Affinity cries 5. Well, it doesn't actually cry, it just does nothing, and continues doing nothing, whatever you do. Thanks Wayne
  15. Hey there, I always forget to check the "Save History File with Document" after creating a new one. I understand, that not everybody wants to save the history by default, because it would make a lot of files a lot larger (I guess so?). But for others it would be nice to have a Checkbox in the (User-)Settings to get the history saved with the document by default when saving a document. Perhaps it would even be possible, to have a "per document"-exception-setting. Greetings, Johannes
  16. Hi, I have a big problem. When I drag a new symbol on the page, the app quit suddenly ! See video to show this problem. If I create a new artboard and drag all the layers in this new artboard, and delete the older, it works fine … for few time (2 minutes or more than 20 !). It's very strange ! But, now I can't work anymore with the file. I try this (but same problem) : - on 2 differents iMac . a recent one (4 GHz Intel Core i7. 16 Go 1867 MHz DDR3. AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 Mo). and an older one (6 years old) - use "save as…" - use hardware openGL and/or only integrated GPU (in preferences) what can I do ? Thanks for your help ! video_bug_affinity_designer_1080p.mov
  17. Hey everyone! This is a very small feature request, but it would improve the workflow by quite a bit. Personally, I have some categories I don't use regularly. So I just collapse those. However, each time after starting Photo, all the categories will be open again with too many macros to scroll through. Could you save the state for each category when they are opened or closed? Best wishes, Shu
  18. Is their a way to save as you work on the ipad while the file is open? The program is shutting down suddenly and I lose the work that hadnt been saved.
  19. I am trying to use the gradient tool on a mask layer to fade either side of a photo I'm compositing. I create a gradient on one side, and switch tools to commit it, then when I make another gradient on the other side, it removes/resets the previous gradient and overwrites it with the new one. Where is the commit gradient button? How to save and get out of the live gradient tool mode? Also for extra credit, how to make radial gradients?
  20. I like to watch my file sizes while working, and sometimes I do a quick backup using copy/save in the OS. Watching Designer Files (.afdesign), I see that they do not update each time I save, and the files are only updated after I close them. Can you tell me where the files are stored while open? Also, are we sure that if AD crashes that the last save will be copied to the original location? Thanks.
  21. The file I was working on since two days just broke after saving it. It is not possible to open it any more - "The file type is not supported." It seems like the file size has shrunk down - but that's just a guess..
  22. batch jobs can only save afphoto, jpg, png, tiff, exr normal File>export allows more options though e.g. pdf it just happened that I had to batch convert a bunch of svg which AP opened well but without a batch option it was not practical please make batch jobs more full featured cheers (and enable parallel export)
  23. Coming from the Adobe suite, I'm used to being able to save document setups (dimensions, resolution, color space, margins, bleeds etc.) but I can't find that option in Affinity Designer. It's a real time saver when you frequently use the same document setup (A4, A5, business card).
  24. Would love to be able to save my own sizes & styles as I use many not here in list. Would be great to be able to just save them in the menu in both photo and designer
  25. Hello, I was hoping that there would be a way for Affinity to import the file name from the RAW image that is being edited. As it is right now when I go to save an image as a jpg it defaults to "untitled" With Lightroom Mobile it is able to keep the file name and save it in an easier to organize way. I hope this is a feature that can be added, or at least the ability to consecutively name the saved images in some way. Thank you!
