Ellie Dance
Is there a way to make a whole piece slightly fuzzy like this? Preferably without having to go round every bit and blur it using the blur tool?

If everything is on a single pixel layer, is there some reason you do not want to use the Burr Brush Tool set to a very large size? You would have to go over the entire layer but if it is big enough you could brush over everything very quickly with just one application of the brush. I've tried to use the blur brush tool before and for some reason it doesn't work. Like, I can see that somethings happening because the small window image on the side for the layers changes but nothing actually happens on the page. Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong? With most tools in affinity you get a more accurate rendition of the effect if you have the image set at 100% zoom. If you are using Affinity Photo is there any reason you are not using the live blur filters? The Blur Brush Tool only works on the selected layer. If no layer is selected, nothing happens. telemax
Yes, you indicated in the title that you use Designer, but still note Live Field Blur in AP. It has the advantage of non-destructive workflow. PaulEC
If the blur brush doesn't seem to be working, make sure you are using a standard/basic brush, not an image brush etc. A good tip is to duplicate the layer and then use the blur brush on that. You can then play with the layer's opacity to fine tune the blur. Thanks to @telemax you don’t need Photo for this! When you open the file in Designer and double-click on the ‘Field Blur’ live filter layer, the Context toolbar will be populated with controls for the various parameters so that you can adjust them to suit. Old Bruce
Is there a reason you are not using a Layer effect? Select the image/pixel layer and select the Gaussian Blur effect. For some reason I just thought you could only use them on vector shapes aha
