GarryP Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 In the Decorations section of the Paragraph Panel I can set a Texture Line Style (the brush icon) but I can’t figure out what this does or how to change the “texture”. Switching between Solid Line Style and Texture Line Style seems to make no difference apart from the line style in the underlying panel button changing a bit. Can anyone tell me what this is for and how I should be using it please? Quote
Joachim_L Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 You have to switch to the Designer Persona and select a brush from there. Maybe one day we have brushes in APu? Sorry, does not seem to work for decorations - even in the latest Windows beta, because there are no decorations in AD. First said, works for "normal" strokes. It would be nice, but until either (a) Publisher has its own brushes or (b) Designer has Paragraph Decorations it can't work. So, for now, it's useless. Edit: Looks like it does work in the Designer Persona of Publisher; thanks, Carl. carl123 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 The Designer Persona in Publisher has both Brushes and Decorations so it does work there. GarryP Posted February 21, 2020 Author Posted February 21, 2020 I’ve tried to assign a Brush to a Decoration Stroke via the Designer Persona of Publisher but it always applies the brush to the text stroke rather than the decoration stroke. However, if that icon is going to be removed, as Callum said above, then that’s the end of the discussion I suppose. On the other hand, I think it would have been nice to be able to produce something like the examples in my attached image. Joachim_L and mpowell 2 Quote

Oh, is that what it's doing. I hadn't figured out what was going on, so thanks for explaining that That seems like a bug, by the way, since it's coming from the Paragraph panel. 53 minutes ago, GarryP said: On the other hand, I think it would have been nice to be able to produce something like the examples in my attached image. The paragraph decoration textured stroke is not an option on the Mac, it's not in 1.7.3 or the latest beta 556 😕 It is in the character panel but achieves the same result as the stroke panel. It would be nice to have it as a paragraph decoration though. Quote

It is also a bit buggy because the stroke size does not update when I select a vector brush -- the text is outlined in the (usually much too large) default size of the brush, which is not the stroke size shown in Decorations until I change it there. It's interesting that in the Character Panel, we have the decorations section, that shows underlining and strikethrough options, and a stroke. One might assume (as I have done) that the stroke setting would apply to the underline and/or strikethrough options, but the Tooltip for the stroke setting says otherwise: There is no corresponding Tooltip for the stroke setting in the Decorations for the Paragraph panel.
