  1. Hi everybody, i am a new user of affinity designer and have a question about exporting files: i was asked by a printing company if i can provide them with files in vector art format (they mean illustrator i guess). which export format, if any, is feasible for that?
  2. Hi @ all, I have to send a 76x66cm photocollage including a cut to a printservice. The original .afphoto file with all pics is about 400MB. Affinity photo is working already for 2 hours now to export to .eps @ 300dpi. Does anyone know how long it will take to finish this export? Will go to bed now, hopefully it is done next morning. ;-) Best regards, Michael
  3. It would be great to able able to specify compression (LZW and ZIP) for TIFF files. hanks for all you do.
  4. Hi, I love the concept of the export persona in Photo. Surely we've all been there where a large raw file has to be repurposed for many things. I feel this is the idea behind the slices in the export persona? But in this case I want to be able to limit the long edge of a slice so that I don't have to re-scale the exported slices in another step. It kind of feels like it should be there already, so am I missing something (I'm new to the apps)? So, in the export options, for instance in the JPEG preset, I'd like to see: Long edge: px and maybe % options Sharpening (I use quite different values depending on size and purpose) dpi Thanks!
  5. Hi, Is this possible to export TIFF images with transparency in RGB and CMYK from Affinity Photo or Affinity Designer? I can't do that from Affinity Designer so I just got the rial version of Affinity Photo to test the TIFF transparency export but it seems TIFF transparency is not supported for Tiffs. (?) Either in RGB or CMYK no matter what matte color you pick the TIFF image is exported with a solid background color. I have also tried Placing a PSD transparent file into a transparent background document in both Designer and Photo exporting it to Tiff ... same solid background. In the forums I found a few posts related to A-Designer Tiff export issues. but nothing about Affinity PHOTO. Resulting files should go to press and the CTP people want TIFF images in CMYK. Thank you for any hint, jp
  6. Hi - I've noticed that when I export from Affinity Designer the colours are quite different. Pure white becomes light yellow for example. I'm using a 2012 retina macbook pro that's running El Capitan. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks I've attached a couple of images for comparison PreExport.tiff
  7. Hello, I've just finished preping my son's photo portfolio for college admission. What is the best format to use when exporting so that images can be opened on PC or Mac? Thanks mucho!
  8. Hallo to everyone. I have a problem with exposing from AP. Once the image is exported it has some really strange colors.... But only if reported from AP... If the same image goes from Lightroom to AP and back no... Tiff format or jpeg happens the same... It doesn't happen if i save a .afphoto project. tried in various formats but didn't change... Thank you very much...
  9. Hi, Right now the export Persona assumes that you are always doing the @1x resolution, and only allows you to scale UP to @2x and @3x and complain when anything is not vector. The reality of UI design is that you need to deal with raw images in your design, and even if they are sent as a maximum resolution, Affinity Designer doesn't let you say you are working at @3x and request scale DOWN version of @1x and @2x for example. Please consider this feature. Having to downscale by hand is time consuming. Ideally you would tell the layer in which resolution you are working (@1x, @2x or @3x) and then the slices view would create all the views to be exported based on it.
Vielen Dank! Newstone ------------------ translated with google translator: Hello there, when exporting some Affinity Designer files ended the Affinity designer Beta 1.3.5.5 unexpectedly. See the example video. When is visible in this file "Page 1", shall not phanomän on. If "Page 2" is visible, it occurs. If desired, the file can be made available. Can you fix the "bug" or help me? Many thanks! 11. If I create a slice in Export Persona and use the "Export selected" button from slices panel, I after selecting 1x, 2x and 3x checkbox, I get this files as output: slice1.png slice1@2x.png slice1@3x.png It is OK for apps, but when I need it for websites, some servers has issues with "@" character, so my naming convention becomes: slice1.png slice1_2x.png slice1_3x.png I’d like to have the ability to save this naming convention (may be in "Export options" presets), so I can use the great "Continuous" function.
  12. I cannot open the exported tiff from affinity in another application because it sonly affinity writable. I do need to be able to edit a result in another app.
  13. would like to see export as tiff with an extension of "tif". Some programs don't like tiff.
  14. So what happens if I create a file in AD and have to send it to a agency that requests ai format so that they can edit it? I have tried exporting out of AD as an eps hoping that the agency can read all my edits but they get botched up. Is there a good way to make this happen?
  15. In Lightroom you can add a preset watermark when you export a photo. Can you do that in Affinity without creating an image that you can layer into a photo?
  16. Hey, I am sometimes baffled by some fundamental interaction flaws in Affinity. I think that having the export persona was a bad design decision. I have a problem I cannot figure out a solution to: I simply want to move a graphic and a slice together. Impossible. You can either move the whole graphic or the slice but you have no way to select a graphic and its slice together. Try to resize a document: All your slices will stay in their absolute position forcing you to reslice everything! Please fix as soon as possible and get rid of the export persona completely. Just do what Sketch does. So much easier.
  17. I did a search on feature requests on slices, and didn't really see anything on this or in the roadmap. I did see a post that there is more to come for Exporting Personal, but here is a feature(s) I've come to want while working with AD. In Export Personal (AD), if you create multiple slices, they are literally all over the design, yet we have a palette dedicated to the management of those slices. I would suggest that the palette be the "controller" of showing and hiding slices created by a simple selection(s). So, instead of slices constantly cluttering the design, with only corner anchor points being the highlight a slice is selected, hide the slice unless that slice is selected within the palette. This would greatly clear up the interface and provide good UX. Especially since you already have to select the slice that you want to export, this would give clear visual feedback of what a user is exporting without all the clutter of other slices. In addition, to further enhance this, by selecting multiple slices within the palette, it could group slices as a composite export selection. This would allow us to define potential elements of export through slices, without literally having to create every possibility. See attachment. So, since the slices palette already is the determining factor of what is getting exported, and if we hide the slices unless selected, then being able to select multiple elements for different variations of exports would be wonderful as a composite of those selected slices. If anything, at least hide the slices' bounding boxes unless it is selected within the slices palette. Otherwise, it can get very unruly.
  18. Hello guys. I would like to ask few questions regarding PSD import / export from Photoshop to Affinity and back. I use Photoshop CS6 in my PC and I have a plan to use Affinity Designer (or Photo later) to do comic book lettering. I use just few tools in PS like Shapes, Paths and Text layers, with some of blending options like Stroke, Drop shadow, Colour and gradient fill. I created one PSD file in PS containing layers with ballons and text for testing how it will be opened in Affinity Designer - option: Favour editable text over fidelity. Well, it looks quite good, but there are still some small issues. I create ballons as elipse (Shape tool) with the tail (Path) as non-destructive combination. AD export this combination as dectructed shape with no possibility to edit ellipse and tail indepently. Yes, still editable as curves but non destructive combinations from PS are gone. Is there something I can do in PS and/or AD to be able import connected shapes correctly? When I create ballon in AD as non desctuctive compound of Ellipse and curve, export it as PSD, then it is opened in PS as 3 layers (with clipping mask?) but the curve is not combined with the ellipsis as in AD. They look like separated shapes. Text layers are imported to AD as editable text, but some of settings are not the same e.g. I am missing “optical” kerning. Would it be possible to get this option in the future? When I export PSD from AD and open it in PS the text layers are rasterised and they are not editable anymore. Would it be possible to get this option in the future? Gradient fill of the Shape is imported/exported correctly but gradient fill as "blending option" of the layer tis imported to AD correctly but in export from AD to PS it is changed to simple colour. Some of my clients are quite OK to get flat 1 layer TIFF or high quality JPG, so there will be no issue. But some of them reqest to have editable PSD to be able do some minor changes by themslef (ususally text correction) if needed. They works with Adobe stuff on PCs so obviously I cannot push them to switch to Affinity’s products and Apple hardware. There are screenshots of my lettering test in Affinity Designer and Photoshop. Original file created in Photoshop: PSD opened in Affinity Designer: and PSD exported from AD and opened back in Photoshop:
  19. Designer Make an option to export only when saving document. Mac uses much resources when continuous is switch on. Great application :)
  20. Hello, I was looking for a way to export slices to individual folders in one shot. Is there a way to do this like in Sketch? Like naming layers like this: FolderName/LayerName Thank you, Philippe
  21. Hey, Would love to see a "Projected Export" option in the export dialog. It would basically create a new file that has expanded and merged all the outline of the elements visible on the canvas. Currently, the process of getting the outline only is just as tedious as any other vector tool, but Affinity Designer can and should do better! Like this:
  22. I would love to have arbitrary control over the dimensions of exports from slices. Right now I can only tinker with the size of whole document exports (File > Export). But if I’m exporting slices, which I regularly want to do, I seem to be stuck with 1x, 2x, 3x. I want to export smaller versions of slices more often than larger. At the very least, I’d like 25% and 50% options, but full control over the exported dimensions is what I really want. I’m surprised more users aren’t asking for this here. Perhaps my workflow is unusual, but … surely other web publishers start with the maximum resolution possible and then export smaller versions of it? P.S. Export preview desperately desired too! (I know it's on the roadmap. And it can't come soon enough for me!)
  23. In AFFINITY PHOTO, EXIF date shot lost on export I cannot find the date and time of shot after exporting the image .psd or .jpg. Date shot is OK when saving in .afphoto format — see screen shots. How can I keep date and time of shot in other formats? Thanks for the tip.
  24. Comparing my AD document (on the right) to the exported PSD (on the left)... is this amount of colour-shift normal?
  25. Slice(From Layer) is more accurate slice frame size by just select an object, then create slice. But it can only export the things selected, cannot export the other rest shown on the slice. Somebody know the other ways to multiple Export with Background? Thank you.
