    Preview for export persona

They have been promising export preview since the earliest days, their own roadmap, not just wishful thinking on my part. For users like me (webdev), it was "late" a year or two ago, by any reasonable definition of the word "late." And now? Now it's still missing from the betas for 1.7, in late 2018. "Betrayal" is emotional language, maybe inappropriate for this purpose... but darned if I do not feel it! I got on the Affinity Bandwagon early, to support it, long before the feature set was really ready to replace PS or Fireworks. Export preview was a critical missing piece from the earliest days, and I stayed on the bandwagon BECAUSE export preview and some other things were on the roadmap. I continued to use (and evangelize) the apps because of that promise. I gave Affinity my money and a LOT of my time, not for features I HOPED they would build, but for features they actually promised. And now here we are and still no export preview. I give up. I am getting off the bandwagon. I will now go crawling back to Adobe. Instead of telling colleagues how cool the Affinity apps are, I will now be telling them how disappointed I am. So yeah… "betrayed" doesn't actually feel too hyperbolic. No doubt Affinity Photo is a replacement for Photoshop for some people, but it really is not for webdevs, and I now suspect that it never will be.

    Export preview

Huge fan of what you’re doing, but I am amazed and horrified that there’s still no export preview. You get a big Jerry Seinfeld style “really?” for this. It’s been a long time. It’s crazy overdue based on your own roadmap. Headed to app store now to knock a couple stars off my reviews. You’ll get ‘em back when the app gets export preview!

    jagged PNG-8 exports

Bug easily reproduced on another Mac. Fugly PNG 8 export achieved in seconds. I’m starting to feel surprised that I ever got a GOOD PNG-8 export! But I certainly did originally. Details: when I wrote my original report I was using a MacBook Pro on the road. I’ve returned to my office and just reproduced the bug easily on my iMac (AD 1.5.1 running on macOS 10.11.6, Retina 5K late 2014). I used just about the most basic steps possible from launch to export (create a doc > draw a circle > export persona > create slice from layer > select export present for PNG 8 > export all slices).

    jagged PNG-8 exports

Affinity Designer 1.5.1, App Store version. All my PNG-8 exports seem to lack anti-aliasing. For instance, a simple circle is jagged. This bug was erratic when I was first attempting to export some simple icons as PNG-8. Some exports were fine, others were not. I assumed it had something to do with my custom settings, so I started trying to use the PNG-8 preset. From that point forward, every exported PNG-8 was jagged. (PNG-24 was fine.) I started messing around with every variable I could think of, but nothing helped. I restarted the app, and then the Mac, but I was still unable to export a healthy PNG-8. I copied the vectors into a fresh file, but was still unable to export a healthy PNG-8. I created a blank file with a single circle shape and tried to export that. Still jagged. That test file is attached. jagged png-8 export.afdesign

control over dimensions of exported slices

Okay, fantastic! Thank you. I think I can be patient ;) as long as I know it's coming.
  6. I would love to have arbitrary control over the dimensions of exports from slices. Right now I can only tinker with the size of whole document exports (File > Export). But if I’m exporting slices, which I regularly want to do, I seem to be stuck with 1x, 2x, 3x. I want to export smaller versions of slices more often than larger. At the very least, I’d like 25% and 50% options, but full control over the exported dimensions is what I really want. I’m surprised more users aren’t asking for this here. Perhaps my workflow is unusual, but … surely other web publishers start with the maximum resolution possible and then export smaller versions of it? P.S. Export preview desperately desired too! (I know it's on the roadmap. And it can't come soon enough for me!)
