  1. When I saw some photos about mountains, forests, and old-style bridges, I thought the movie "Indiana Jones". So I made adventure-style photo manipulation like "Indiana Jones" with the green snake that I have "Don't Wake The Green Snake" speed art : https://youtu.be/-X77XVzxpPE
  2. Here is a first attempt, following James Ritson's excellent new video tutorial. Not only is there a huge difference in the two images on my retina screen, but also the printed versions have a major difference too. There is also a vast difference in file size. The HDR version is 31.0 MB. The original JPEG is 3.1 MB. The exported HDR image does not appear in FINDER with the usual image thumbnail. See below. So here are my first and second tries. HDR.jxl on the left, JPEG on the right. Next set, HDR.jxl on the top, JPEG on the bottom.
  3. When you see quite dilapidated and rusty things while walking between forest and meadows. And if you happen to have in such moments your little old Nikon 1 cam with you.
  4. I took a photo restoration class a while ago. Class used photoshop, but I did all my work with Affinity Photo v1. I have a damaged image provided in the class here. I did my restoration work on it and then I tried colorizing it on my own (not an assignment for this image). I have been restoring quite a few old family photos. Some are too damaged for me to do anything with.
  5. Ukrainian beauty lying down on a sandy beach. Fashion swimwear vibes with a bit of shyness. Published magazine work. Old work from a Nikon d5200 edited in affinity photo. https://www.instagram.com/p/CgMwcBaL0Rk/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  6. Following the recipe of our own J.R., found here https://affinityspotlight.com/article/shooting-series-1-polaris-star-trails/ , I was happy to be able to come up with this result. Used here was a Canon 1100D, 50mm f1.8 lens, intervalometer (about 10 from our Chinese friends) set to 30s bulb and 10s pause. 50 photos made. Affinity really brought out some nice colors. Next time I will try better to center on Polaris and make 200 photos. Clear skies for all of us, Irving
  7. I saw red flowers garden a few days ago, and it felt like an different planet. So I made the garden into a red planet that I felt. "Red Planet" speed art : https://youtu.be/vOm1uFa_LMk
  8. Affinity Photo is a joy to use and allows me to create composite art that helps me stay sane during these uncertain times.

  11. I bought the Affinity set. To commemorate the first time. I had the most fun this year. Thank you
  12. Affinity Designer is the program I use most from the Affinity suit and I haven't yet done a lot with Affinity Photo. So I thought it was time to do a little experimenting. I found an image of an occult statue on line, that intrigued me and used it to retouch it to my personal preference. I narrowed its wings and changed its face somewhat (among other things). I have to practice more with Affinity Photo, which I will do when I have more time. Being a vector drawing aficionado this type of work is a little out of my comfort zone, but looking outside of it probably is a good thing to do in this life, bearing in mind that many matters obviously are intentionally induced and imposed, which of course has a certain purpose that does not necessarily concur with my intuition. More info about this in my portfolio blog: https://communicats.blogspot.com/2022/12/occult-image-retouching-experiment.html
  13. Here's my third attempt at a single frame story. I'm thoroughly enjoying the ability to use both vector and bitmap techniques together. This allows me to not have to plan too far ahead and go with which technique works best. Not having to worry about workflow issues makes images like this possible for me. I don't really know what I'm creating until it's finished.
  14. I just wanted to share my approach to digital painting. I have tried many different approaches over the years and find this one works for me . I initially create a graphite drawing on vellum drawing paper, photograph it and then take the digital file into AP. Using the default blending tools, I blend the previously shaded drawing into a nicely sculpted form ready for the application of colour using gradient maps. Here is a sample of the final stage of the grayscale and its readiness for colour. Comments welcomed.
  15. Since I was young, I loved flying boats, so I imagined traveling in space on a ship with my parents. So this time, I made "Travel to Space" by affinity photo manipulation. "Travel to Space" speed art : https://youtu.be/ZKt7Z9moTkQ
