  1. Well better safe than sorry. Didn’t know if this was Seriff forum appropriate.
  2. Ukrainian beauty lying down on a sandy beach. Fashion swimwear vibes with a bit of shyness. Published magazine work. Old work from a Nikon d5200 edited in affinity photo. https://www.instagram.com/p/CgMwcBaL0Rk/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  3. The last photo program they had did have a bit more advanced features so it is reasonable wanting those back.
  4. Easiest way to understand fs is the Einstein Marilyn high frequency low frequency image. You destroy the shapes of the images. Closest you would get would be in fs would be high high, high mid, high low, mid high, mid mid, mid low etc. not just the two affinity would show in the tutorials. This is why they removed my thread in the original video and reuploaded the video later. Then the comment thread was no longer on the video on YouTube. They were schooled big time.
  5. Ok guys the video is called texture monday. The cool thing about this forum is a find people willing to listen and learn from each other. I don’t like when admins close the thread because they know they are wrong.
  6. Am I allowed to post links? If I am I will post them for you. I really think this will help us all.
  7. And it is still bad. Dodge and burn does not destroy the image in such a way. This is why I said to OP to go look at the Natalia video referencing fs. This is why serif took down the video when the thread was made correcting them and reuploaded the video again. So the thread would not be on said video. we want to lift each other up and the industry. Set a new professional standard that doesn’t harm the image. unless it’s for budget or artistic reasons there is no reason to fs anyone’s skin anymore.
  8. I’ve explained it many times before and it becomes a super long thread. It does make me happy that you are willing to learn. I myself will always continue learning and improving my foundations. easiest way to learn this information would be to look up Natalia Taffarel on YouTube. Her videos will show you the process and proper way to work on photographs. serif actually removed and reuploaded one of the video tutorials they put on YouTube because they got corrected on how to use frequency separation. That removed the comment thread on proper use of fs.As for v2 they have yet to upload anything specifically on fs again. so yeah Natalia Taffarel and a couple other photogs have videos so you can improve the foundational skills and move away from fs. fs does have its uses on skin-that is price dependent and if you are doing more fine art work for the fantasy look.
  9. what are you using fs for? if its for skin it is an unprofessional method of working. If its for items then its fine.
  10. I agree with you. However the people who fell for this are partially at fault. If people had done research they would have known the release of such an app was going to be around this time to early next year with a price increase. 1 they had piximperect talk a bit about affinity. 2 they had done interviews in magazines.
  11. Go to facebook and try to explain this in the groups. Insta banned. It is hilarious how many fanboys exist. Real problems that should have been fixed long ago. Example i keep giving people to which the have no answer to is serifs previous photo app. The raw develop of the previous app had more advanced features than v2. The only answer they have when provided with this proof is name calling. I wish they wouldnt take us for fools. I want them to succeed. I really dislike the way adobe runs things.
  12. Except it doesn't as of yet. Ive yet to see advancements to raw develop itself which is literally the next thing you do once you have photographed and opened the images on a pc or portable device. Ive yet to see proper "tutorials" on the high end subject. No, frequency separation on skin is not high end. Affinity has introduced a camera raw option which is good but that shouldn't have been the first thing that came with the program. A better raw developer with the ability to edit multiple images in raw at the same time. As of yet it is not worth upgrading to version 2. It adopts the same mentality as other companies have. Pay us and we will complete the program as we go. Import raw from your previous photo program had more advanced features in raw than af v 2 has. Please explain to me how raw in v2 is better than v1. Not the new camera raw option-raw develop itself and how it compares to c1 or photoshop. I want to believe in serif but this is a huge disappointment as of now.
  13. Wrong. You clearly show the videos that prove what not to do for high end retouching. The only one that is close to perfectly accurate was perfect portraits. He did seem to know what he was talking about. He didn’t go that much into it though.Did you peruse the comments in some of the videos? The first one you linked has a comment where it is mostly explained. the cloud strife pen name comment explains a lot. you said I may be blind but you are not. It takes training the eye over and over to see what I mean. I’m not even at the master level as of yet but I’ve trained my eye enough to start seeing the differences. So like I said to the trained eye you will see what is high end and retouching and what isn’t.
  14. Go look at the images. A trained eye would know that fs was used for skin smoothing and ushing color around. Not proper high end skin retouching. Photographer Marcelo Goulart: 'I always try to make a visual impact' - Affinity Spotlight one of many articles where you can go look at the work and see the problems. Serif themselves said they have not found a proper retoucher to work with. A true high end retoucher like natalia taffarel would point out everything that is lacking in affinity and what needs to be added so that it may compete at the highest levels. frequency separation is thrown around in such articles without actual explanation of proper use for high end retouching.
  15. I happened upon this thread by accident. I'm glad some people know what affinity actually needs for high end retouching. It is severely limited and that is apparent as ones skills grow. Serif likes to pretend it isn't a problem but it is. Even some of the youtube tutorials have misinformation when it comes to explaining how functions actually work and then they say it is for high end. It is not or it is used the wrong way. All the articles ive read on spotlight have misinformation on proper high end retouching. Have yet to see an article with a photographer on affinity spotlight that actually knows how to truly high end retouch.
