  1. Hello Some new features for affinity photo 1. Possibility to open an infinite number of layers. Because right now from 15 16 I can no longer have access to background layers 2. Have the ability to make a quick selection on a layer mask. 3. Copy paste a layer mask onto other images simply by dragging it onto a layer. 4. Integrate multiple images on a project so you can crop an image without having to do it on other projects, save and add an image. Simply have in a document several separate images to cut or retouch separately to then add to the single image slide over each other. 5. Make an affinity photo interface closer to the computer interface 6. Make a more simplified interface with the interface selection directly in the interface the basic interface of retouching 7. And move the retouching filters to a search bar at the top with search by name. Because at the moment it is difficult to find a filter quickly by spanking all. 8. Add more fonts to the text. Or the possibility to download via internet 9. Decrease or move the adjustment filter 10. Have the ability to modify and move each interface, icon and search bar as we wish in the interface 11. Have a closer interface than Photoshop CC if possible .. with all the features, retouch, filter at the same places instead of looking right to left
  2. Just thought I would share this one Experimenting with a new set of brushes [fur and vegetation] and combining AD elements into AP Original Size A4 (300 dpi)
  3. Does pixel layer in Affinity Photo support link to an extern image file with auto refresh capability? I feel it would be very convenient when an extern image file is modified and Affinity Photo could show the composition immediately.
  4. I have a PSD file where there are multiple editable layers grouped together within a single layer. In Photoshop, you would open the layer, right click on the 'sub' layer you wish to edit, and click Edit Contents. Attached is a PDF where on Page 2, it will give the steps I'm referencing. When I attempt to do this in Affinity Photo, there is no such option. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance. Help.pdf
  5. I have Affinity for windows, and I'm really impressed. My old laptop struggles to run affinity though, Looking at reasonable priced new latops (low end) it seems NONE of them can manage a 1920x1080 screen resolution - and I don't use it often enough to justify spending a lot. But I notice that I can get an iPad Air 2 for less than a laptop, and I think I'd use that more too. Editing photos is a big part of what I want to do, so my question is: Is an iPad Air 2 good enough to run Afinity pro withot it being awkwardly sluggish? And that applies to photo editing, and panorama stitching, (which I suspect is considerably more demanding)
  6. No matter how serious I try to be in my graphic work, my sense of humour keeps muscling in. Finally I gave way to two whims, and the results are below. If either (neither?) of these makes sense to you, don;t worry: my idea of what;s funny can be a little obscure. Oh, and make sure you're sitting down and not drinking anything. Just in case ... I can't claim any credit for the actual joke, but the artwork is all my own on this animated GIF: Both of these were made by tracing over a photo. The 'Greek' one was done in vectors in AD and then 'distressed' with a pixel layer, while the other was largely made with AP in pixels only; the finished images were imported into an elderly Animation Shop 3 for rendering.
  7. Hey guys, back in 2011 I took some pictures (1) and combined them into an artwork (2). I had to use PS (I think it was CS5 if I remember correctly). The whole thing is related to the fairy tale ›Der Froschkönig‹ written by the Brother’s Grimm. Well, a few days ago I picked the same pictures (1) and created a ›Remake‹ just for fun. This time I used AffinityPhoto 1.5.2. and made the artwork completely new. Instead of the perfume bottle I decided to add the boat, the paddle and water lilies. (3) The result is (4). The file is up to 300 MB and runs smoothly on my 6 year old iMac.
  8. Hello, I am trying alternate ways to sharpen my photos and it seems that being able to add a filter or an adjustment to another filter or adjustment can be done in Photoshop and I can't seem to do it in Affinity Photo. I tried to sharpen a photo with the high pass filter with linear light and then add the curves adjustment to it but the curves doesn't add to the previous adjustment it adjusts the parameters that I chose up or down. In Photoshop you can make it act as a clipping adjustment and it can further sharpen the photo. There are a few other techniques that I haven't tried but they do require the ability to add to the previous filter or adjustment. I'm calling it add as the two adjustment and/or filters work together for the final result. Is this type of feature something that can be added to Affinity? Thanks!
  9. I've done some mono to colour in the past, but I've only recently begun to try it in AP. I scanned some old family photos a few years ago, and these two are of my grandfather and father (he's the younger one!) taken about 1949 or 1950, when Dad got his call-up. Granddad was a Special Police Constable, and they must have been showing off their uniforms. I'm pretty sure they were taken on Dad's camera. Anyway, to business -- I've reduced the images after recolouring, which cuts down the noise somewhat. The left-hand photo didn't look natural enough, so I tried Filters>Colors>Auto... (all four) and got the result on the right, which looks a bit more natural. Didn't work on Granddad though! I used a separate pixel layer for each colour, trying different combinations of blend mode and transparency till I was satisfied. Dad's eyes are a little stark, and there are some hard edges which need softening up ... but I'm still on the learning curve, and any constructive criticism will be welcome.
  10. I've been doing digital art for a while now (no really long one) and I've been drawing in Affinity Photo comparing to Krita I liked it way better. But can someone explain is Affinity Designer worth the switch and why?
  11. Hi. How, for example, can I crop a series of 25 pieces of photo to 13x18cm, but with different slices in an easy way. Photoshop or Elements I choose size for 13x18cm and 300dpi. So it's just on every single image to make the slice I want and all images will automatically be 13x18cm 300dpi. How do I do this with Affinity Photo ???? Looking forward to a reply. Jörgen
  12. I tried rotating an embedded object and found that gaps were created. The image in question was liquified - maybe that is the issue - however that effect was applied destructively. Also I wasn't able to duplicate problem is other embedded files in other documents. If you want I can directly send the file in question for testing. Here are the test (portion) images
  13. Hey guys, I thought I'd post a few of my paintings after using Affinity on my new iPad with the Apple Pencil. Im loving this app for painting on weekends as I use Photoshop on a daily basis for my work as a concept artist/matte painter for film and TV. Im still getting the hang of it but it's fun.
  14. Hi, I just want to ask if there someone of you has a video or pdf tutorial of frequency separation work flow using Affinity Photo in Ipad Pro? I just recently downloaded Affinity in my Ipad Pro and I would like to try the new way of photo retouching using my iPad. Before I do my photo editing using Photoshop, Lightroom, and Nix but now I would like to try something more portable and easiest way to edit photos. Thanks a lot to those who can help. Best regards, Judy
  15. In version 1.6.3 Affinity Photo for iPad it is not possible to make panoramas with raw samsung camera photos and not even open them in a proper fashion...
  16. Hi, it seems the "artefacts on 32bit images" bug is still around. I used the Vignette filter on a 32bit HDR stack and got a grid that's also visible in the exported image (see attached screenshot). Cheers, Henning
  17. Right now, an Affinity Photo document can only be RGB, Grayscale or LAB at a time. However, there are several workflows where it would be beneficial to work in more than one. Examples are: Black and white conversion – you would like to end up with a grayscale image, but work with RGB data using channel mixers, HSL and so on and be able to edit these after the fact. The final image being saved as Grayscale is so important because it ensure that it ends up being separated into the CMYK black channel, leaving CMY clean. Applying LAB mode corrections like LAB curves inside of an RGB mode retouch (could also be implemented as an implicit conversion as part of the curves adjustment layer like in PhotoLine though) Manually fine-tuning the result of CMYK conversion by manipulating the image in RGB mode (possible through soft-proofing, but requires a manual CMYK-export in the end and you have to re-do any manual adjustments that may have been made on the resulting CMYK file every time) These will be even more relevant once work files can be saved natively as TIFF retaining layers and so on since you can then actually place your working files in third party software and not have to export a bunch of separate files. Especially in the B/W case, you currently have to keep your RGB original retouch, then your BW conversion RGB file, and then a final single-channel BW exported file. Currently, there seems to be no other way than to flatten the image and convert to another mode as far as I can tell (haven't tried placing embedded documents yet though). Photoshop provides a rather clumsy workflow where you can convert your entire document into a smart object and then change the colour mode of the enclosing document. But especially if you just want to quickly apply LAB curves a bunch of times in your retouch, the nesting just becomes unusable. If you had simple adjustment layers along the lines of "Convert to LAB" and "Convert to CMYK", that would make it easy to mix the best of all worlds in one single document.
  18. I have a problem by using the Shadow and Highlight sliders of the Develop Persona. Please compare the two results. The only thing I tweaked have been the Highlight slider to -100% and the Shadow slider to +100%. All other switches set to OFF/Unchecked, in Camera Raw and also in Develop Persona. The only exception was the usage of the Camera Colour Profile "Neutral" the RAW file offers (not available in Develop Persona), but this only affects subtle the colours. Camera Raw also applied the automatic lens correction profile, which is also not recognised by Develop Persona. Everything else was disabled (sharpening, denoise, etc.). Please see attached results. The one on Develop Persona is unfortunately much worse than the one of Camera Raw/Lightroom. I also attach the RAW file. I am very keen on your reply to this, and I really appreciate in advance. Hey guys, there is a problem on upload of Lightroom/Camera Raw generated JPGs to Affinity Forum sites, this error only occurs if I want to upload the Adobe generated JPG sample: Best regards, Roland RAW File: DSC00644.ARW Camera Raw Output attached as Zip: DSC00644-CameraRaw.jpg.zip
  19. I use Affinity Photo for Mac and iPad now, I was a Photoshop user for 15 years and now for my freeelance work I only use Affinity apps. they are small, light and more powerful than any app for designing. My question is how I achieve the feature I saw on one of your Affinity Photo promo videos that a person is working on a billboard art and in the other window you can see the billboard updating the changes the artist is doing on the art itself? I want to use that feature (and maybe is very easy to do) so I need your help now. thanks in advance!
  20. Mysłowice - city in Poland. Pentax K-70 + DAL 18-50mm, 50-200mm + Sigma 10-20 F3,5 EX DC+ Affinity Photo (win).
  21. I've been dragged back to work and this is the site I am on - well nearly on - yet to cover anything but some of my old stuff is on there. http://www.dogfocus.co.uk It is nearly all running as it should but we had to launch to start generating a bit of interest. Regards. Sharkey
  22. Hi all, I just want to apply a color filter to an image with Affinity Photo to get something like this: : I´ve watched this video but I don´t know neither how to change the color of the filter nor this is the right approach to do it: Many thanks in advanced! Pedro
  23. I am using Beta 4 so I'm going to post here - though it may be a general question. How do I add guides once I am in perspective warp or in Liquify Persona? It seems that the only is to exit liquify or warp, then add more guides, then return. Not sure if that's the case or if I'm doing something wrong, but for certain I have a strong need to add guides while I am refining perspective or balancing in liquify.
  24. I apologize if this question has already been asked and answered, but since I intend to buy a new laptop in the next month or so it is important for me to know how effectively Photo can use quad-core CPUs and dedicated GPUs? I'm leaning towards ultrabooks because of their superior mobility. However, if Photo is able to effectively use 4 cores and fast GPUs, I would rather get a beefier laptop, which is less mobile but offers more processing power. So, does anyone know what's crucial for good performance in Photo? Good single thread performance, additional cores or dedicated GPU? Thanks!
  25. Here is my first attempt at a self portrait using Affinity Photo on the iPad Pro with Pencil. Still needs some perfecting! It's such a great combination and will allow me to progress and experiment a whole lot more.
