  1. Will a toggle for outline view for layers be available in 1.6? This is pretty vital for tracing.
  2. Hello, I would like to show you a little progress of what I have been able to do thanks to affinity designer, I love this program
  3. Hello everyone! I would like to show you some portraits I did some time ago in Affinity Designer. It was fun! Let me know what do you think. You can see full project on my Behance: https://www.behance.net/gallery/49551783/Random-portraits-01-09
  4. Something I've been working on recently - http://houseofdeadleg.co.uk/portfolio/the-kings-hat/
  5. Hi, My export files seems like they have jpeg compression, they are not sharp. First I tought it was Instagram who did extra compression or gmail. But the original files on the HD are not good. So something goes wrong with the export. It's vector fom Designer. And I need an export for web. What are the best PNG settings? are what's going wrong? Thnx.
  6. I am currently evaluating the Windows trial version. I have been using Inkscape exclusively for vector illustration. One feature of Inkscape I use frequently is an align option that allows aligning the left edge of an object to the right edge of an anchor object (or vice-versa). I am not finding an equivalent option under the available align entries. Should I add this as a feature request or is it just buried somewhere that I haven't discovered yet? I use this align feature to implement shapes that are symmetrical. I create one half of the desired shape, duplicate, flip horizontal, align left and right edges, then combine the 2 shapes into one. Perhaps there is some alternative method to achieve the same effect?
  7. In vector portraits (Affinity Designer), eyes are always the most important thing. They are (as in "real" life) an absolutely meaningful view. In this example, I especially worked out the eyes. I 'm looking forward to your feedback, thank you :)
  8. Hi, When I freehand sketch ('Draw Persona'), Designer makes certain choices when interpreting my Vector Brush-ed or Pencil-ed lines into vectors. ¿¿ Is there a preference or settings dialog to control how accurate the resulting sketched path is?? Like: many nodes for 'Accurate', fewer nodes for 'Simplified, etc.? thanks, - pbass
  9. This is something I always had to work around in Illustrator. All object 3D transforms sharing the same perspective. I made it work by adding an empty rectangle that had neither a fill, nor a line to a group and did the transform on that. So I could add to it. For Affinity a new and more thought out system would make sense. What I'm suggesting is a basic 3D space. No raytracing or rendering tools here. Just a basic space where to put vector and pixel objects into and place them soundly with each other. A bit like Apple's Motion with rotation and 3D position tools. For compositing / matte painting the cherry on top would be the ability to import Alembic or FBX camera files with a distance readout on the Z-Buffer for fogs, fades and blurs (like a dynamic alpha). This new space could be the basis for a more sophisticated grid system to create single and multi-point perspective grids for various uses from lettering to comic book panels. Combined with the ability to toggle objects from their normal object type to guides (and back) this could make it very easy to visually create complex grid systems for perspective drawings. The lower level the implementation, the better. Think of a vector warp tool that adheres to its points being dragged in a 3D context. It would make wraparound logos a breeze. Or tin can label mockups that accurately match but still remain 100% live editable vector. For basic modelling an extrude/lathe would be expected though, since Illustrator has that. Badly done, but it's there.
  10. Haven't posted in awhile trying out some new styles. thx
  11. Hello everyone, I've created a Skillshare Class using Affinity Designer, called "Illustration from Pencil to Vector!". I'm planning on creating more classes with this great software, that I now use on a daily basis as a graphic designer. My class features the creation of a character, from the pencil and paper, to the fast vector tracing and coloring in Affinity. Please check it! Thanks! http://skl.sh/2kwCcXx
  12. Hello, I just downloaded the free trial of Affinity Designer and I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing something or if it's unavailable. I'm looking for an image trace option to take hand lettered sayings into scaleable vectors. I normally use Adobe Illustrator for this option but I can't afford the $20/month. This looks like a beautiful program so please, please have this!
  13. Hello everyone, I love this program, the interface is very appealing, the tools are super easy to understand and i've found my self coming back to this from illustrator a fair bit since the first beta to see how the program is progressing. I'm still trying to figure something out and as I've decided to fully migrated my work to Designer, it's time i seek help to solve this problem i continuously run into. 1. I have an image, it's very simple; just begging to be vectorised. 2. I made it into a vector using Super Vectoriser (because there was no vectorising function in affinity?!?) 3. I import the PDF into Designer and there are 3 distinctly seperate shapes. 4. My main question, how do i select one of these shapes and either move it to another layer, make it a different colour, do anything with it essentially....at the moment if i try make it a different colour to the other shapes everything changes, all i seem to be able to do is delete a shape by selecting the nodes. Surely i'm missing something here haha?? THANKYOU for any help. Very much appreciated - i usually find answers to my problems here but i couldn't find this in the forums..
  14. I made new file. Infographics. Thought work I meet with "Donut" and that is very helpful for infographics. https://goo.gl/WfSpEL Please tell me what you think for this file?
  15. Hi! New Mac user here! Before I buy Affinity I would like to know if it is possible to open, import and edit .CDR files.. Thank you!
  16. Straight-up newbie question from Christovw66 again folks, I've attached two reference images to help show the nature of this how-to question of mine. Pictured is a hand drawn image of a logo concept emailed to me by a friend. Using the donut shape tool I added the outer ring for contrast, and here is my question... ...what tool or which operation(s) can I use in AD to clean up the edge of the inner, solid black circle (seen in the close-up)? This inner black circle is also obviously not a perfect circle, which is the other thing I need to correct with this image...how best would I approach this? The logo appears to already be in vector form as the above mentioned 'rough-edge' does not pixelate upon zoom in. I appreciate any/all guidance on this, as I realize the questions are quite rudimentary. Honestly, I've tried to figure it out on my own - not being lazy, just have a shallow knowledge of AD ops at this point. Regards, -Christo
  17. Hi All, I used Affinity Designer, from start to finish to make this huge illustration for the upcoming event of a Belgian union (ACV), the text reads "equality makes the difference". Designer worked great on this one (Isometric grids! Infinite zoom! Global Colors!) and I plan on using it way more often for client work. Keep up the good work!
  18. Since the beginning of 2015, I have been working exclusively with Serif's program series. Here's an example of a vector work with Affinity Designer. I am looking forward to Serif's planned Publisher, who would make the package complete :-) http://b-bertuleit.de/vektor-arbeit-affinity-designer/
  19. I recently released a new product on Creative Market and thought I would share it with this community. 10 Vector Textures https://creativemarket.com/kylechicoine/1154116-Vector-Textures These textures were created using the Adobe Capture app, then setup for both Adobe Illustrator and Affinity Designer. I would love to hear what you think if you check these out. If you end up purchasing them, please share what you create with them. Thanks!
  20. Inspired by some guys who show their impressive cars in this forum; pure vector, without pixel persona. A lot of work, but it's fun to work with AD ;)
  21. Hi everybody ! I sent you an image as attachment and I would like to turn it into a vector image, because I would like edit it easy on my Affinity Designer. How can I do it ?
  22. What exactly is Vector? Is it a file format that lets you edit the whole file? if so what is the format type?
  23. I hope I'm missing something that so far doesn't feel so intuitive... I'm trying to export a (scaleable) PDF for print, and am unable to figure out how to flatten the image prior to export so that all colour/effects are incorporated into the file (without raster). I've tried multiple export options (PDF), but it feels like I'm missing a step. Is there a way to 'flatten' the 'group'? And is a scaleable PDF possible via any export option so that the resulting image appears as vector? Thanks in advance.
