Macro record. Draw shape (picks up current fill). Try to change fill colour. Flashes of hope then frustration of being pulled back to original colour.

HI I've checked the forum and did not find the answer to this, I'm trying to group several adjustment layers and standard layers while recording my macro, but I cannot select the layers individually in the layers panel to group them i get this popup asking me to pick a single layer. When i use the "select - select all layers" command it works, but when i run the macro (on a new file with multiple layers), any layer that is not locked gets placed in the group the macro created (i don't want this). Am i missing something, is there a better way to select the layers and group them while recording a macro? Forgot to mention i'm running affinity photo 1.7.3.481

I followed these instructions to batch edit my photos: https://affinity.help/photo/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Macros_Batch/batchjobs.html?title=Batch%20jobs as follows: save as Jpeg width = 1500 length left blank, PPI at 75 using a sample image The problem is, if the images in my batch are not exactly the same width as the sample to create the macro, my images are distorted. And vertical images become horizontal, or horizontal images become stretch out. I tried the same thing in Photoshop Cs6 using horizontal and vertical images but did not have this problem. Also, I can't find a save for web option that shows me what the image will look like when I reduce resolution size (as I can in Photoshop). Please advise. Thanks.

Hi I am following the workbook ...re create new macro. Unfortunately the "Create New Category" pane on the drop down preference does not respond. The other option on the drop down panel to "Import Macros" does respond no issues. I was trying to use my Huion Tablet Pen initially but given no response I tried the mouse on the mirrored computer screen...still no results. Fearing I may have erased the pathway with the pen toggle (as the bottom toggle is used to erase) I did a conditional factory reset...(Ctrl while launching) and just ticked the top 3 items to reset which includes the user preferences then restarted as well....but no change does this mean a re-install? is it a known issue? thanks for reading and any responses. Jude

Like playing with macro images, just not into expensive cameras. Took this at about 9:00 on a Sunday morning. Full sunlight, but the heavy growth behind this soon to be 3 headed flower literally looked black with very little adjusting. The L340 is completely autofocus --- or sometimes "auto-out-of-focus" might be a better description of this camera's ability. May post a few more of my macro images. I love looking for the unusual image. This one made me think of a three headed serpent. Thanks for looking.

Button mode with the ability to color code your macro's when veiwing them in the library would be a huge benefit. Even the ability to disable view of how many steps would help to save real estate in the library view. I'm a retoucher and have loads of macro's and find myself having to scroll up and down all the time to fine the macro i'm after.

Affinity Photo Crashes When Processing Batch Job
odyssey609 posted a topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
Hey all-- I've been attempting to batch export a number of affinity files to jpeg. When I do so, the program crashes every time. I am running a batch with one macro--add watermark, which involves opening a file as a layer and adjusting its position slightly. I am running 1.7.2 and have a fully updated MacBook Pro: 10.14.6. I have attached a photo of the basic specs for my computer. I have also attached a .rtf file of the crash report. I have plenty of free space on my hard drive, considering my computer was only bought five days ago. I adjusted the settings in the affinity photo preferences so that there is PLENTY of RAM to which it has access (it is actually on the max setting) and the warning for CPU usage is quite high, as well. I am attempting to save to jpeg, as I mentioned, with quality at 100. Last night, when I built the aforementioned macro, I attempted to batch export several files (4) and the operation was completed successfully. Today, I am not able to batch process even one photo without the program crashing. I have attempted to process this with parallel processing AND without parallel processing--neither has any effect on the crash. I read in another post (listed below) that this problem had been rectified with an update to the software; however, I can assure you it is still a problem. One of the most important reasons I have for using Affinity Photo is the ability to batch export. If this doesn't work, it will affect my ability to do my job--I certainly can't export photos one by one. I will also add that I have tried closing all applications on my computer, shutting it down, allowing it a tiny bit of rest, and turned it back on. I found that these actions did not affect the crash; however, I could not call myself IT (or a fan of IT Crowd) had I not attempted such a solution. I would appreciate any help you can offer. Please review all the details of my post before responding. Affinity Photo Crash Report.rtf- 2 replies

Is it possible to rename spare channels in a macro? Thanks!

As I read somewhere in the beta forums, the functionality of macro in AP was extended. Where can I find the description of those new functions? And in addition to that I will ask why there is no capability of macro recording for "save" and "close" documents operations. When doing mass editings this would be a great help. Thanks in advance for your reply.

I have two macros that I will run in a batch process against .tiff files to get ready for processing in Affinity Photo. The first macro makes a copy of the background layer and names it to "Color Efex Pro 4 - ". The second macro simply creates a new pixel layer and names it "Cleanup Layer". Both macros only have two steps. In AP 1.7.0.367 when I select say 12 files to run in the batch process and execute these two macros only 2 or 3 (it is not consistent in the number if will process) then the batch process will end without error and AP will shutdown. On restarting AP there is no indication that any sort of error has taken place. That is the mail problem. The second problem is that in the Library panel the option to Edit a macro is greyed out. I found this when I was going to open the macro to look at the code. The options to Delete Macro or Rename Macro are active but the Edit Macro is greyed out. I have attached an export of Editing Macros - Marvin.afmacros for your use in testing. In this library category the two files I am call in the batch process are "Create Layer for Color Efex Pro 4" and "Create Cleanup Layer". I call them in that order. These macros have been running for about a year without any difficulty in Batch processing batches containing as many as 40 .tiff files. The error I have described above is happening when I try a batch of only 12 files. Running Windows 10 with latest updates. Thank you Marvin "Butch" Reinhart Editing Macros - Marvin.afmacros

As a photographer, I create macros to make my life easier and save time on repetitive tasks. I've created a simple macro that resizes the image canvas and flattens the image. I want to also include saving and closing the image, but I keep getting a dialog asking if I want to save the flatten image. My answer to the dialog box question is always 'Yes'. Why can't I just record my dialog box choices into the macro?

Hello! New member to the forums here and a few weeks old user of Affinity Photo for iPad. Still trying to get the hang of it and the official tutorials and searching the forum for answers as been a big help so far. Something I have not found how to do yet though, is how to create your own macros from within Affinity Photo for iPad. Have found several forum threads on how to import macros, but find no posts on how to create them. It would be great to have a simple macro to run, to create certain layers right from the start before going into retouching and editing, instead of having to do it manually each time. Best

I am somewhat new to affinity but not photo programs, I was trying to batch some Cr2 RAW from canon to jpeg for facebook uploads, when i go to create the macro all I am doing is sharpening, I would loved to create the presets or macro in the persona ? and not have to go into develop just to do that, maybe I'm missing something, these are just quick changes nothing super important. I open the RAW and exposure looks good just needs a tad sharpening....however after the batch they are 1-2 stops darker, i can't hardly judge batching them from the develop to the batch for the macro original and batched attached I just don't understand why or what I am missing, well i'd upload the files but i get an error 200 so here is a couple screen grabs you can see the difference in the brightness but like i mentioned all I'm doing is batch converting to jpeg and a sharpening, even if i don't do the sharpen it still makes them darker

The title pretty much says it all... Being able to assign a keyboard shortcut to a frequent action means I can assign it to a mouse button or a button on a drawing tablet, StreamDeck or a macro control app on a smartphone/tablet... This has been a critical and massively time saving part of my workflow for years and feels like a huge step backwards not having it in AF. Incidentally, this seems like it COULD be an incredibly easy thing to implement (guessing <1 hour for one skilled programmer..?) and I'll bet with enough support we can have it in the next update!?

This is a follow-up to the previous bug report (with attachments) titled "Batch Process Fails with version 1.7.0.367" submitted on 7 June and updated that the same problem occurs under version 1.7.1.404. Today, I tried to run a batch process against 21 files that ran one macro which simply created a copy of the background layer and then renamed the new layer. Again, as with the two macro problem, it processed two files and then quit without an error. It was at that time that I discovered another error in that the .afphoto file created by the batch process is more than twice as large as the file that I created by dragging the same .tiff file processed by the batch process into Affinity Photo, running the macro to create a new layer and rename it, and then manually saved the file. The file size of the .afphoto file created by the batch process was 359mb the size of the afphoto file created by manually taking these steps was 159mb. There is something wrong in the batch process. If you need a copy of the macro I use or the files that were created I can upload them. Further, I would say that I have been running these macros for a long time under previous versions without any problem. Thank you.

Say my first image has a dimension of 1862 x 1236, if I resize the image and enter 800px into width field, the height automatically updates to 532px Input image = 1862 x 1236, Output image = 800 x 532 Input image = 1748 x 1089, Output image = 800 x 498 I want to create a macro so that the width of all the images on which the macro is applied becomes 800 and the height changes proportionately. Presently if I record a macro it records to resize all images to 800 x 532

I have created macros on one workstation. I then use the export button on the macro panel to individually export each macro. For some reason a file must be open to do so. Once exported I transfer the file to our internal server from which my colleague copies the file to his workstation. He opens a file and then clicks the import button on the macro panel and when he selects one and clicks to import, it crashes. Any ideas?

Hi, I have a Mid 2015 15 inch Macbook Pro running the OSX 10.14.4 and Affinity photo 1.7.1. I've been experiencing some immediate crash issues since previous Affinity Photo 1.6.6 whenever I tried to launch a batch job (won't even show the first dialog window) and the same happens if I try to saved a recorded a Macro. Application just die without further information, just quits immediately. A few months back I heard about the new release (1.7) so I just waited for it to come out hoping this new software release will solve this weird behavior. But some far no luck at all. I've run some basic "troubleshooting" procedures such as uninstall/re-install, update software version, update OS version; but still any luck. Any ideas of what can be the cause for such annoying behavior?
