  1. So, I posted elsewhere the problems with new installer . The SO CALLED option to install to another drive is terrible. Look that the MESS of a directory it creates It is important for a lot of COMPANIES and WORKFLOWS to have correct directory structures. The inability to INSTALL the APPS where you want is a massive problem for a lot of us in the GRAPHIC DESIGN world ( particularly in FILM ). I create graphics for movies and CONTRACT to many companies. I have had two notices this morning to stop using AFFINITY file formats and migrate to AI and EPS only. This is due to the NEW INSTALLER and they do not want to USE V2 because of it. Many of the companies and scripts and backups and a very strict workflow based on where things are and was the reason i was given. I just got away from finally use of ADOBE software. Now i have to start a SUBSCRIPTION again. This is a two fold issue in my case. FIRST off, I now need to spend more more money and go back to ADOBE . Two the companies are not PURCHASING V2 of AFFINITY Software ( one of the companies alone has 35 seats of the software ) .So now I have to output money for ADOBE and AFFINITY if i wish to keep using it. I love AFFINITY Software. Never had any complaints about what they have done or where they are going. BUT THIS IS A BIG SCREW UP in my eyes. We DON'T use ANY software that doesn't allow us a choice on where to INSTALL. PLEASE SERIF for those that are reading this and listening, Please give us the choice of the old installer and keep the users. Hope to hear something soon. Gary

For some reason my shop account can't login, even though I was sure about the password, but it was wrong until my account was locked, I tried to change the password, but I only got a repeated email link, even though in the near future I want to buy the product 😐 I hope someone can solve this problem 😅
  3. So I've added a document below. I did custom text with the path tool in AD. When I use the 'expand stroke' function the appearance changes. It becomes thinner, and it shouldn't. The appearance also changes when I do exports via the export persona. I am using Affinity Designer v1.8.4 expand stroke difference.afdesign
  4. Problem Currently, changing the stroke weight is a two step process, where you first have to click to activate the dropdown to actually change the settings. There is plenty of space in the UI to access the stroke paramter directly, see below: Stroke settings.mp4 Proposal Therefore, I propose to make the parts of the UI that display the stroke size (highlighted in red) a value box. That way, it takes one click to change the settings. When doing so, the dropdown should still be displayed to get access to the additional settings. I could even see the stroke preview box becoming a slider (just like you can click drag on top of text boxes for feather and opacity in the pixel persona), because it wouldn't hamper its ability to serve as preview pane: Stroke settings slider.mp4 The stroke weight settings need to be accessed more than the other stroke settings and it is much quicker to input the size directly and avoids mousing over to the other input box. I also find it annoying to see the value that I want to change being displayed, with no immediate access to it.
  5. Hi, This is my first attempt at using Affinity Designer and have come to a hurdle; I am trying to edit the text on an existing logo that was created in AI. I cannot seem to be able to select the text, is this maybe because it has been rasterised? Is there a way I can do this please? Thanks.

  7. Hi Forum! I'm changing from Mac to Windows in a few weeks and would like to change all my software so it works with the windows system. I was wondering if there is any way of switching my Mac Affinity purchases and simply change it to be a Windows key. I won't really be using my mac so I won't need the mac key anymore (this is where the "is that even possible? Or is a activated key already 'locked' " question arises). I understand that I can't have the program on both my Mac and my Windows and that this would need to be two separate keys, but in this case I'm thinking of completely switching. I also want to say that I love the Affinity program and don't really have a huge problem paying for a second set for windows. I'm simply asking in-case there is a way of doing this? Hi, I recently started my first larger piece in AD and since than had a lot of issues with the program freezing my whole pc(have to close the file or go into task manager so it works properly multible times in a sitting), getting really slow when I'm working in a deep layer structure, brush size scaling with tablet pen, adding anchor points with a tablet pen and much more. All things I also see people complaining in the forum and hopefully get fixed some day. A recent bug that drives me insane is this: I want to duplicate and flip a vector drawing in the designer persona. so I just duplicate and flip the folder like I always did in Adobe. The flipped image isn't the same as the original. There are bits and pieces changed and I just can't get it to simply look like the original. Anyone has experienced this and knows a way to fix this?
  9. Note: See below for update on 1.7.2.471, it's still happening. Using AD 1.5.2.58 on Windows 10. Is this a feature that I just don't understand or is it a bug? If I have rounded corners on a shape and then reduce the DPI of the document, AD increases the rounding amount. Workflow to replicate: * Create new A4 300DPI document using points as the UOM. * Add a triangle (any size will do) - actual shape doesn't matter but a triangle shows the issue nicely. * Use the Corner Tool to give any (or every) corner a radius of 2pt. * De-select and use Document Setup to change the DPI down to 72. * Select the triangle. * Go to Corner Tool. The radius (wherever it was applied), in my case, has been changed from 2pt to 8.3pt. The 2pt value seems to have been increased by the same ratio between 72DPI and 300DPI, I.e. 300/72 = 4.16(recurring) and 2*4.16 = 8.3(recurring). Increasing the document DPI from 72 back to 300 returns the corner radius back to its original value. Have I just misunderstood how things work or is there something wrong? It just doesn't seem right to me. I want to edit the color of multiple objects at the same time, independently of their color, Gradients, stroke, transparency, etc Something like this: In illustrator there was two diferent ways to accomplish that, including other modifications available (As saturation and brightness for example), with its own settings panel Do Affinity Designer have a tool/feature that allow to modify the color of one or many objects to other colors?
  11. Windows 10 Home 1809, Publisher 1.7.0.257. When I change the document DPI, some things change but others don't. Consider the attached document. The first image shows the document at 300DPI. The second image shows the same document at 144DPI. The visible size of the corners of the rectangle increase - the absolute sizes in the context bar have also increased - and so has the visible width of the paragraph decoration - but the sizes in the Paragraph panel are as before. However, the thickness of the rectangle stroke is the same, as is the size of the text and also the height of the text decoration. Why do some things change and some others don't?   12. Hello Team ! Hello Everyone ! Glad to make this suggestion for the good of Affinity and Designers or just Users who joined the move and those considering to join the move. My point is about not killing things that we already love but making them even better and i hope this won't become a troll. To my sight, the celebrissime Liquify Persona need to be reviewed and improved, boosted or upgraded (take it as you want). Actually, a persona is not just something we click at but it is an identity to a type of Designer/ Creative Person/People and it is time to make it reflect those of us who identify their style through that Persona. ___________________________________________ Having a Persona to only twirl, Freeze, push etc ... some couple of Pixel is good but ... there is more to it. I suggest the Liquify Persona to be upgraded and maybe renamed to fit with the real style it is supposed to reflect: Photo Manipulation or Photo Composition (here too call like you want). I suggest more tools to be put in there that will help make the Photo Composition/Manipulation happen from that precise place with dedicated tools and even it can be the opportunity to develop new tools that fit the Manipulation/Composition Style. i'm not asking for tool to be removed from the Pixel Persona, not at all but asking for the Pixel/Photo Persona to be less loaded from its first approach for sure a user could decide to customize his toolbox like we currently are allowed to do but if that user is a Photo Manipulator/Compositor then he should load everything he want (photos) using the Pixel/Photo Persona then switch to the dedicated Manipulation/Composition Persona and do his work from that place. The workflow could be like this: 1- Load an image (or many images) on the Pixel Persona then select the object we want to work with 2- click the Manipulation/Composition Persona then be presented with necessary tools for that precise job, from Selection brush, Flood Selection, to inPainting not forgetting all liquify tools but all those should now be in more advanced mode giving more flexibility and settings to fine tune the work. 3- Do the job and when done click on Apply to switch back to the Pixel/Photo Persona which is the central place and see the result. Then do the same again and again with all other layers who need to be transformed or manipulated 4- the upgrade should give the user the opportunity through a button (like the After/Before) to view full stack of layer in low opacity mode which can be increased or decreased (but the user should only be allowed to work on one layer at a time. 5- All Color Grading work can happen in the Develop Persona or in the Pixel/Photo Persona (here for those who need to control) 6- The Tone Mapping Persona wold be helpful for fine tuning the thing with rich presets, LUT or Manual stuffs. Well all this must be given the possibility to be non destructive, meaning i must be able to select a layer in my stack anytime, at any level of progress and switch back to the Manipulation Persona and redo this or fine tune more that etc... More focus in the Non Destructive aspect will actually increase the value of the software. I know the move you are taking with making Designer and Photo to be kind of sub or Persona for Publisher but still Photo should be improved on its own because Photo compositor/Manipulators won't buy Publisher just because it is not what they do but a more enriched Photo software ... Well Yes many would go for it no complex to what already exist. This topic is open to more adds that can help Devs to figure this out. Even if they don't implement it with 1.7 Beta cycle, it is something they may take serious and consider to fine tune and implement in coming version and we can help here. I'm only 1 Brain, yours are needed for more power, Step out of the Purist areas and come help build great with you original ideas.   13. Background: I've been using InDesign since version 1.0 jumping away from PageMaker and Quark 3.0. My studio uses InDesign six days a week and builds publications from one page to 50 regularly. I'm going to document my test of Affinity Publisher, and I would be interested in how it is going for other studios. Is anyone planning on making the switch before the beta ends? My reasons for looking at alternatives are price and cloud integration. Adobe increased the CC subscription price. Stinky, but what bothers me more is the constant need to integrate the cloud. Every day I wait for the InDesign font-sync to load. Grab a coffee and cookie. Before that was active hyperlink checking. It's a constant problem. My Adobe subscription renews in three weeks. Perfect time for a serious workflow test. Day 1: Download and test 14 page document test. Quickly learned that layers aren't right, but found out that layers will be adjusted in future versions. Day 2: Single page flier test Typesetting a quick color form. No layers. I enjoyed the experience. Good Tabs Alignment Paragraph styles Clip to canvas (love it; some of us like to use preview in InDesign. Some like regular view. This is a happy medium). Bad No padding in a text frame (I didn't see it) I didn't see a way to make a non-breaking space
  14. which tool to use to change color of parts of background to color of something else in photo? For example, there are streetlights, I want to paint them the color of the sky behind the lights. I am very new to the tool. I thought brush tool could do this but it seems like you have to choose a standard color and cannot choose one from photograph. Eraser? Please advise. Thank you! Larissa
  15. Hi, I'm working on a file at the moment and suddenly the colours won't change in it. I'm selecting everything properly and using the eyedropper and nothing is happening. Again, this isn't an problem with selecting objects. It literally only happens in this one file. Perhaps I've selected something I shouldn't have? Thanks for your help.
  16. It would be nice to be able to change the line properties of more then one objekt(/layer) at the time. Say you have twenty different geometry objects (causing twenty layers) and want to set the line width to the same value or change the line style of all to the same, you normally would select all layers and adjust the settings. Currently it's not possible in AP; I have to select and ajdust every layer one after another. One solution is to grup the layers, but in some cases this won't work; e.g. when they are already grouped with ather layers which have their own styles (e.g. rectangle with outline/no fill and text layer with fill but no outline). Changing color instead works for all in one go.
  17. I would like to change in the picture the color black to orange. I tried it with and without selecting everything, adding adjustment layers over the menu, the tool window, I tried the color replacement tool - but nothing worked as expected. I am sure that there is an easy way - but I am to stupid to find it. Any help is highly appreciated. project-management.afphoto
  18. Hey guys, I've tried to search this topic, but couldn't quite find it. Although I think it should exist somewhere: Sometimes (not always) when expanding a stroke, the vector lines change and straight lines bend. Has anyone else had this happen? I've attached an example with before and after. Pay attention to the upper line after expanding the stroke. It always requires additional touch up to straighten the lines and can get quite annyoing if there are multiple cases of this happening ;) macOS 10.11.6 (El Capitan) Affinity Designer 1.5.5 Cheers!

  21. Hey. I have a shape in a document with a specific fill color (bright blue) with noise. In another document, I have a different document i have a shape that I would like to give the same fill color and also add noise. I filled the shape with the exact same color. Everything looks identical. However, as soon as I add noise, the color shifts towards green. Even if I drag the noise slider to zero again, the color shift stays. Any ideas? I am using Affinity Designer 1.4.1
  22. Hey, One feature that always bugs me is the fact in the history of a document, selecting or deselecting an object is included. I find it irritating that there isn't at the very least an option to not include this in the history as it is something so minimal that can lead to you losing a huge chunk of your history should you want to temporarily go back and accidentally (de)select an object as that loses any progress you made in that time. I understand sometimes it can be helpful, but most of the time I find it to be a nuisance. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, Harry
  23. Within Affinity Designer 1.5.4, I opened an Illustrator CC (.ai) file that was saved with PDF content. Within the "PDF Options" dialog, at the bottom it said I had a missing font (a Japanese font). I clicked on the Replacement Family popup but could not find the font so I just clicked the Open button. The document opened with all text that used that "missing" font converted to a generic font. I then choose the Text tool and selected some of that text, and I then clicked on the Font popup in the upper left. Low and behold, there was my "missing" font within that popup. Selecting the font made the selected text look normal again, albeit with messed up kerning. So wouldn't you say this be a bug? For truly, if the font is really there (and since I proved that after opening the file), the very fact Affinity Designer said the font was missing seems like a bug to me. I now have a related question. In Illustrator whenever this sort of thing happens, after I open a document I can then easily click on the Type menu and choose "Find font..." That opens the Font Font dialog which gives me an at-a-glance overview of all the fonts in the document, showing me which is missing (if any). I can then quickly and easily choose a font to substitute from the bottom half of that dialog, and with a mere click of the "Change All" button, I can substitute my replacement font throughout the document. How does one accomplish that using Affinity Designer? Surely there must be an easy way to tell Affinity Design how to substitute fonts throughout a document? Thank you.
