  1. I created a graphic in Affinity Photo that my client wants a PSD file of. I saved out the file as a "PSD (preserve editability)". When I opened the new PSD file in Photoshop the HSL layers that are masked to groups or pixel layers were not preserved, but HSL layers that are on their own layer are preserved. I then added back the HSL layers that didn't come over to Photoshop. Then I applied the same settings from the HSL layer in Affinity Photo to the HSL layer in Photoshop but the results didn't turn out the same. I played around with the settings to discover that the Hue Shift setting in Photoshop had to be set opposite from the Hue Shift setting in Affinity Photo to get the same results. Is this a bug or purposeful? So to recap, the two issues were: 1. HSL layers were not preserved when masked to groups or pixel layers when saved as PSD 2. When adding the HSL layers in Photoshop the Hue Shift setting had to be opposite of the same setting in Affinity Photo to get the same results. (see attached screenshot)
  2. I tried to purchase both Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer today based upon the special offers of $29.99 and $39.99 respectively. However the prices are not reflected correctly in the App Store. They are both selling for their full price. Is there some way of correcting this? I tried contacting Apple Support, but they referred me to the forum here. I could not find a contact link anywhere on the Affinity Serif website.

  4. OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 This issue seems to affect files following a save. Open png or jpeg file. Edit file e.g. make use of healing brush tool. Save file. This creates an afphoto file. No longer able to continue editing (afphoto). Close application. Open image file (png / jpeg). Edit file save - no longer able to edit. Currently thinking this purchase was a waste of money!

  8. I shot this at fairly high iso (6400) at Eberbach Monastery's wine cellar and stitched it up in Affinity Photo without a hitch. https://500px.com/photo/160881441 The location may seem familiar if you've seen the Sean Connery movie "The Name of the Rose". I'm doing pretty much all of my panoramas in Affinity Photo now. The 32-Bit float ones I still do in PTgui pro for now, but that's about it. Which may change with v1.5 and the HDR bubble feature. ;)
Hi, In this Affinity Photo Tutorial, I show you how to create the metal text effect. Because you need a metal gradient, which is not included in Affinity Photo, I provided already a video, where I show how to create a metal gradient: YouTube Tutorial: create, save & export a metal gradient If you already know to handle the gradient tool, I show here the metal gradient including the color codes. Farbcodes Metall Verlauf (von links nach rechts) / color codes gradient (from left to right): #656C72 #F1FAF9 #848587 #595959 #919B9D #66686C Have fun with the video. 10. 11. Hi, I have problems with the COLOR RANGE in AP. I want to select color tones. My steps: 1. Selecting a color with the color picker 2. Activate this color 3. "Selection" - "color range" At step 3 there happens a lot of strange things. a. Sometimes it works. Good! (no problem) b. Sometimes it isn't possible to click the "color range". It isn't choosable. (problem) c. Sometimes (png with cut-out background) it selects only the whole "shape". It isn't adjustable. (problem) I don't understand which reason could cause that. I use JPG-files and tried different ways to import. - dragging into AP - Media Browser - "open with..." - rastering / not rastering Could anybody help me? Ciao Jack

  14. Hi all, back at it again, for those who know me i've worked on a lot of tutorials for both Affinity Designer & Photo, i've also shared a lot of my design work, menus, comic strips etc. I also have a deep love for photography especially what's know as Street Photography. Was out in Shaftesbury Avenue in London at the weekend and managed to capture this fine young gentleman, pretty sure he's in the wrong line of work. Anyway, I shot this on my Panasonic G7, Samyang 50MM and edited of course in none other than the app called Affinity Photo.... Allan

    Fake MMA Promo

I've owned both Affinity Photo and Designer for a while now, and after finally having enough of Adobe, PS, LR, AI, etc... I've decided to really work A-Photo and A-Designer, to really see if I can finally replace the "other guys" for good. So far, I've only found a few things that I can do in PS that I can't do in AP. But overall, it's just a simple matter of learning how to get around some interface differences. There are features I wish/hope to see in future releases of AP, but as of now, I'm a loyal fan, owner, and user of these great apps. Attached is a fake MMA promo I made for no other reason than to try to create something I had previously created in PS. Overall, my only hang-up was just getting to know the interface a bit better. And of course how AP handles certain operations differently than PS. I was able to work faster in AP that I have been able to in PS, which is a huge plus. AP seems faster, snappier, and more responsive. PS has become very laggy over the past year or so, and I find myself using it less and less as time goes on... well, I imagine I'll be using it almost never at this point. :) Here it is, the fake MMA Promo. Photography and graphics are all done by me, the photo was processed months ago in LR, exported out as a JPEG. Everything else is AP.
  19. Hey guys, I recently started a new personal project, using Affinity Designer & Affinity Photo. It's called "10 x 10 diary". A 10cm X 10cm graphic project by a reading disorder graphic designer. I upload my design diary on my Instagram everyday. Here is some pics! :P https://www.instagram.com/jiefeiyang/
  20. I've been a pretty sophisticated Photoshop user for ages and was happy to see most of the familiar functions, tasks and key commands I've been familiar with using all these years are mirrored in Affinity Photo. I was, however, baffled by one of the most basic functions in any photo editing app, namely making a selection and then copying and pasting it to a new layer. No matter how I've tried numerous ways of accomplishing this after first selecting a layer, creating a selection, alternately using either Cmd+C or the Edit Menu to copy it and then: 1) Creating a new layer, making it the active layer and using Cmd+V 2) Simply pressing Cmd+V with the current layer selected 3) Holding down the Option key and dragging the selected area... The ONLY result that consistently shows up being affected is the actual selection itself—NOT the content! Am I crazy?...what am I missing here?
  21. ...rather than have to first rasterize (convert to pixel) layer before being allowed to copy selection to new layer.
  22. I just purchased Affinity Photo but how can make it as the External Editor for Photo app, OSX El Capitan. Thanks.
  23. Here is my latest concept art for Luminare Saga, my client's top-down game. The attached images show my steps in creating this. All work done with Affinity Photo. You can see more of these and some of my process on my Artstation profile.
  24. My latest project with AP, the cover for the thriller (novel) „Das Opfermesser“ (means something like "The sacrificial knife“). The novel by the german author Simon Geraedts will appear as an eBook & print edition (This work won a competition on a german designer portal; this is my first prize, I'm totally happy). :) However ... is there too much blood? http://b-bertuleit.de/das-opfermesser
