I used AD to draw and slice single glyphs for my new comic book font... regular is done, others (italic, bold, bold ilalic) are still in progress.

I just wanted to let you all know that I started a YouTube channel that is dedicated to making Affinity Photo tutorials. I have 9 videos posted now, but will definitely be making more. I really love Affinity Photo, and although I'm not a master, I wanted to share the things that I have learned! :)

In my defence, I've never used Illustrator but I'm a long-time user of Serif DrawPlus. The latter has QuickShapes which work quite like the shapes in Affinity Designer, except that AD has some extra goodies like easily achieved horizontal, vertical or diagonal symmetry. Oh, and right angles!

I love your work Enrique, I'm going to have a go at this when we get some downtime  B)

I'm guilty of stuff like that too. Too many years of muscle memory working on tight deadlines...

Yet another great tutorial, Enrique! I particularly like your wonderful trick for drawing those horns.
 
I have a quick question about the cartoony arms. Is there any particular reason why you prefer to subtract a shape from a full donut, instead of getting the final shape by setting the 'enclosed angle' to an appropriate value (which is the way I would usually do it)?

This is an early beta of a substantial change to our codebase and as much as we have tried to ensure the quality of the code, it should be considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that you may be adversely affected by the application failing. In addition it is definitely worth noting that files created in Affinity 1.5 cannot be opened in 1.4 so always make a copy of your important documents before opening them in 1.5 to ensure you do not accidentally overwrite them and are unable to open them in your 1.4 version.
 
To use this beta, simply download the file from the link given above and double-click on the file to open the installer. Follow the instructions to install the beta version. The beta sits alongside the Mac App Store version and will not interfere with it.
 
Fixes/Improvements:
Fix for macOS Sierra display issues Fix for pasting text from the clipboard New 'Accumulation' dynamic for pixel brushes - take note Paolo Limoncelli! (this is the same as Opacity variance in other editors) Fix for moving an item into a symbol with syncing turned off actually syncing to all instances when it shouldn't Added new 'Create palette from Image' option to the Swatches panel's menu. This allows you to specify a source image and how many colours you would like and their destination palette. Fix for deleting the first/last node of a curve inadvertently causing the shape to change Pen Tool now shows the nodes of the current selection smaller when you start to draw a new curve out, to signify the new state you are entering Added EXR and HDR import/export formats Pressing Escape during guide creation or object transforming now cancels correctly Creating assets with constraints should now function predictably if you dragged the item into the Assets panel (its position was wrong, previously) Fix export of vector stroke brushes to vector formats Fix for Undo/Redo of artboard positioning when used from the History panel Fix for marching ants incorrect behaviour when zoomed in past 100% in Pixel view mode Assets will warn when they are used if they contain fonts the user does not have installed. Just wanted to share my last work with Affinity Designer. This is part of a series of about 15 characters for a web comic called "We are the Freaks". We're still in the very initial phase of the project. Hope you dig :) as always, all kind of critique would be more than welcome.
 

Ash takes a quick look at two of the new features which will be coming to Affinity Designer in version 1.5: Constraints and Symbols.
MattP also posted a small demo/preview of Symbols some time ago here.
 
If you pay attention to the first video you may also discover a highly requested feature/improvement.... :)
