DM1 got a reaction from augustya in Want to make colour changes only to subject not the entire image. How do I do that ?
I have moved the layer so it is not nested (not a child layer), then nested it back to the subject layer see screen recording.
You could just move the fill layer above the adjustment layers. Adjustments only effect all layers below them. Nesting the adjustment restricts there effect to the parent layer.🙂

A nested layer is the same as a child layer: the child layer is nested to its parent.

Your filters need to be nested to the layer you want them applied to (i.e. the subject, not the fill layer)🙂

DM1 reacted to 3DJ in why do affinity design docs open in photo on ipad?
@DM1 @Alfred Thanks guys, it “appears” to be working now. I launched it through the share with and selected Designer and it seems to have an association with it now. I tested by also opening Photo and going to another design file and opened it… it went straight to Designer. Hopefully it stays this way.

    Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @Enzee.
Draw a grid with the Pen Tool, add a new Pixel layer on top, and choose the Flood Fill Tool. If you set the Source to ‘Current Layer & Below’ the lines of the grid will constrain the flood fill to lie within the grid cell where you tap (or click on the desktop version).

    Thanks for your feedback,
I contacted Nikon France who had my camera just before I started to go on vacations and when I talked about the red dots they told me to bring back the camera to the store for another check.
Looks like they may have done something bad on my sensor in the end. When I return home early in August I’ll check that and keep you all posted about the results 😉

Shoot raw brackets if your camera supports it and HDR merge them in AP.
Several methods. Simplest? Duplicate and set layer blend mode to multiply and adjust opacity.

Correct. Affinity's pencil setup is unable to register a long press. Pity, as it’s not an iOS issue.

Thanks so much, DM1!  I was able to select and adjust curves.  AND, once I removed the file from affinity photo and re-imported it, the red eye tool actually worked!   I have no idea what I had done to make it NOT work  - on my first try to use the red eye tool when I first imported, I got a slight amount of red eye reduction but not nearly enough.  I believe this falls under the "turn it off and back on" category  of solutions to problems 😀  Now I know how to do it both ways.

    I really appreciate your help!!

The Context toolbar for the Freehand Selection Tool has a control for ‘Mode’ (New, Add, Subtract, or Intersect) as well as a control for ‘Type’ (Freehand, Polygonal, or Magnetic).

I’m surprised the red eye tool had little effect. (See how it works below).
Now to answer your question: Select the image layer. Make sure it’s a pixel layer but if it says image just rasterise it. Use the Selection Persona, choose Smart Selection brush tool, zoom in to iris, and set brush size to around 2 px’s. Now paint over the red. If you select too much just switch to subtract in context menu. Add and subtract as needed. Once selected just tap the  Adjustment Studio and select curves. The effect will be masked to the selected area automatically.🙂

If you create your own Albums (folders) under My Albums in the photo library, you get the option to sort them. It limited but at least you get some control. Custom leaves them as you place them. The other are by date.

I'm assuming that it's the rather hard, jagged areas that you are trying to get rid of. I tried selecting them, feathering the selection, then using the Levels settings to match them as closely as possible with the surrounding area. Then I used the Healing Brush to soften the edges and blend the areas together.

DM1 reacted to Alfred in About the linear curve in the contrast and brightness…(Ipad)
Switching on the ‘Linear’ option makes any brightness/contrast adjustment linear, but in your screenshot you have brightness and contrast both set to zero (i.e. no adjustment). If you change the brightness and/or contrast to non-zero values you should see a difference.

DM1 reacted to Dan C in Eyedropper problem, changing hex codes in CYMK to RGB
    Hi @Robger,
    Many thanks for your report!
I can confirm I've replicated this issue here, as well as finding a few more interesting results when following this workflow.
For example, if you colour pick the first object and apply it to the second, then select the first object and switch the Colour Studio view to CMYK sliders, you'll see one set of values. Selecting to the second object will show a different set of values, then switching back to the first object will show the same values that the second object showed - which doesn't match the values you were first shown for this object when switching the Colour Studio view options.
I have logged these all with our developers now for further investigation and to hopefully be fixed in an upcoming update.
I'll be replying to your email shortly, to confirm the above also. I hope this helps

Apologies, I'm not quite sure what happened here so I'll have my manager check this with the mod who replied originally, thanks for brining this to our attention!

DM1 got a reaction from Chris B in NEF Photo imported from Photos appears with huge pixels
There is a known bug which results in the jpg image 'placeholder' being loaded instead of the raw file. If I remember correctly you can drag the image and drop it onto the AP app icon or the apps Home Screen and it will open correctly. There is a beta version available that includes some fixes for NEF files. Maybe try that? It loads in addition to the store version soyou won’t lose any work🙂

    Thank you DM1 😉
in fact I found a simplest way to find all the raw files.
You enter "RAW" in the search field of the photos app, you'll get all the raw photos.
(It does not work with "jpeg" ou "jpg")

Ok, i found a way to have them ok in Affinity Photo by sending the picture from Photos to Files.
Once done I can open them correctly with Affinity Photo.

DM1 got a reaction from Alfred in Create Red RGB Channel Layer on iPad
If you want to create a red channel layer on iPad:
    1. Duplicate the background layer by selecting it in Layer Studio and tapping Duplicate in Commands Menu.
    2. Rename duplicate layer to 'Red' to avoid confusion.
    3. Select this new Red layer in Layer Studio and tap Channel Studio.
    4. In Channel Studio tap the 3 dots alongside the green and blue channels, tapping Clear in the pop up menu each time.
You now have a red only channel layer in layer studio.  🙂
