I think the best logos strip away any superfluous detail. Ask yourself if the plug was completely absent from the centre of the sun, could you use the other shapes to simultaneously convey a sun AND a plug… because those sun rays could easily become the prongs of a plug… -
A video showing the process I use to clean up a character design for logo/ mascot. Using combinations of Pen, Stroke settings, Corner Tool, and Geometry subtractions. The final version would involve removing any white elements, a few more geometry subtractions, and making sure all strokes are expanded before Adding all paths together. I can also see a few design choices… like making sure his feet are flat if I spent more time on it, if it wasn’t a demo(I like bending curves) ☺️ Hope you like, let me know what you think, or if there are any questions IMG_2551.MOV

This is a process breakdown video to show what method I use to colour and finish a character concept in Affinity Designer on iPad. I’ll start with the main outline, adding extra line details, and then filling in colour using gradients (no brushes) IMG_2546.MOV

Going through the routes mentioned above is probably your best bet. Sometimes you just have to go through a painstaking process to find what your looking for. (Or you could always do by hand - old school) -
Don’t know where else to post this, but had a suggestion for the forums. Would be good to see a few more areas for general discussion in art & design, reacting to things in the news etc

Separate shapes and strokes; so I’ll start with the overall outline and ‘fill-in’ with solid colour layers beneath

Off the top of my head, I think you’re best to create a precise grid of squares over the entire image (you can construct as strokes and convert to grid), then create multiple copies of the overall image equal to the amount of tiles, then crop - export each part of the grid multiple times. The tiles should align afterwards
