Pixel and Poly got a reaction from dominik in Screentone Asset Pack - 80 vector objects
The Asset Pack contains 80 clean vector assets. Almost all of the assets are set up for easy tiling. They are all solid objects with no stroke so you can easily apply any fills, gradients or fx to the objects. The PDF has some more info and lists all of the individual assets.
    https://gum.co/screentone
The assets are broken into six sub groups:
    100mm screentone blends (7 assets)
60mm screentone dot tints (19 assets)
    300mm screentone blends (6 assets)
300mm screentone dot tints (19 assets)
300mm screentone reverse dot tints (10 assets)
300mm screentone line tints (19 assets)

You pretty much have to have the link as the link "http://www. etc etc" and then It can work.

Pixel and Poly got a reaction from Gianni Rondinini in [Designer] How to set up project with multiple designs (similar layout, different colors)?
I would probably just have one artboard for all the bills and then have all of the elements that are the same between them at the bottom in one (or a few) layers.
Then I would have a separate layer for each of the denominations where you can have the specific $ amounts and any specific pictures.
If you need to change any of the base features you just need to adjust them once. If you really want separate art boards using Symbols like @Alfred suggested is probably the way to go. There are some video tutorials on symbols on their YT/Vimeo channel.

Well no wonder it can't be parsed, it's a PDF 1.5 file and not an EPS file. Just change it's extension from EPS to PDF and then retry opening it in AD etc.

Are you trying to align Text to the left or align different objects to the left?

If it's text: you can just add 8px to the left indent in the paragraph settings.
If it's objects you can align them to the left and then nudge them over 8px with the arrow keys. You can set the nudge distance in the preferences in the Tools section.

Pixel and Poly reacted to FxRphoto in 16bits files TIFF Compression, again...
    Hi,
I just made a quick look in Affinity Photo beta 1.7.0.99. Not enough time to dive further in, for now. But, once again, might you please add a choice for TIFF compression, or at least don't use LZW. ZIP would produce much better results.
LZW is totally useless when working on 16bits files, worst of all, it increase the file size about 10 to 20%. Why do you go on with a default LZW compression ?
Adding a choice for compression parameters is not a fancy feature, almost every high grade photo software has this.
    Regards,
    Fx

Just to be clear I am talking about Text Warping, not converting the vectors to a pixel(raster) layer of the text.

Pixel and Poly got a reaction from firstdefence in Is there a way to change the canvas color?
If you are in Photo I would just add a fill layer and place it at the bottom of the layers and pick any grey that will work for you. If you are in Designer I would put a rectangle at the bottom of the layers and fill it with a grey as well. You can lock either of these so you don't move or select them. Just turn off those layers before exporting or printing the final files.

    This!
This is an essential and VERY easy to implement feature: just grab whatever feature is wanted from the currently selected item and traverse the tree. Done.

While we are at it: Another hard to miss feature: Select a bunch of objects, click one of them to designate as the reference object, then do whatever alignment on them.
And no, to use a dropdown menu to select first/last is just not cutting it. Again, rather easy to implement.
Before adding more complex features, Serif should rather focus on usability. Because without the latter, the former don't matter.

Pixel and Poly got a reaction from Wosven in Add HEX input for all color sliders
It would be great if we can get the HEX input/listing on all of the color sliders. I know it shows up on the RGB Hex setting but if I'm working in one of the other slider color spaces I need to constantly switch back to the RGB Hex to read a HEX value. It would be a great time saver. We could also have an option to have it appear or not appear on each of the color sliders in case there are people who do not need it to be shown.

    Cheers!

Just another vote for the option to lock guides. These small important features are the difference between a production ready application and a casual fun application.

In a marketplace where you're up against "The Goliath" Adobe Illustrator I would've thought this would be great for boosting user acquisition. If people are looking to support the "David", AKA the more innovative, nimble guy AKA AD it should be made as easy as possible to transfer that existing work, right?

This seemingly minor feature is high impact enough that it makes me hesitant to drop Illustrator (despite having bought AD and enjoying many other great features). Please, please, please bump this up the priorities.

I have been using Designer and Photo now for a few months and like the programs very much. I was a user of Illustrator and Photoshop for many years but my old (CS5) versions were becoming incompatible with Mac OS updates and I am not going to be held hostage by their subscription fees. As you say, you are a small group of developers, so I’m not going to hammer the point of missing features - you are doing a great job and I never expected “clones” of Adobe. I have been using Inkscape for some things (transforming between objects and colors for example - “interpolate” in Inkscape and saving as .eps or .svg for parts of projects, then importing into Designer) and it has been working well. However, to throw in my two cents worth, THE most frustrating omission and one that can waste hours on a project is the inability to select by some attribute (fill/stroke color/weight etc.) Just saying…

I totally agree! (very funny about the parents too!)

I really hope that on one of the next major updates we can see some production oriented changes that focus on the less flashy features and address many of the features that are used by designers in a production environment every day. I know the flashy features may sell the product but the 'boring' features that are missing are the ones that keep people using a product for production on jobs.

I totally agree. Many times in a studio environment you are dealing with many different types of files from clients and other artist that may need adjusting.
These features are the difference between a very simple task and a very tedious one. Time = money in many of these cases.
