  1. Hey @chris.bannu, @Mark Ingram check this: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/49513-cpu-load/&do=findComment&comment=297751
  2. +1 for having the ability to quickly rename an artboard or layer with a shortcut key. I always hit cmd+r to rename the active artboard (used in Sketch), just to realise it has a different action in AD
  3. Maybe all these replies should convince you @serif that we need a permanent version of the reset-bounding-box feature The temporary one just doesn't cut it for most of the users. Thanks.
  4. Max N you can find more info here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/3237-white-borders-after-pdf-export-on-top-and-right-edge/ P.s. Serif, I think it's obvious now that you need to fix this...
  5. Okay, it was a false assumption that holding Alt/Option enables "Force Pixel Alignment", now I understand you were suggesting the opposite, to keep it always enabled and hold Alt/Option when I don't need that. Got that, thanks, however in most of the cases I won't need this, so I'm going to keep it disabled and enable it while dealing with Artboards. Thanks again. I made some experimenting and here are the results: Step 1. I created a document with A4 preset size (210mm / 297mm - no artboard) Step 2. Filled the background with a shape bigger than the document size Step 3. Exported the file from File Menu (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S), in JPG file format Export Resulted with no white edge where the fractional pixel lines were. Step 4. I created an artboard with snapping, so the resulted size is exactly A4 (210mm / 297mm) Step 5. Exported the file from File Menu (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S), in JPG file format a. Whole Document: Resulted with no White Edge. b. Selected Artboard: Resulted with no White Edge. Step 6. Exported the File from Export Persona, in JPG format a. Whole Document: Resulted with no White Edge. b. Artboard Slice: Resulted with a White Edge on Right side. So it's only the Slices that cause this from the Export Persona I think. Although, that's what I use in 95%, when I have dozens of Artworks in a documents on different artboards. They all have these ugly white borders when I export them. Now I know that I need to do some setup, to look at pixel values, coordinates, export settings, but it would be nice, if we wouldn't need to care about all this, and could export the designs from the Export Persona too, without worrying about the white edges. So the software definitely can do that (see other cases), but it needs some adjustments in this "edge case" White Edge 2.afdesign
  6. When I press Alt/Option after I start dragging, disables snapping temporarily. If I change document units to pixels and start the dragging and press and hold Alt/Option, happens the same. If I hold Alt before start dragging, then makes a duplicate as expected. Maybe it's a different key that forces pixel alignment temporarily, but this is not really a problem. I export these images in JPG now, from the export persona. I suppose it does not matter what the output file format is, the artboard cutting happens the same way. When I have a custom document size or one resulted from creating a document with the help of the Print presets, the size won't be a whole pixel size, the other Presets result in a whole pixel size (even the Photo preset). Here's what I mean by colors of Fractional Pixel rows:
  7. Thank you for your response @R C-R, I really appreciate that you're trying to help. Unfortunately the temporary override does not work for me. As far as I know, holding Alt/Option while dragging, makes a duplicate of the object (that's how I duplicate the Artboards too). Holding Alt/Option after starting the dragging action, does not have the desired effect either. I could get comfortable using the "Force Pixel Alignment" while I duplicate my artboards, but I still feel that there are two problems remaining: 1. When I have a document that does not have pixel perfect size (A4, for example, or any other Print/Physical size), it's impossible to place an artboard in a position that does not result in a white edge after exporting. 2. If the software just does what I tell it, I'd like to learn how to tell it, that I need those extra pixels that are converted from fractional pixels to have the color of its neighbors (or - preferably - the color of the original pixel that got divided), but not white. That's not accurate and looks very ugly too The white edge appears even if I put a dark background layer, that's bigger than the artboard. The clipping looks fine in the viewport / editor, but the white edges appear on export. Thanks again!
  8. Thank you for the suggestion, it really works, and saves me the time of the extra step of cropping the white edges after exporting. The problem is having the Force Pixel Alignment option always active is not something I want, forcing pixel alignment in illustration or logo design in most of the cases makes impossible to create the desired shape or arrangement, especially with this nice 1m% zoom feature, when you zoom in, 1px becomes a pretty big space. I understand that, but we're talking about a bug now, it has some workarounds, you can fix it with temporarily changing the settings, but it's still a bug. When we drag Artboards, it would be great if they would move only with whole units then, we don't really want to artistically arrange the Artboards, where even half a pixel counts, but having the white pixel edges is really bothersome if we forget to activate that option. Anyway, having a perfect cut without artifacts, wherever is the Artboard placed is an expected behavior in my opinion Update: Forcing Pixel Alignment does not solve the problem when the document measurements are not Pixels. A have many of my design projects set to A4 artboard sizes, even if the coordinates are whole units, the exported images have the white edges. Mostly because translating the physical A4 size to "computer units" (pixels), the resulted values are not whole numbers. Unfortunately in this case checking Force Pixel Alignment when moving Artboards does not solve the problem.
  9. Hi, while this "solution" probably does the trick, I think this still is just a workaround. We shouldn't have to search in the forums why we have white edges on our exported images I think this needs to be fixed in the software, it needs to be fool-proof. Thanks!
  10. Same here. Please give us the possiblity to export in physical sizes with changeable DPI settings in the export panel too. Or at least convert the values that we put in mm to px. Now if we introduce a value that's not px, ignores it completely. Thanks!
  11. Any news about this? Alternately, it would be a very good solution for many logo designers out there to have a switch in the options to paste text as Artistic Text or a special shortcut key to paste text as Artistic Text.
  12. +1 here. I hope Serif will consider to give UI designers a solution (Affinity > Zeplin / Avocode).
  13. Yeah, what Sullyman asks, would be a great addition. Every workaround seems slow, even the "official method" too.
  14. Any chance to include the feature that @Raskolnikov mentioned? It's essential for presentations. With the current tools the embedded images get rasterized if we do the distortions.
  15. It would be great to have this feature soon :) It's very important for branding work. In most of the cases when I paste a text I would need the artistic type (logo text + tagline).
  16. Any thoughts on merging transparent strokes / shapes into a series of layers? Like "burning" some strokes with the "Erase" layer mode into the design and getting vector output.
  17. I don't want to start arguing, but that would make more sense if most of the users would have both PC's and Macs so a combined price of both licenses would be considered the real retail price. But I believe in most cases users need only the WIN or MAC versions and not both, so Serif does not get a combined amount of the two low-priced products. There is a small percentage of users who use macs and pc's too, and we need to buy two of everything. I already bought two of AD (win + mac), and I just purchased Photo for windows, but the amounts start to add up and I just hoped there would be a more advantageous solution for us with two OS's too. Just my 2 cents.
  18. Yes, @gdenby said it well. Go to stroke panel and on the Join - setting chose the third one (Miter).
  19. Is it planned to sell both versions (win and mac) of your software on your site in the future? (Rather than using the mac app store). It would be great if we would not have to purchase two versions of the same software if we own a mac and a pc.
  20. I answered that JET, I'm coming from Illustrator, it has a "Flatten Transparency" feature, which would be nice in AD, but my workflow was a bit different, when I'm done with a design I expand everything and use "merge" from pathfinder. Mainly because in most of the cases I have to cut out some transparent elements from the design. So again, please check my latest attachments to understand the issue. A good tip from R C-R was to add the elements that are meant to be cut out in "Erase" layer mode, which looks good, but when I try to "burn" that effect into the design the invisible elements become visible, they appear in the export. The preferred outcome would be to get those elements cut out from the vectors. I don't mind if I have to change my workflow, I just want to achieve that, and again, I'm not interested in the amount of layers I have, or to replicate a single specific feature, I just want my transparent lines and shapes to become really transparent in vector output without the need of many many boolean operations. I appreciate your willingness to help. Any recommendations on this?
  21. Hello JET, as far as I know Flatten means making one layer from several layers, regardless if it's raster or vector. I don't confuse the terms, I'd like to "expand" the design first, and "flatten" next. You can see my attachments and previous comments to understand why I want this. (In short, I just want to get transparent strokes cut out of multiple shapes without one hundred of boolean operations). Most of my questions were partially answered, but I still can't seem to find an answer how to get correct vector output when using layers in "Erase" mode. I really don't care how many layers I have, but flattening the layers was how I could burn the visible layers into one previously (in Illustrator). Affinity Designer seems to have a different workflow for preparing a design for delivery and printing. Thanks!
  22. Any news on creating HDR Panoramas? Or what's the preferred workflow for this? Thanks!
  23. Hi affinian, I have the same experience. I just purchased Affinity Photo (Win) this morning - to accompany the vector editing tool (Designer) - and it moves just like yours on my PC. I tried a few of the sample files that you can download when you start the software. On higher resolution documents the viewport updates very slowly with visible randomly updating blocks of the screen. This phenomenon is most evident when you try to move around some layers. Photo was installed on SSD, Windows (10) runs from SSD too, both have enough free space on them. Other specs (i5 4.1Ghz, 16Gb ram, GTX 650ti 2Gb). --- Serif keep up the good work, as affinian said we're supporting you, Photo and Designer are already awesome! We just need some fixes here and there :)
  24. +1 Search would be very useful. Sometimes font names have prefixes and if you don't remember that exactly you won't find it by simply typing the font name.
