  1. It sounds like you updated the release version and are still launching the beta. They are installed separately - one does not replace the other - but the beta will not recognize a newer version of the release version than the beta itself is.
  2. This request is a good idea. It might also be interesting to consider allowing different radius options to be selected for each color channel?
  3. I was just looking at the web page for Coolorus; if you scroll to the bottom I see this: Where I can get Coolorus 1.x? Coolorus v1.3 can be downloaded from HERE, and version for Apple Mac (native color picker app for apps like: Pixelmator, Sketch etc.) from HERE So it looks like there might be an older version of Coolorus itself that can be installed as a native color picker plugin? Haven't actually tried that yet...
  4. If you happen to be on the Mac, you might want to check out Spectrum: http://www.eigenlogik.com/spectrum/mac or ColorSquid: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/colorsquid-color-scheme-designer/id1057705278?mt=12 Not integrated or a plugin, but either can export palettes as .ase files, which the Affinity applications can then import into swatches. The Apple Color Picker (which is available from within the Affinity applications) also supports plugins, and while I can't quite find one for this, there are a few others around that you may still find useful - examples: http://www.chromaticbytes.com/shadesTour.php https://sipapp.io/ https://bjango.com/mac/skalacolor/ In theory, a plugin for the color picker could be developed with the kind of functionality you are interested in and then used within most Mac applications, not limited to just the Affinity products. Good opportunity for a 3rd-party developer...
  5. Make sure the language of the text is set correctly in the Character panel. If the wrong language is selected it might not recognize the words and thus doesn't know where it can safely break them up.
  6. Affinity files and PDF files are considered embedded documents rather than images, they behave differently and do not display those details. This includes Affinity Photo documents as well.
  7. The premise of those suggestions was that the image was not in a frame, so there would be no frame to crop...
  8. I'd like to suggest putting in a feature request to add a popup menu to the built-in Frequency Separation tool to let the user select the type of blur to be used.
  9. Both of these things have come up multiple times in other threads and they are not currently available in Publisher. I would expect cross-references to be added within the next few releases, the book feature possibly a bit further off, but we should get a better handle on that when the road map is published, probably within the next few days now that Publisher is officially released.
  10. You can actually, several different ways: There is a dedicated crop tool on the toolbar. You can create a shape that you want to constrain the image to and either drag the layer of the image (on the Layers panel) underneath the shape to make it a child of the shape, or drag the layer of the shape onto the thumbnail of the layer of the image to make it a mask for the image.
  11. Every time what? You need to do that anyway when you originally place the image, so whether the image gets there by copy/paste or by using the "Place Image" feature or by drag & drop that would be the case... not sure what the limitation is here? It already does, but the layers are within the embedded document so they can't be expanded on the Layers panel. Using the "Edit Document" feature opens the embedded document so you can see inside of it.
  12. Not sure if this is currently planned for the future, but others have also requested it. In any case, it is not there yet, so you didn't miss it.
  13. The "Update ... Style" buttons update the text style to match the selected paragraph, rather than reverting the text to match the style(s) that are assigned to it (at any given time the text can have a paragraph style and possibly an additional character style assigned). To match the selected text to the style(s) assigned to it, you want to reset formatting instead (that is the circled T).
  14. Or customize the development of RAW files being brought in, using the Develop persona in Photo...
  15. Another option which might work (haven't tried it yet) would be to have the embedded document linked and simply edit the original in Photo (or Designer) which could easily be on another display (or tiled). If Publisher is set up to automatically update linked documents when modified externally, then saving the changes in Photo/Designer should be enough to get Publisher to update and show the changes in context?
  16. Yes they were... and you can still access them in the Publisher persona also. You can either customize the main toolbar to add them there (as I did almost right away after installing the official version), or with the two object selected, right-click on one of them to find a "Geometry" submenu within the context menu...
  17. What would probably help (particularly if you have a second screen) is if there were a way to float individual document windows without taking the rest of the interface into separated mode. In this case you could float one of the windows and put it on the second screen (or tile it with the main window if you only have a single screen).
  18. Well, that is what it is intended to be... Other professional applications tend not to have these either - QuarkXPress does not, for example. Wow, this reminds me of Print Shop on the Apple II series... with an ImageWriter II you could print in all of 7 colors using a 4-color ribbon. Now we use printers that can print in full color to both sides of the paper. One fold instead of two. Add crop marks to show where to cut to the desired size, print on card stock, and you can make a much more professional-looking card without the extra fold. Publisher can do all of this if your printer can (except cut and fold it for you). If your printer can't print both sides, you could flip the paper over and send it back through to print the other side. In this case, add bleed to the design... Create a document with a master page, in landscape format, do not use Facing Pages mode (leave that unchecked), create the document with 2 pages. Switch to the master page and set guides at 1/3 and 2/3 of the way from whichever side of the page. Switch back to the normal pages and you now have a blank trifold flyer. On one page, the rightmost section is the front cover, the middle section the back, and the leftmost section is the page that is facing you on the right side when you open the first cover and still have the third part folded in. On the other page, the leftmost section is the flip side of the front page (inside), the middle section is the (initially hidden) flip side of the back cover, and the rightmost section is the (initially hidden) flip side of the folded-in page.
  19. Agreed, this is working just fine for me. It even carries over to the Photo persona, in spite of the fact that you can't do it in Photo itself...
  20. You could always keep the existing adjustment layer as-is and layer another one on top of it.
  21. On the context toolbar, just below the main toolbar... or in the Character studio panel, accessible from the View -> Studio menu if its tab is not already showing in your studio.
  22. I prefer the App Store because it is simpler to keep the majority of my purchases in one place and download them to new computers as the time comes, as well as providing a more consistent interface for updating all the various apps from across different developers. It also eliminates the need to keep track of and enter a product key. The downside is that there is no way to re-download an older version of the app from the store if you want to roll back and don't have a backup copy. Some people have been bitten by that recently. If you purchase the app from the Serif web store they can provide the older versions after the fact.
  23. Image layers in Publisher can be embedded or linked, and they preserve many of the details of the original files. Many people prefer to link their images instead of embedding them, but that is not possible with pixel layers. Image layers also support a "non-destructive" workflow and allow re-developing RAW data in Photo when working with RAW images. Pixel layers are more like the layers in Photoshop or other traditional photo programs. They contain a copy of the raster image data in a format that can be edited. They lose the connection back to the original file.
