    Hey everyone!
I'm sorry, but after having bought the universal license and done some testing, I deleted V2 Designer, Publisher and Photo from my iPad.
Publisher would have been great to work on files due to using Designer and Photo tools via Studio link (I'm not even doing layout stuff!) and I'd have used Designer for its export persona if I don't need editing the file later on or port .svg to V1 (quite limited, but with knife and shape builder in V2 at least somewhat interesting).
In its current state, however, the suite is a massive downgrade from V1 and even with the knife tool, shape builder and the quick menu being great tools that do work wonders on workflow efficiency, it's still much slower and quite risky to work with:
    - No V1 file compatibility
    - Online activation required
as well as the following issues:
    - Only starts up to my files section if there are files already
    - Can't double tap layers to expand and collapse
    - Button lower left has to be disabled each time when opening a file
    - Bars left and right show last icon only by scrolling even though there is room for displaying them (iPad mini 5)
    - Frequent crashes (about 5-7 times per hour) by just using the knife, boolean operations or the shape builder
    - Shape outline sporadically creating blobs at start of vertex loop when shape was created by shape builder
    - Grouping layers (very basic) takes two taps instead of one, yet I got massive UI for sorting layers (probably rarely needed in general; personally, I never need it)
    - Couldn't find vector warp on iPad
I can't remember alpha or beta testing any software that included such a number of huge workflow impairing issues that were regressions from a previous version. And this is a release. Frequent crashes and missing V1 compatibility are the worst ones.
Sad. Not going for a refund, though. Hope it gets better (worthwhile). You did a great job with V1 after all.
Not really going to discuss here any further. For the time being, I'll keep using V1 and be productive.
    Best wishes,
    Shu
    [EDIT:
Two months later, testing again, some issues are solved, others appeared. Current issues:
    - No V1 file compatibility
    - Online activation required
    - Only starts up to my files section if there are files already
    - Button lower left has to be disabled each time when opening a file (changed now, but should probably be a per app setting rather than per document)
    - Bars left and right show last icon only by scrolling even though there is room for displaying them (iPad mini 5)
    - There is a new feature, using a tool by swiping on an icon, yet I need to scroll on the tool bar to get to certain tools. How does that work out? Badly.
    - 3D filter still only shows one light source when adding further ones.
    - It's great that Designer now has Duplicate when touch & holding by accessing the quick menu, but getting rid of the small menu bar completely isn't optimal either, since when you only need copy or paste (or duplicate in Photo), you now have much more screen travel than before on a funcion that's used quite frequently, making it incredibly exhausting. I'd suggest reinstantiating the old menu, including duplicate for Designer and invoking the new one by other means (maybe touch & hold, then swipe up).]

The reason compatibility between V1 and V2 is important is that a file that is created in an old version may need editing from clients. So a graphic designer would have to keep both programs and the downfall is that the old one isn't going to supported. That's a huge issue.
  18. Thanks
shushustorm reacted to Didge in I have Deleted V2 and Gone Back to V1
Well - no it isn't - as you can see from previous posts.
The issue is about the look and the action.
A HOLLOW dot is just a Radio Button - it is not the same as a solid dot because the outer circle provides a point of reference.
There are 2 issues here :-
    1. One is consistency.
99.999% of apps adopt the Mac user interface guidelines - Radio Buttons of whatever form are mutually exclusive - and therefore not suitable for things like enabling/disabling non-mutually-exclusive items such as layers.
    2. The other is usability.
Grey dots on a grey background are ambiguous - being able to tell what is ON or what is OFF depends on the user's ability to discriminate 'shades of grey'.
There is a reason why the term 'shades of grey' has become a synonym for 'unclear'.
So - as far as v2 is concerned :-
    - anything resembling a Radio Button is not appropriate for layers - because layers are not mutually-exclusive
    - solid dots don't work because they are ambiguous.

Backwards compatibility is not about making V1 do V2 things. It's about V1 compatible data being ported from V2 to V1. Of course, that would strip V2 features that are manifested in the file format, which still leaves you with maybe 99% of features being compatible.

That's been a pain already. But they didn't change system requirements during V1 (that I'm aware of). The "only" thing holding you back from updating was fear of bugs (quite plausible, but not quite the dealbreaker as comes with V2).
Sorry for double post, don't know how to cut & paste quotes.

    Hey everyone!
Congratulations on the release of V2!
    - Quite pleased to see V2.
    - Quite pleased to see no subscription.
    - Not so pleased to see no High Sierra support (but understandable to some point).
    - Not so pleased to see no V1 file compatibility (not understandable).
Please include a simple 1.X importer and exporter. You already have that for 1.X. You should (?) be able to integrate it with V2 in a quite straight forward way, unless you went crazy on the most basic systems you have.
I know I can import and export to .psd, but that will leave behind everything that's Affinity. I'd like to only leave everything behind that's Affinity V2 in the process when transferring between V2 and V1.
On some hardware, I still require High Sierra for some stuff. I could update my iPad versions (and get Publisher that doesn't exist as version 1), but without being able to port the files between V1 and V2, that's going to be a headache.
Please be aware that by not including this, you're going to split up your user base. To which degree, of course, I don't know. But it will happen. Some people
    - will still require to or want to work with older OSs you don't support,
    - won't be able to or won't want to invest the money to upgrade the entire suite, especially with the prices increased and the 40% off period being over,
    - won't want to even upgrade one software when this means breaking links between, for example, V2 Photo and V1 Designer as well as V2 Photo and V1 Publisher,
    - are completely satisfied with V1 already and don't see a point in updating to V2,
    - don't like or have trouble using the new UI,
    - just decide updating isn't worth it (yet), because the new features aren't (yet) worth the cost for updating,
    - face bugs in V2 that weren't there in V1.
    User base fragmentation means
    - fewer bug reports, resulting in less reliable software,
    - a number of people having issues with your software, because they need to exchange files with someone from the other group (V1 VS V2) making your software, at best, bothersome to use or, depending on the situation, completely unusable or just not efficient enough to accomplish the required results,
    - people being frustrated, because of going V2 with a trial or buying one of the softwares, saving a bunch of files, and not being able to go back (that's huge!),
    - some users will trust your software less, since a new version created such a messy situation.
I think a simple Exporter and Importer for V1 files could very well be worth the effort.
Now personally, I am going to buy the entire V2 suite anyway, because V1 did serve me quite well (started using Designer before 1.0, it's almost been a decade now) and for a reasonable price as well and I will probably have to update eventually, in a few years. But still. Would be great to go back and forth between V2 on iPad and V1 on desktop.
I searched for "v1" and the search stated there were 0 results.
    Best wishes,
    Shu

    Hi,
I totally love your work, but I just got a new iPad and wanted to install Affinity Photo v1 which i purchesed earlier. I know that you can‘t find the app through the normal search functionallity, so I went to ‚my account‘ —> ‚purchased‘ and was able to find the app. Unfortunately, when I tap on the app the AppStore tells me that a connection is currently not possible.
I doubt that it‘s really a connection problem, because all other apps work normally. I assume it‘s because the app was removed from the App Store.
I got confused and slightly angry, because I purchased the app and now I‘m no longer able to use it. Only because there is a paied updated - which is totally fine when you are not forced to update, but as I understood I have no option now.

Do you have any solution to get my purchased app again?
