Hi eddiemo, Welcome to the forums. RAW files will open in the Develop person, from here you can use the tools to adjust your image, so you end up with an image generally looking how you want it to. Once you have finished you click the Develop button which will process your RAW file and switch you to the Photo persona. At this point if you want to you can use File > Save, this will create a new file in the Affinity Photo format (.afphoto). Your original RAW file is still located where it's saved on your system, just as it was before opening in Photo. Now, if you need to, you can continue to apply further adjustments to your image using the tools in the Photo persona and then use File > Save, this will update the Affinity Photo file you saved previously with the new adjustments. After adjusting you may wish to export your image to a new format for use on the internet, so you use File > Export. This will create a brand new file in the selected format for you to use while keeping your .afphoto file safe. Now I've mentioned saving to an .afphoto file during the process, just so you know, you don't have to. You can go from Developing your image straight to exporting to a new file without saving. This means you still have the original RAW file and only the exported image. We may be adding some more video tutorials soon on workflows, so stay tuned for them.

Hi bgarrant, Have both your documents open in Designer so you can see both tabs. Now click drag down on one of the tabs, it will separate. Repeat this for the other document and you can then position them on screen. To re dock click drag them towards to top and you'll see a blue selection appear, unclick to dock.

Hi darklion84, Welcome to the forums. Currently the Paint Mixer Brush doesn't have an auto clean feature, it has been requested and may be added in the future. To nest an adjustment, filter etc to a single layer (only affects that layer), drag the adjustment over the thumbnail of that layer in the Layers panel. The Imagenomic Portraiture plugin may not work at the moment, however as our plugin support is always under development it may not be long before it does.

Hi Thomas, Affinity Photo has Depth of Field filters from the Filters menu and also as a live filter. It has two different modes to choose from Elliptical and Tilt Shift, elliptical may be the better one to use as you can place the centre on the subjects face but can depend on the image. You may also want to try and adjust the Levels, place a colour overlay which matches the colour in the background.

Burred Brush Stroke
Lee D replied to EvaKrat's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi Evakat, Welcome to the forums. Are you using Basic or Textured brushes for the stroke? As the edges will look blurry on textured once you have increased the stroke size. -

Hi Jamon, Welcome to the forums. The Supported RAW list is separate to the Lensfun library we include, to have a particular camera/lens added you would need to contact Lensfun so they can add it. They do have instructions you can run through to provide them with all the information needed from your camera and lens to speed the process up. When we update Affinity Photo the most recent Lensfun library will be included. To turn off lens correction being automatically applied when opening a RAW file, you need to change the setting to Take no action in the Develop Assistant. The Lens panel will still be available and you can adjust the sliders and create a preset, any presets can only be selected from the Lens panel after an RAW file has been opened.

New User Questions
Lee D replied to billbee1's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi billbee1, Welcome to the forums. Currently a default opening size can't be set, it has been requested and may be added in the future. However once an image is open you can quickly press ⌘1 to view at 100%. -
Hi Kevin, So far I haven't been able to reproduce the issue of losing colours or not being able to add more to the palette. If you can provide me with the steps you take I'll give it another go. If it's something that can be reproduced, it can be passed over to the developers to look into.

Hi Timo, There's no way to apply any adjustments within the Export persona, it's not what it's designed for. Everyone has their own workflow, I'd do all the adjustments first, such as resizing, sharpening etc. then switch to the Export persona. This way you don't have to reopen your image, apply an unsharp mask and export again. If your images are all going to be the same size, try doing a batch job resizing them first, then start your adjusting.

Hi BobbysCorner, Welcome to the forum. I believe this is due to a limit on the size a viewable PDF can be displayed in Adobe Reader, which I think is around 200 Inches. You may want to consider scaling down your design, this will allow it to be previewed and they can then scale it up to the required size.

Hi Shu, The Lighting filter is working as intended, you'll notice more steps showing as it's going from Black to White. More steps are needed between those two colours, switching to 16bit or 32bit will reduce them slightly. If you change the background to a colour you should also notice less steps.

Pantone -> CMYK
Lee D replied to gorschten's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Thanks for the more detailed explanation. I've passed it over to the devs, they may look into changing the way we handle it in the future.
