For what its worth and in defense of your marketing dept, I would say that the nature of Affinity Designer was made obvious from day one.

Looking great so far and await Photo and Publisher !

Mark Ingram got a reaction from cannap in Fix for missing translations in 1.5.0.5
Hi, due to an oversight in the latest installer, we missed some files that are required for translations to work fully. If you would like the translations, I have attached a zip file to this post. All you need to do is extract the contents of the zip file into the installation directory (i.e. find where Designer.exe is, and extract the files in there, preserving the folder structure). Designer will need to be restarted for this to take affect. If you don't need the translations, there is no need to do anything.

When you disable Aero it uses a different graphics driver, not the normal one from Nvidea or AMD. In internal testing we discovered rendering problems and performance issues. If you choose to ignore the warning, that is fine, the app will still run, but you will get a much poorer experience.

Dhohoch7, the Paragraph panel is in the View menu, under the Studio submenu. It's also on the Text menu as Show Paragraph. Do these not work?

    First post and first impressions.

I originally downloaded the beta over a week ago but had no chance to dig in to it so my first comment below only applies to it.

I got my hackles up for a bit when the first notice I got was to make sure all windows updates have been installed.
Those are fighting words to an old time windows user (since 3.1.1). There are certain updates I will not install for windows (Win. 7 Pro) which is why I have had no problems with my machine for the last 3 1/2 years.
Once I settled down I quit the install and went to the requirements and saw the reasons for the note so with that I installed infinity designer with no problems. Easy breezy installation.

    1.5.0.5

I downloaded and installed 1.5.0.5 over the old beta and again fast install. Thank you.

Now a days I am more into PP photos more then the designer aspect so I chose to open a .DNG, PEF, TIFF, JPG files all opened OK

I chose to use the refine edge and an old Mac tutorial I found. Although the tutorial was outdated I was able to manage the job.

Pros: Fast, easy, and almost accurate.
Cons: You changed a button from shrink/grow to Ramp (where did you get that word from?) and to be honest I found it to be unusable. It acts more like a smudge tool.
I had a hard time with 1 or 2 areas and was never able to refine it to my satisfaction and those should have easily been fixed by the program yet it was able to do some really tough areas (go figure).

I think you need to take another look at the "Ramp tool" and consider bringing back the grow/shrink.

Now, The one thing I really do not like is your help system. Not the files themselves but the fact that I cannot minimize the help window.
Example: Lets take the zoom tool. I wanted to learn the different ways of zooming of which you show about a dozen or more not including the keyboard short cuts and was forced to resize the window blocking part of the photo to learn them. Usually for most programs I would open the help file, minimize the window and alt/tab back and forth then close the help window or leave it open until done. In the end I went looking in the preferences and found my favorite way of using the mouse wheel. Thank you.

You have a winner overall and I have one simple question: I wanted to do a business card next, found the tutorial but realized that it is only for a single card.
We use an Avery template 8371 to print 10 cards at a time so how do I make that template for 10 cards at a time. Is there some way to make templates?

Thank you and keep up the good work. If Affinity Photo is as good as Designer I will be rethinking about some of the programs I currently use.

Illustrator CC 2015.3: the fastest, but as we know doesn't render object while moving (turns to outlines)
AD 1.5 Beta: good performance on rendering and editing too. No lags on selecting, tiny bit on moving
    Photoline: no comment... Spinning wheel...

Mark, I've just updated the drivers and the issue is now resolved, I thought they were up to date but apparently not. I'm able to work with the Nvidia drivers at 150% display scaling. Thanks for your help!

I've found the source of the problem, when exploring another issue with truncated dialogs. The problem is that my Windows Display scaling options were set to 150%. As soon as I reverted to 100%, I could run AD on the Nvidia drivers. Only problem is how microscopic everything is now throughout the OS, practically unusable in some cases, which is why I upped the scaling when I first got this laptop, I'd just forgotten I'd done it.

I was able to make a "thanks to our sponsors" banner with it shortly after using it, importing or opening vector logos from Brands Of The World, take some apart to remove out date parts. see the difference between pasting a shape in and place an image, arrange and align some objects easily enough and make a usable finished design with only one look at help to see how to reopen the big control panels on the right.

    Nice work.

I would expect to see some delay with this document as it has lots of raster effects on that object, Affinity doesn't cheat like DrawPlus as Affinity draws real z-order correct objects all the time with live blend modes. The tool should stay very fluid but the renderer should try and keep up the best it can. This strategy enable you to create very detail designs and edit them live without the objects popoing to the top and non-real editing like DrawPlus.

This is by design. The same behaviour happens with text frames. We always output at least one character on each line, no matter how narrow the measure is. If you want the first line to be blank, start it with a Return.
