Reaching a professional audience is truly up hill for Serif when the official forum is littered with fanboys and apologist answers like this.

    Hello,
Could you improve the Guide manager window so that it is possible to dock it as a tab beside other tools? Currently it is a floating window only. I'd like to be able to quickly and precisely change the position of the guides by typing values.
    Warm Regards

Could you in a future make an iPhone / iPad preview App, that would enable the designer to preview selected art-board on the actual device?

tomn reacted to ggt667 in How can I print all artboards in one document by the push of the print button once?
For better or worse this approach lacks the naming of each artboard item; I would really like to see the artboard item name in the gutter of the image, like on the screen.
"Splash screen" may be obvious from appearance alone, however the difference between setup wizard and preferences may look exactly the same sometimes and sometimes have suttle design differences.
For now I use about 2-10 screen shots of each project to communicate between inventor, designer, and programmer, this is not good. What I'd like is to have the same as looking at the screen, yet with each art board page as a separate page when printing with its name in the gutter.

Oval's remarks are valuable. He points out bugs in Affinity Designer and is very detailed about them. Imagine those bugs to be fixed by the Affinity developers and how polished the software would then be. No more need to be cursing at a screen, or use another software. Why I would have to buy Sketch to make the designs if it is enough to buy Affinity Designer and stick with it? Currently the Designer has some UI design features but they are buggy, outdated and the experience of using it is average. Why not to improve on what already exists and conquer the professional customers hearts? Maybe some kind of an issue tracker would be great to have to look at.

Hi, I have an issue with the Artistic Text Tool in 1.6 beta or RC. Version 1.5 is OK.

    - I create the left-aligned text "Lorem" with the X: 15pt.
    - I edit the text (first letter must be different).
    - The X is changed to 16pt, 14,2pt etc.

This is really annoying, because I always have to return the X to 15pt.
    Any chance to fix this?

    Thank you very much!

Unlikely for the 1.6.0 release date, but there will obviously be a 1.6.1 after that, so that will probably be our target...

I see. It might even be due to the previous issue I reported whereas the color picker picks a color on its own without clicking. This time, I just pressed Cmd + Z several times without any mouse clicks (color picker selected), and a new palette was created. So with that issue with the color picker, it must think I am clicking, whereas what you said sounds possible.

Love Affinity Designer but sadly the lack of these iOS assets makes it very difficult for me to use it as my primary design tool. Hopefully Designer will be added to the list ASAP. I would drop Adobe in a heartbeat.

Sorry. That may have not have been a great point to bring up, because I was referring to mobil use in general and not just for graphic design. I would agree that more people use desktops for that. I was practically saying that mobil is a major adaption to networking and regular tasks, which might explain why Affinity released their product for it.

tomn reacted to kehom in [AD] Almost regretting...
So, back in May I installed the trial and commented in this forum that it lacked some features for my work.
I got some interesting replies with some workarounds and then tried them.
I ended purchasing and now I'm almost regretting that.
    Let me explain:
1 - Advanced line patterns (like dash dot dot). While I can easily do this with free vector graphics
applications, I can't with AD. The work around is to create two lines, one with "dash-dot" pattern and another with
"dot" pattern but having to tweak the spacing so when placing them one above the other would give me
the desired pattern. Works but ridiculously not fun to work in this way! If I create an SVG file with
a line using this kind of pattern, then trying to open in AD, it crashes.
By the way, one extra suggestion here is to give one way to "save" some line pattern presets and allow us to select
them through a drop down or something like that. Having to rewrite the values or to "copy-paste-resposition" another
    line is also not fun.
2 - Lack of arrowheads. Someone can say "It's already on the roadmap, meaning, priority". Yes, it
has been there for over 3 years. Seriously?
Yes, OK, the workaround is to draw the actual arrowheads ourselves and try to align correctly within the
curves. I don't think this workaround is fun either.
3 - While still trying to use AD, I came across another problem. Often I have a line (let's call this an
"axis") and a shape that must be mirrored about that axis (rather than just horizontal or vertical). So,
my first try was to just rotate and hope that the shape would snap into the line/axis. Nope, there is
no snapping while rotating. So, I searched to see if there was any method to mirror a shape in this way.
I didn't find any method. My next step was then to think code a plugin/add-on. After some research
I found out that AD does not have any plugin API (or is there? My research skills might be very bad).
After a few months I was completely unable to work with AD to produce what I wanted. The result?
Unfortunately I'm going back to Inkscape.
Now, I could only hope for the necessary features to be added into AD but after seeing that one of those
features was promised and even added to the priority list over 3 years ago and it's still not implemented... very,
    very frustrating!
    Thanks for your attention.

I've been a heavy user of Adobe products during my professional life, and liked their software, except that they bloat them, and the company themselves are assholes. And I notice that you take heavy influence from everything, including the website. Which is fine, as long as you do it better. I love Affinity Photo and have bought Designer and will jump into it soon. Can't wait for a better Lightroom version as well, but I have merely one request:

Stay Non-Adobe. Don't bloat, be good, cool guys. There's a lot of people wanting to move away from Adobe. Make their choice easy.

tomn reacted to Dams in Full UIKit Asset
    Hi,

Some iOS 10 assets are provided by Affinity Designer but they are incomplete, using an outdated Font (SF UI Text instead of SF Pro) and not providing upcoming OSes like iOS 11. Right now, Apple provides all the latest designs here:
    https://developer.apple.com/design/resources/

However, they are providing it for Sketch, Adobe PS or Adobe XD. While Affinity Designer is able to open the PSD files (with some warnings), it is useless for any UI work as it's loading pixel layers instead of vector layers. So in order to compete with existing UI design tools, Affinity Designer should either be able to import PSD documents provided by Apple correctly or provide it's own full and up-to-date UIKit assets.

This is limiting the use of Affinity Designer a lot for mobile designers as recreating all standard widgets is time consuming and making the price of Affinity Designer non competitive (a few hours to create the missing UI elements * hourly rates = a lot more than buying Sketch). I bet that Android designers would want full material assets too.

Please consider making Affinity Designer more competitive for the UI Design market.

    Cheers

PS: another alternative would be to request Apple to add the affinity designer file format to the list provided. Good luck with that. But you won some ADA, so may be they would listen
