Text noise

I have created a new documet in AP and Placed an image into it. Upon creating text, I find that once exported (.jpeg and regardless of export location) there is digital noise surrounding that text. The only work around I have found is to apply one of the Styles to the background in order to hide that noise, which is not convient for what I want to do. I am working at 1200 px x 628 px, Dpi 72. Which are all pretty standard for web exports. Solution(s)?

Try increasing the quality when you export. The "noise" around the text are what's called compression artefacts.

Thanks, I'm already exporting at 'best quality' /100%.

Can you upload the image to somewhere like Dropbox, as the image uploaded to the forum is showing heavy compression.

I don't use Dropbox, I can send it by email. That is the problem, why is it showing heavy compression (if you refer to noise around the text).

Welcome to Affinity Forums
The (exported) JPG file you have uploaded to us doesn't have any compression artefacts. Exporting a new JPG from your afphoto file also does export it correctly (no artefacts). I believe you are uploading the JPG to some website/web service and it display the artefacts there - if so this is probably because the site/webservice is compressing the jpg further to reduce its file size introducing artefacts. Can you confirm this please - are you uploading and checking the file on a website/webservice? Have you tried to open your exported JPG file in Affinity Photo directly and check if there's artefacts there? You probably won't see any.

Thank you MEB, if you look closely around the text, the .jpeg I have uploaded to you (above) is showing artifacts. There are no artifacts showing in my AP fie within the program, which leads me to belive the problem is in the exporting. I am uploading to my group on FB, flowing the file size stipulations lain out by them.

Just my .02 worth, FB will compress your images. FB is a bad place to judge image quality.

That is known, however, as mentioned above, I have uploaded the image here (above) and it is still showing artifacts.

Hi AKAMERA,
Your exported JPG (the one you uploaded to us) has no artefacts. Do this: go to Affinity Photo, File > Open and select that JPG to open the file directly in the program then check the text - you will see there's no artefacts. If you are uploading the JPG to Facebook and checking the quality there then you are seeing a file that was further compressed by Facebook when you uploaded it thus introducing the artefacts you are seeing.

As previously stated, in my AP no artifacts are showing, I have posted the image HERE (above) and they are.

Huummmm, so how do I get an AP created image/banner to display correctly on fb? I am already posting in FB's stipulated format.

Your exported JPG has 354kb. Facebook is compressing it (max allowed size is 100 kb for cover photos).

I've just verfied, I'm not. AP has created a 345.73 kb file, fb stipulates less than 100 kb, how can I reduce my file size in AP without having to redo everything?

You have to reduce the image size to 851px by 315px (that's the size required for the cover photo according to Facebook specs in the link above) and if that's not enough the quality slider in the JPG export dialog. Also click the More button in the Export dialog and untick both Embed ICC Profile (most browsers should assume sRGB anyway) and Embed Metadata. For better results you may want to try specialised image optimisation tools like JPEGmini (Windows, Mac), RIOT (Windows), ImageOptim (Mac) and similars.
