Forum is becoming cluttered

Recommended Posts

You guys are number one on several levels, your products are great, your tutorials are among the best, and you are continuing to expand your product line, keep it up.  However, as you increase your product line, the "desktop forum" is becoming cluttered.  For example, when I have a question, I am forced to wade through inquiries regarding Publisher, Designer, and Photo (thank you for separating iPad and Beta).  I realize that Serif has intentionally created products that are are inter-related and have much in common, however from a user ease of use prospective, I think that the time has come to have a separate forum for each product line.

I agree 100% with this. I was an administrator to help a forum for over a decade. Keeping it easy to navigate is critical. Right now, Serif is like putting car makes into the same forum because they all have tires, wheels, and an engine. I only have Photo, not Designer or Publisher, so having to wade through all those that are not applicable to my needs is time consuming. This is especially true when there's no requirement to at least tag if not define the program your question refers to in the title. To make it worse, many people do not even identify what product in their post, so we're left guessing which one they're referring to.

Affinity Photo 2.5..; Affinity Designer 2.5..; Affinity Publisher 2.5..; Affinity2 Beta versions. Affinity Photo,Designer 1.10.6.1605 Win10 Home Version:21H2, Build: 19044.1766: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3301 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s);32GB Ram, Nvidia GTX 3070, 3-Internal HDD (1 Crucial MX5000 1TB, 1-Crucial MX5000 500GB, 1-WD 1 TB), 4 External HDD

I support this motion … I have all three apps and if I have a problem with one of them I would like to go into its dedicated forum and search for a solution there. Having all 3 apps represented in just one forum makes it a lot more difficult to find the right thread that could answer my question.

Wonderful, other people want to see it split-up too.  Has anybody seen a response from Serif that indicates that they are going to make it happen or is it only on our wish list?

Serif have been quiet on this. Possibly because this part of the forum is not as regularly monitored by Serif staff.

I have commented in the posting mentioned by @summersara, but I think you have a good point in naming your thread. This forum is becoming cluttered!

Plus 1 for splitting up the forum into product lines; it makes sense.

Mac Pro (Mid 2010) 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon - 16GB RAM - ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB - Asus ProArt  24" 1920 x 1200

iMac 2017 Quad-Core Intel 2.4GHz Cor i5 - 21.5'' Retina 4K - 8Gb RAM - 1TB Fusion drive - Radion Pro 560 4GB - Ventura 13.0.1

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series 7559 - i7 6700HQ - 16Mb RAM - 128Gb SSD 1Tb HD - Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 960M 4Gb GDDR5 RAM - 4K

Asus N56V i7 3630QM 2.40GHz; 8Mb RAM; 1Tb HD; 64 bit. Nvidia GT 650M 2Gb: 1920 x 1080 - 2nd Monitor: Asus ProArt  24": 1920 x 1200

John, In response to your comment that perhaps Serif doesn't regularly monitor the forum, I would have hoped that a moderator would listen and provide feed back to Serif.

Well, since that does not seem to be happening, does anybody have a suggestion for a way to get Serif to respond?

Serif reacted in this thread about splitting up the forum

Here to say the same thing, Serif reacted, that’s why I posted the link, read the full thread, @Patrick Connor has also mentioned about splitting the ‘Share your work forum’ which doesn’t get anywhere near as much traffic as this forum does for questions.
