Del's FREE 'Byzantium' Brushes of Gold for Affinity Photo

Hi,

Well, I am pleased to announce the arrival of my...

'Byzantium' Brushes of Gold for Affinity Photo

Have fun with them...

I'd LOVE to see what you create with them... 🙂  a

And I'd love to hear what you think of them too...

The brushes have taken an absolute age to create...

All my brushes - the 'Nature' brushes and the 'Byzantium' Gold brushes for Affinity Photo - are free for all Affinity Photo users. The image below has been created in Affinity Photo using many of the brushes in the 'Byzantium' collection - to show you what I personally use this fabulous design program (Affinity Photo) for.

I LOVE IT!

Thank you Serif for making Affinity suite of design programs (Photo, Designer and Publisher) so affordable - and for not being greedy and forcing us to RENT your software (like Adobe). Your users respect that and will stay loyal to you...

Thanks, StuartRc,

Glad you like them. Would love to see what you do with them. I like the tiles too. I've used Tile brushes that I created in Corel Painter for years. I just decided that I would create the brushes in Affinity Photo because I find them really useful, and adding a bevel to them makes them really 'pop'...

A huge and superb collection of brushes, @DelN. That must have involved a ton of work! Thank you for sharing.

For what little it’s worth, it looks as though someone has downloaded two copies of set 03 and no copies of set 04, instead of one of each.

Hi Sitaara,

Ha-ha! Glad you saw the cat. Had a bit of fun with that cat; he looked like he'd been up all night... 😀 He appears in one or two of the gold brushes, which I think is funny...

Looking forward to hearing what you think of the gold 'Byzantium' brushes.

I've gone back to using my 'Nature' brushes for the next couple of pieces. I wanted to do a rough sea scene, but wasn't sure how to approach it. But I think it looks OK. Its finding the images, then removing the backgrounds and compositing them in a way that I'm happy with...

If someone did download two copies of set 03 and no copies of set 04, as you say, maybe they were in a rush to load them into Affinity Photo and get their hands on all the gold. He-he!

The gap seems to be widening, Del! The totals now stand at 26 for each of the first three sets, but only 23 for the fourth.

Re-hi Del

Yes, I found the cat in a gold bead... although I'm not quite sure whether it's a cat or perhaps Batman.

These brushes are really great! I played around a bit, without really working very precisely. I filled a cut-out body with gold beads, decorated a bride and her dress, and enriched the fish with gold bubbles.
And finally a self-portrait at the sight of all this richness.
I also filled the text with gemstones.

What an amazing job you've done adapting these brushes for Affinity! Thank you.

It's a plot, Alfred. A dark and nefarious plot, like something from the mind of H. P. Lovecraft...

A sinister stranger from a parallel world has infiltrated our own world (and the Affinity Forum) solely to bewilder and confuse us.

Fear not! The Affinity Photo users in the Forum will fight him on the page in Affinity Photo. Quickly, we'll paint in some mist and fog and terrify him with mountains that rise up before him, trees from my 'Nature' brushes to create a deep, dark forest in which he'll get lost as he climbs higher and higher, stumbling over rocks created from my Rock brushes. We can paint in some mist and fog. Then we'll use our secret weapon - brushes of 'Byzantium' gold to create our weapons, our daggers, swords and spears, our shields. And all the Affinity users online will gather in 300dpi, and with brushes of gold we will dazzle and sparkle so brightly that he'll lose his footing on the mountain path, and stepping back, he'll fall to his death...

Affinity Photo users prevail,  triumphant in their victory. We have foiled the plot by the sinister stranger from a parallel world to baffle and confuse us, and henceforth set 03 and 04 of my free 'Byzantium' brushes of gold will be downloaded simultaneously...

😀

Thank you so much for sharing with me what's possible using the 'Byzantium' gold brushes. I love it!

I particularly like the be-jewelled text you created, and the jewels along the bride's dress, and Emperor Cat's imperial crown, but my favourite are the jewels on his toes. Ha-ha! Wonderful! Just wonderful! I think there's a children's book there, Sitaara...

And I'm intrigued by Alfred's analysis of the 'Byzantium' gold brushes downloads. I love it when things get surreal...

Great work, Ashcat. I'm glad you're having fun with them. It's so good to see your work. More please... 😀

Have you found the brushes with the gold Cat yet? 🙂

DelN

Gold cat? I downloaded 4 different series of your gold brushes. Is the cat in one of those? If so, which one and if not, where can I find it?

Ahhhh, found it. I have to “tip” with the brush and get the cat. I used to draw a line with the brush tools. So I will look closer at al your brushes…..

He-he!

You can duplicate the brush which has the cat face in it, delete all the other brush images and sub-brushes, then you have a gold Cat Face only brush. 🙂

And all the while you are doing that, you are learning so much about the Affiniy Photo brushes (like me)...

I have all my brushes categorized in maps such as nature, bubbles, graffity, chains, animals, flowers and more. Your brushes are in the map Gold. I’ve learned to sort them at my time with Photoshop, way back in the ‘90th. I downloaded the brushes from Brusheezy. When Photoshop CS3 was not what I wanted anymore I switched to Affinity. And yes, I’m still learning from all of you guys! 🤭💋

Just to avoid confusion on the part of the reader, in this context the term usually used in English is ‘folder’, not ‘map’.
