Whatever you did with that latest beta version for Photo, please keep it in. In the past I faced performance issues in Photo and the other apps whenever I had big documents with many layers and effects. Today I tried the latest photo beta and the performance seems to be better now. It's still somewhat laggy, but way better than before. If you could improve it even more, I'd be happy. These documents I'm working atm at aren't actually even that wild, just about 150-300MB with around 100 layers. From my experience, the Affinity apps all seem to struggle quickly with big files. In comparison, Photoshop can handle way bigger files with up to several GB's very well and I wouldn't face any lag. So, I hope to see more improvement in performance with the next update, 'cos nothing's more frustrating than working in stop motion. :|

Thanks. Yeah, that's the workaround I mentioned. Not the real deal, but better than nothing. To be honest tho, I'm tired of workarounds and I wouldn't speculate that optimisticly on 2.5.7.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it another chance. It's mysterious tho why right-click actions wouldn't work the same way.

Mouse shortcuts for UNDO + REDO
HappyDoom replied to HappyDoom's topic in Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Funny that you mentioned the MX Master 3S. Coincidently I'll be hunting for exact that mouse on the upcoming Black Friday. ; ) Right now I'm using one from Sharkoon, also with many programmable buttons, but undo/redo isn't included in the software and the makro function seems broken. That's why I hoped I could set it somehow in the Affinity apps. But no big deal, in a couple days that problem will be solved with the new mouse. Thanks for the tip and the video tho! Looking forward for that little plastic rodent. Btw., too bad the 3S doesn't come with the same sweet black & brass color like the original MX Master, but you can't have it all. 🤷♂️ -

Is there a way to set undo and redo as shortcuts for mouse buttons in general? I tried it with my mouse in the settings, but no clicked button would appear in the fields.

There is the text frame panel with pretty much all you need, it's just lacking the final step for creating editable styles and that's disappointing. I already had to work on multi page projects and the manual way for changing all text frames in hindsight was quite frustrating. My first thought for a workaround was trying it with symbols in the Designer persona, but of course that wouldn't work. Publisher wants to be "big" and gets sold as a professional DTP app. It offers already paragraph and character styles. To me it's an odd choice then to pass on object styles. When you want to work professional with Publisher and for example you're creating a magazine/book/catalogue with many pages and text frames in certain styles, how would one change them all at once with Publisher? I find that pretty fundamental in order to be professional. Anyone coming from InDesign, trying to say goodbye to Adobe, will be quite surprised. I usually enjoy Publisher way over InDesign (StudioLink!), it's just that one missing feature for me though.

Designer 2.4 vector brush lag on RTX4090
HappyDoom replied to AndreRduce's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
Thanks Return for jumping in. I already deactivated my Ryzen's intigrated graphics, so I'm running on my NVidia solely all the time. I also tried it with and without HW in all apps, no change. The vector brush size also makes no difference, there's always lag. Good idea with the benchmarks tho, here are mine for Photo. -
Designer 2.4 vector brush lag on RTX4090

Thanks for checking and it really is confusing. In my case it looks like after every reboot the optimised settings for Photo are undone, so I'd have to click optimise again. And the non evaluation problem for Designer remains. I'm wondering why this problem with lag in brushes and almost no use of GPU power wouldn't appear more often in this forum. Maybe it's really limited to the 40's series from NVidia in combination with Windows 11, while most users here might be posh mac users, who knows? ; ) I don't know what else to check or do, I just hope for relief in 2.6.. -
Mostly I'm using the linked version, never the pixel layer version. I know, a pixel layer of course would kill a retouch of your own adjustments afterwards. What I meant was the preview of your changes, the split view. As long you're adjusting things for the first time, you can just click the split view to see what's happening before and after. Once you've developed though, jumping to the photo persona and then back to develop, the split view wouldn't work anymore. As I said, you'd then have to uncheck each of your adjustments in order to see the original RAW. It's just a minor bug or simply got ignored. Would just be nice to have it working at any time, at least embedded or linked.
