Curve origin moves to random location (split)

Recommended Posts

Help! I am facing some issues which I think could be related to this new feature. I am using pen tool to create a line. I usually set the origin point to specific points on the line to do transformations. In the new version the moment I transform the line the origin point seems to move to a completely random point...

Which Affinity application and OS are you using? We cannot tell (and it may be relevant) because you didn't record the entire application window.

I found a workaround for this issue. If you create a line not using a Pen Tool, but first create a rectangle with the Rectangle Tool, then convert it to a curve and delete 2 extra points, then everything works like a charm and the origin point does not jump.

I've reproduced this here

I cannot recreate on windows

The key step to reproduce the bug is to deselect the duplicated curve first, after it's been modified.
Also, it seems to affect only straight open curves. As soon as the line has been curved, the origin appears at the correct location; but straighten it again, and the origin will also be off again.

Something else that happens is the alignment handles appear to distort, I've never noticed them doing this before, it's like they become isometric.

Thanks! At the moment I have just reverted back to the older version 🙂 But your workaround is also great and probably shows that the bug has to do with how lines are handled in the new feature. Hope this gets fixed soon 🙂

Hi @randomvectorstudio,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
I've reproduced this here and I'm investigating the issue.
Where did you bought the app originally? Affinity Store or Apple/Microsoft Store (depending on your OS)? (to let you know if you can revert back to a previous version).

Thanks again for the reply (just catching up). I did buy the app using Affinity Store and was able to revert back to the old version 🙂 Thanks for your support.
