Problem with selecting objects near texts

Something like this happens all the time:

Attached example:
I click on the yellow rectangle to select it
but the text is being selected instead
(does not matter if it's artistic text or text frame)
event though I am clicking outside of its bounding box

Sometimes it is impossible to select objects that are close to text because always the text object is being selected instead...

You are going to need to upload an example Designer document, so we can see what could be causing the issue

Hi, I created an example: it is very difficult to select objects behind texts even though they are bigger then the text..
While trying to select objects like this I keep on entering in the text edit mode - which is quite annoying.

Maybe they are in different groups ? Can you show your layers panel?

Try selecting both then shift-select text to select rectangle.

Hi @Paul Mudditt, no this does not seem to be the matter,
but I attach a screenshot from the sample document I attached above.

This thread shows that it's a "hit area" bug which needs to be fixed

This is still a known issue logged with our developers it should hopefully be fixed soon. I'll update this thread once I get any more info.

What is disturbing is that this error has been going on since November 2022 and only applies to version 2.

Version 1 worked fine.
It is impossible to work normally with this error.

I was hoping this would be fixed in the latest Beta version.

Hi Guys ! This issue is still here and it is really not easy to work with that! Could please consider that bloc text can be selected ONLY when cliking on the bloc text and not on the line height of the text ? This would be really great !

This is still logged with our developers to be fixed it hopefully shouldn't be too much longer now.

The issue "Layer order affects object selection" (REF: AFP-5621) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.2.0.1900".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.

@serifinfo Still having this problem on 2.5.3 is there something I can do to fix the selection issue? -- e: I think I jumped the gun, by changing auto-select to objects and back to default, selection seems to work as expected. Most likely user error.
