Happy new year!

Since I finished Soviet Cities series, I started another series. Inspiration form some pictures I took in 2021.

It's all 4k resolutions, 4096*2160, enough to be wallpapers.

01 Road.jpg

01 The Road

This road is where I used to going to work every day. Under the sunshine, it looks peaceful and clean.

02 The Bike.jpg

02 The Yellow Bike

A yellow bicycle parked on the side of the road. Chengdu seldom has sunny days, so it's a good time for taking pictures. The light is excellent. Light is essential in photographs and drawings. Shadow makes them vivid. There are a lot of leaves on the ground.

03 Gezhi Building.jpg

03 Gezhi Building

This is the building where I used to work at. To better express the volume and perspective of the building, I used a wide-angle shot. A strong sense of perspective makes the illustrations more realistic. Also, it increases the workload.

Could you possibly say a little about the pictures please?

For example, if a greetings card were being made with a picture on the front, what short descriptive text would be on the back of the card about the picture?

That's a good suggestion. Even a short description might help viewers to understand my illustration. I will try that.

05 The Shadows

The railing of the overpass is fence-like. Fence-like shadows highlight contrast between light and shadow.

That one isn’t displaying for me. :(

It does for me, at least on my iPad. Haven't checked on Windows.

There is a detail within the image, like a chess board yet not a chess board.

What is that please?

Interestingly, to me that picture seems to have an optical illusion look to it.

It seems to me that the grey part is about 20 feet below the orange part.

Yet it appears not to be as the shadows of the railings are continuous.

There are lots of grey parts! Just to be clear, William, do you mean the road (with the white and yellow markings)?

No, the part at the right with the quasi-chess board on it.

I have only really noticed the road at the left after reading your question.

I cannot understand what are those orangey lines over the area at the very left.

Thank you. For what little it’s worth, I don’t see the “20 feet below” effect that you describe. (I don’t see any feet at all, either on the overpass or below it, but that’s another matter!)

08 The Ferns

There are a lot of ferns on the side of the road. Before dusk, the sunlight added a golden color to the ferns.

09 Taken with Sony

I usually use my Sony camera or Sony cellphone to take pictures. My Sony camera has higher sensitivity than my cellphone, it can record in darker environments.

14 Memory Cards and Hard Disk

Here are some of my SD cards and portable hard disks. SD cards have variable colors, so I'd like to buy different SD cards. I don't have so many devices that need sd cards. Some of them are just for collections.
