Pelican Grace Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 Hi Stuart! Your work in amazing! I'm glad I've come across it and I really appreciate your generosity of allowing us to have your talents right in our hands! I am a children's book writer and just a beginner in my illustration work. I cannot wait to use your elements in my illustrations for the future. I am going to have to sit for a few days and play with each of the downloads and see what comes in these treasure chests of yours that you've so generously layed out for us to find! With all your textures, elements and assets you've offered, I will have so many great gifts to bring my own illustrations alive. I can see the depth and shadowing already! You are such a wonderful person, with a very giving heart. I appreciate that and your generosity, and while my posts are a bit later than your original, I hope you have found a place to earn from your talent. If there is a website you've opened with your work, I would love to be able to go there and give back to you where I can. Thank you again. You are so talented, inspiring and generous. MmmMaarten Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Love those silhouettes in the dark and the bright yellow accents in the front. That really works nicely! StuartRc 1 Quote

That really works nicely! Thanks! I was trying to sort out the distance | fade issue in the image. and experiment with how plants | trees grow and reshape over time. The original idea was to create a sequential tier panel to demostrate what happens to this plant if you trigger the 'hairs' sticking out on the ground...weird I know!😀 but still.....sort of an exploding sequence! I agree with you about the colour it was a bit of an accident..I used the colour as a base (So I could see the shape I was creating with the Pen Tool) This is the first all vector drawing for Untamed... DelN Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Wow! StuartRc... Superlative illustrative artwork (again!). You just get better and better... Yes, very much like Rodney Matthews' artwork. Check out his book cover designs. But also like the Yes album cover 'Close to the Edge' by Roger Dean. Iconic! I remember this album coming out in 1972 (same year as Bowie's beautiful 'Ziggy Stardust' album). Other book cover illustrators to check out: Boris Vallejo, Frank Frazetta, Patrick Woodroffe. I loved Patrick Woodroffe's fantastical 'Mythopoeikon'. The artwork on the cover the elephant/snail image (and inside) was exquisite. I used to buy Sci-Fi books that he did the artwork for purely for the cover artwork alone... You should submit some of your illustrations to book publishers. Check out the Writers' and Artists' Yearbook. The publishing world desperately need new talented artists. The book covers that have been coming out of the last 10 years - especially Pengiun books - have been dull and uninspiring. Book cover artwork should stand out amongst the other drab book covers and attract the attention of customers perusing the aisles and want them to buy the book for the cover artwork alone. I should know. 😄 I would love to see your artwork on book covers in Foyles and Waterstones. DelN StuartRc 1 Quote

DelN Hi @DelN Sorry! meant to reply in greater depth earlier but needed to assemble a small list (limited as there are a few more I get inspiration from!) first for you to feast your eyes upon. The suggested artwork is an impressive list. I think Mobius | Giger | have also been mentioned before.! There are however is so much modern talent out there that hardly get a mention... Only need to look on Artstation to see this. I was going to add a much more comprehensive list with links to video and web...but then decided it would be just as interesting to list | pick out a few creatives that can inspire you!...They certainly inspire me!😀 Robbie Trevino| Ignacio Bazan Lazcano |John Grello |Ian Mcque | *Christi Du Toit | *Peter Robinson | *Kevin Boudreau | Kerby Rosanes | *Shawn Coss | Zack Feldman | *Martin Lachmair | Isobelle Ouzman | *Siya Oum | Alphonso Dunn | Rick Shaefer | Adam Volker |Alexander Chacon | James Gurney | Nimasprout | *Kiptoe [Matt Dean] | Jess Carp | Peterhanstyle | Doug Lefler | Andrea Muller | Kerby Rosanes *Chris Du Toit directly contributes to Affinity *Some useful videos on necessary brushes and inking * Siya Oum (Comics) *Martin Lachmair (Inking) * Peter Robinson (10HundredArt) and Matt Dean and Kevin Boudreau (Murals, Wall Art and Graffit) * Robbie Trevino (runs a couple of free drawing | techniques on artstation if you have an account! here) *Shawn Coss (Seether Cover artist...but some interesting videos on how to create and apply brushes) [Used the idea to create 'Challenge' brush set..probablt the largest single set I made!] I mentioned Peter Robinson at 10Hundred art as his latest Youtube video (Basketball backboard) discusses a painting technique that I have been trying to get to grips with for the past 6 months....Moving away from clean polished vectors and try to get a better 'painterly' textured vector feel....Tried this with Poison II over the summer and used it comprehensively in Inktober 2024. I think there is a lot more that can be done with this!...Essentially it is a brush painting > Vector conversion process uisng a limited palette (Flat | Dark | light | shades | Highlight)...works but time consuming...and creates a lot of nodes...but I can live with it. AD Copes well!.... Any way check out the names....have fun! There are a lot of others out there...I like to see what Master Inkers are up to on YouTube! Challenge Ink brushes: Trying to get ink brushes to 'intensify' over distance..like a paint build up...required tweaking the dynamics graph! DelN Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Wow! I can see how you would be inspired by Robbie Trevino (first one in the list - see! I am doing my homework 😄). His colour palette(s) remind me very much of your own. And I love 'Drivnod, Carnage Dominus'... And I love the movement in Ignacio Bazan Lazcano's illustrations. His work reminds me of Frank Frazetta and Patrick Woodroffe (mentioned in my post above)... You are right. There are so many good illustrators now. The internet opened the door to loads of really good artists getting their work seen and getting client work because of their talent... It's good to see people with talent getting the recognition they deserve... StuartRc 1 Quote
