I usually use SigmaPlot to create graph.

The graphs of SigmaPlot can be copy-paste to PowerPoint.

But, they could not paste to all Affinity products properly.

The pasted graphs and their labels showed upside-down and flipped.

I would like to use affinity softwares to create published reports, so that I am happy to know the solutions.

Welcome to the forum @beginnerr

Could you not export to a graphic format like PNG or export to a PDF?

Sigmaplot import export options.

Very thank you for the information.

Anyway, I would like to use enhanced MetaFile for export.

Attached files reveal the comparison when I paste the exported emf file to powerpoint and designer.

I think affinity program could not process the emf file properly.

Same issue here. Copy and paste from SigmaPlot to AD ends up with flipped graphs.

Is there any way to fix this issue?

Any chance that you can upload an example file so we can test/reproduce on our side?

Please find attached a Sigmaplot test file containing a simple graphSigmaPlot_test_file.JNB. In the picture, you can appreciate the original graph in Sigmaplot (right side) and the flipped image in AD (simply using Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V).

Different but still weird results can be obtained when graph is exported as Metafile in sigmaplot and then place into AD.

In addition, some issues are present also when copy and paste from GraphPad Prism. Using the provided test fileGraphPad_test_file.pzfx, some graphs (e.g. table 1) are copied with missing text and lines (see 2nd screenshot, upper graph) and some are correct (e.g. table 3 of the included test file, bottom graph in the screenshot)

I hope this will help

Does Sigma Plot offer a PDF export option? Try using that.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Yes in principle, but this procedure is more time consuming and most importantly the graph imported though PDF cannot be edited.

SVG might be worth a a try. Unfortunately Affinity seemingly doesn’t handle pasted EMF data correctly. As this is a Windows only format, not officially support (for import / export), i personally would look for other options to transfer data between apps.

You should be able to edit a PDF.

I am guessing that the problem here is that SigmaPlot uses Cartesian coordinates, 0,0 at the bottom left. Whereas Affinity places 0, 0 at the top left.

So true.

And Affinity‘s reluctance to offer the option to revers y axis to start bottom left is really annoying.

If you can export your graph in an editable format, then you should be able to do a global search and replace for any y-coordinates, replacing them by height-y. You would look for expressions like (x,y) an replace by (x,height-y), using a regular expression.

Thanks for all suggestions. Unfortunately, this workaround is impractical (too time consuming for me, more generally too hard for the average user). Is there any chance to see this bug fixed in the near future? AD would have a huge potential in my working enviroment, but this problem prevents me from switching

It's not acknowledged as a bug yet.

  1. This discussion is taking place in the Questions part of the forum, not the Bugs part of the forum.
  2. It has had no participation from Serif, and in particular there's no bug tag showing that it's been logged.
  3. This is the only topic mentioning Sigmaplot, so it isn't reported elsewhere, either.

From that, I would conclude there's little chance of a change in the near future.

We've had similar issues in the past with Prism when copying and pasting - these are logged with the developers. I will log this issue with SigmaPlot separately with our developers. Thanks for bringing this to our attention 👍

Good afternoon.

Since SigmaPlot (SP) v14.5, there has been a problem with copying-pasting figures, in particular column charts, from SP to MS Word; then, saving that Word file as a .PDF. Scenario: 1) add data to SP; 2) create column chart; 3) copy-paste column chart to MS Word as either SP object or enhanced metafile; 4) save Word file; 5) save word file as .PDF; 6) if using SP v14.5, 15, or now 16, columns disappear leaving error bars and other non-column chart features (see attached). SigmaPlot Tech folks do not seem to know how to fix this, or they are not interested in fixing. Either way, SP v14.0 is the only version I currently know of that does not 'disappear' columns following saving a Word file with copied-pasted SP column chart(s) as a .PDF. Although options exist for exporting SP figures as .PDFs, picture files, and other file types, in contrast to simple copy-paste capabilities these formats are more cumbersome to manage and suffer from other inconveniences.

Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a work-around, other than exporting SP figure as .PDF or other file type, or fix?

Thank you for your time and consideration; have a good day.

Welcome to the Affinity forums, @Dylan Indicott.

Are the Affinity applications involved in your scenario at all? If not, this doesn't really seem relevant here, and should probably be addressed to the SigmaPlot developers or to Microsoft.
