duch_suva
i work in Affinity Photo using a trackpad, and very often I unintentionally rotate my artboard with some gesture is there a way to quickly center it back?
h_d
View - Reset Rotation should do the trick. If you want to turn it off, go to Preferences - Tools - Enable canvas rotation with trackpad and uncheck it. arlene.con
Thank you so much for this info! I was getting super annoyed of having to reset the rotation every 5 minutes.
Erik Bjørn Pedersen
Thanks, h_d. I'm very new to the Affinity suite, having switched from the ridiculously overpriced Adobe suite, and am still learning how to use the Affinity programs efficiently. On several occasions I've had the same unintentional problem as duch_suva and arlene.con (totally unaware of what keystroke combination triggered the misbehaviour) and had been baffled about how to repair things afterwards. Since I'm apparently not the first person to deal with such an annoyance, might it not be a good idea for the Affinity programmers to enter a record of the rotation transform (whether accidental or intended) into the queue of actions that have been performed? That way a user could undo an accidental rotation with a simple command-Z. Kind regards, Erik

FWIW, there is no transform of the document, rotation or otherwise, when rotating with the trackpad because this only rotates the view of the canvas, not the document itself. (That's why Reset Rotation is on the View menu.) The History panel only records actions that cause changes to the document, which is why, like zooming in or out, rotating the view is not recorded there. Similarly, since these actions do not change the document in any way, they are not saved with the document so the next time the document is opened, it reverts to the default unrotated view. Dennison
Accidentally rotated the Artboard this morning - thanks, have turned off in Preferences. What was strange was that after righting the Artboard the drawing was "wonky" - see screenshot. Seems like the drawing rotated and then didn't rotate back, if that makes sense. Make 1000s of drawings. Love the app, thank you.
