Staff SFurniss Posted February 4, 2021 Staff Share Posted February 4, 2021 @ophuzii The software would be yours for as long as you wish to use it and updates will be free until we get to version 2.0. At that point you can choose either to keep using it as is or pay to receive more updates.
ophuzii
@SFurniss that was my point, when it gets to the 2.0 version, that is next year I will have to pay again, that's right?
GarryP
If you want the new features/functionality that come with version 2.0 then you will need to pay again. If you don’t need the new features/functionality in 2.0 then you do not need to pay again and can continue using 1.9.x without any further cost. I don’t think anyone can say when 2.0 will arrive. It’s your choice whether to buy now or wait for an unspecified amount of time.

wonderings
Buy based on what it can do now. Does the Affinity software meet your needs and do what you need it to do? If so then great! If not, can you live without those tools? If not, don't buy

If you buy version 1.9 now, you will have to pay for version 2.0 when it is released. If you were to buy version 1.x from the Affinity Store less than two weeks before version 2.0 is released, you would be able to return it for a full refund and purchase the newer version instead. Point updates (1.7, 1.8, etc) are free, but each major version upgrade (1.x, 2.x, etc) requires a separate purchase. No one knows when version 2.0 will be released. It could be next year, it could be several years from now. We do not know what will follow 1.9. After that the next major release could be 2.0, but it could be 1.10. emmrecs01 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.4.
