  1. Currently, the “shear” function of the Transform Studio within Designer only shears objects along the ‘x’ axis, or horizontally. To shear vertically, the user has to turn the target object 45 degrees (on its side), reorient the control handles, perform “shear” function, turn the object 45 degrees in the opposite direction, and either reorient the handles again, or deselect the object and allow the handles to default to their original rotation. If the resulting vertical shear is not correct, the user has to start over to attempt to correct the shear. A second “shear” control would make the vertical shearing process so much easier. The two controls could be named “Shear X” and “Shear Y”, or “Shear Horz” and “Shear Vert”. It would be something to keep users from going crazy while Affinity continues to steer itself down its chosen roadmap and finally implement the Envelope Vector Warp users have been promised. I honestly would really really really really really prefer the Vector Warp, but Vertical Shear I’d be willing to take now. Soon. Like, during the next update.
  2. Hi, is there any way to keep distance between two or more objects, when I am transforming them? It would be very usable in UI design. Im talking about situation, when i have fixed width container and want to put in it 4 elements with 30px gap between them. Now, when i want to transform that group of 4 elements, they change width, but margin between them will keep that 30px. To be clear - i don't talk about auto distribute feature - i know about it, but it affects gaps width only, not objects themselfs.
  3. Is there a way to transform only selected nodes within a shape? I can select nodes, but I can't figure out how to scale, rotate, or skew them, though I can apply those functions to the entire shape. In Photoshop (for example) I can select any number of nodes within a given shape, then hit Command-T to enter Free Transformation mode. From then on, any transforms will apply only to the nodes I had selected. I've attached an example. I just want to know if this is (yet) possible in AD, as it's something I actually find myself doing quite regularly. (Apologies if I've missed something!)
  4. Just a smidgety little one. Draw a shape. Transform panel, click on another transform point. New point gets bigger, but top left default point stays white. New point doesn't get white. Not the end of the world. Not even Brexit.
  5. A Transform each would be excellent. Similar to AI function, giving options in scale, rotation, skew, etc.
  6. When I use my transform studio the X and Y axis sort of glitch out. Look at the video attached for a better description. Any help would be greatly appreciated FBA47930-A444-471A-BE22-474E0894FF87.MOV
  7. AD need a feature that enables a transformation to be applied to each object in a selection, rather than the operation being performed on selection as if it were grouped. I.e. scaling each of the objects in a selection by 150% without changing their location on the page. This is a hugely useful feature in other drawing programs.
  8. Changing line size in the transform panel causes weird behaviours(disappears completely and can't undo). See attached video. Line Transform Input Bug.mov
  9. Suppper duppper updates.. You gurus are awesome... I've been looking many things, and I found now in Affinity Designer. Specially.. nodes transforms... Point Transform tool.. The Isometric layout,,, are you kidding???? There would definitely be a lot more.. But i'd been looking for these. I will explore all . Thank you Affinity Devs..
  10. Hi, I have AD 1.6.1 on MacOS Mojave 10.14.3, and when I tried looking up Help on transforming (as I need the one thing missing in the default shapes, a parallelogram) I got.. well, nothing. Is this me or is there something broken here? Is this not-help stored locally or does it have to be pulled in from the Net (in which case it isn't)? First I used the pulldown menu, and I drew a blank after selection of the topic that appeared viable to me. Next I re-entered the search term in that window I got and got something which after a mouse click led me to .. .. nothing again. Don't get me wrong, I like the minimalism but it's just a tad unhelpful. I also have AD beta installed which DID give me an answer after some prodding (screenshot added), so I'm guessing that's what I'll have to use for the moment. Bug, feature or me? (BTW, not to worry about the parallelogram, that turned out to be as stupidly easy as I was suspecting - no need for transformations ) Cheers, Binc
  11. Hello there! I am currently trying to resize an existing artboard to an exact value using the transform panel, however I can't get the textframes to scale with the artboard, rather than just changing the frame size. When I use the "scale handle" and "manually" resize the artboard, it works just fine. How would I go about doing it with the transform panel? I have this question also over on stackexchange: https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/120555/affinity-designer-how-do-i-make-textframes-scale-with-the-artboard-if-i-scale-b Also attached you should find a gif demonstrating the issue I am facing.
  12. So I was wondering whether it was possible to flip the entire canvas. I found this post which only says how to flip a layer instead of a canvas… …but what about the entire canvas?
  13. Hi all, Is there a way to reset the transform values of a layer? Cheers, Juan
  14. Hi, In Photoshop I can do Edit > Transform > Scale to enlarge an image on a layer. How do I achieve the same in Affinity Photo? I understand that I can use "Place", but is there a similar way as in PS? Regards & Thanks, David
  15. The ability to copy over an objects transform information like scale, position, rotation etc into another object.
  16. Hi, when I press "Node Tool > Transform mode", all nodes on selected object are locked. Is this OK, or is something wrong?
  17. I would like the ability to transform selections by pulling nodes to lengthen or shorten sides, enlarge or shrink entire selections, and warp selections. I use this functionality in Photoshop constantly. Affinity Photo is becoming a worthy competitor, but this functionality is missing.
  18. I don't even know the right way to talk about this, so it's likely this is possible and I just can't find it. When I open a doc in AfPub, in the lower right corner there's a minitab labeled "Transform" -- this is distinct from the Layer -> Transform menu item; here I can just set the item's control point, X and Y Location (x and y), Width, Height, Rotation, and Skew for the selected item(s). Is there a keyboard shortcut (or way to make one) to alter these or put the focus in one of these boxes? Related, and again I don't know what to call it, but if the current selection is, say, a polygon, there's a bar of configuration options running just above the document. It has, e.g., the name of the shape, the fill, stroke, number of sides, etc. What is that called, and how do I get focus there without using the mouse? Thanks!
  19. First of all, amazing piece of software - I've been using it for 3 days and already ready to give up Illustrator which I have been using since v1. Maybe this was covered in another thread but I couldn't find one: - ability to use Option-Drag to scale or transform object out from center. This is a key feature in most mac drawing programs so not sure why this wasn't included. If there is another way to do this with AD, let me know. Thanks!
  20. Hi guys, I'm having trouble to find a way to fit an image to another's perspective. In photoshop I use the free transform tool. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find something similar here on the iPad. The closest to it is the Shear/Rotation, but that's not flexible enough for my needs. Can anyone please help me? Thank you
  21. Hi @all I think i found a bug in publisher while transforming and duplicating a layer and it looks like the transformation was miscalculated. There are 2 Videos. The first shows how Designer works (that shows what it should be like) and for comparsion the second Video shows the same steps in Publisher with the wrong calculation. it seems that the rotating at the end of the video, where the layers with the transformation are duplicated, will be wrong calculated. The Steps in Designer: Designer.mp4 Same Steps in Publisher. Look at the difference in transforming please. Publisher.mp4 And in the Publisher Video you also can see two issues i reported to you. - Snapping of the rotaion centre to Guidelines doesn´t work (same snapping settings as in designer) - Roation Centre and ohter guides will be hidden if moving guidelines. This is very impractical. Many greetings Uwe
  22. Two problems that, for use of Affinity Designer in technical illustration, I would like to see resolved: 1) What is the best way to scale (resize) an object, say up or down a certain percentage? Do you have to do the math and enter new values in the width/height edit boxes in the Transform studio panel? 2) What is the best way to move an object a certain distance in a certain direction? Again, do you need to do the addition/subtraction and enter the calculated values in the X/Y boxes of the Transform panel? Thanks for assistance!!
  23. Hi, I often need to build a new picture from several others and I did that in photoshop by "transforming" the layers ("cmd t" keyboard shortcut). Isn't there anything like that possible in Affinity Photos for Desktop Mac? I couldn't find it at least.
  24. The ability to grow or shrink a vector by a defined amount of measurement, ex. pixels, inches, etc. At the moment I have found no option that will do this, and the only way to achieve this is to manually transform it into place, which can be a pain if you are trying to expand a stroke and shrink it inside of a vector, or resize a vector by percentage measurements.
