  1. I would love import of basic markdown to be possible. While it might be nice to be able to import all kinds of fancy markdown features which are available in different markdown dialects, it would be lovely to be able to at least import basic markdown so that Headings 1-4 map to heading paragraph styles 1-4 strong and emphasis map to character styles of that name bulleted lists and ordered lists map to respective styles
  2. Hello, I'm having difficulty seeing what is on the artboards while working with vector lines. The thumbnail would be useful if the background of the thumbnail were, in this case, white to match the artboard rather than a gray that is not adjustable. Otherwise please consider adding another slider under Preferences > User Interface. 🙏🏻 A failed alternative: resizing the thumbnails hasn't met my needs, and then its required scrolling up and down further because a larger thumb means a larger list, further supporting another feature request to expand/collapse entire groups/layers in the panel. Thank you, Walt
  3. I'd like to suggest the option to disable align merge sources for the Focus Merge tool. Some modern cameras, such as the Fujifilm X-T4, have in-camera focus bracketing and all my images come out aligned (unless, of course, some outside force moves the camera or subject). I primarily use Helicon Focus and when I have align sources enabled then it, too, takes a very long time. Affinity Photo is taking somewhere between 25-30 minutes for 73 photos. This is rather long considering some stacks are close to 200 images. Helicon Focus was able to stack the same images in about 5 minutes. I understand that Affinity Photo isn't primarily an image stacking application, as is Helicon Focus, but 20-30 minutes is a bit too long and, I feel, the aligning of the photos is partly to blame.
  4. When I print any file I need to keep the print settings embedded in it, so that in future I can print exactly the same image at the same media settings on the same paper at the same size. Photoshop embeds this information within the file, so that whatever device I print from, years hence it will remain the same. This is vital for limited edition prints and for all my client's work when they reorder prints. I cannot go back through files twenty years old and recreate this without the data being embedded. I don't think this would be difficult to achieve and I see that users of Publisher have asked for the same feature. Please may we have it so that I can stop giving money to Adobe for their overpriced, bloated cash-cow.
  5. For me it would be very useful, if Affinity Publishers Preflight would be able to find colours, that are not in the used swatches panel. That could prevent the accidental use of Colours, that are not wanted. I don't know, if I can make my point clear – I'm from Germany and my English is a bit clumsy.
  6. I know I'm not the first person to request this; apparently a couple requests were made back in 2015 and it still hasn't been implemented. In Adobe Illustrator, when you export to SVG, all of the various hidden layers are exported as well, with display="inline" and display="none" being put on visible and invisible layers, respectfully. Part of my HTML5 game is built around showing and hiding various layers of an SVG, using css classes to show different layers at different times. The build pipeline for the game takes Illustrator's odd converting of layer names into pseudo-html-safe strings and reverts them to be used as class names on the elements, and I was happy to redo that bit to function with however Designer outputs its SVG and re-prepare it for use in my project. But Affinity Designer just removes the hidden layers, period. There's no option to NOT have it remove the layers, there's only an option to remove additional layers for some odd reason. I get the reasoning behind wanting to optimize SVG for the web, but that should be an option left for me to decide, not have it dictated to me by the program. I have an SVG optimizer already in my build pipeline, and its tailored to my needs, meaning it doesn't remove the hidden layers I want to keep while still allowing me to remove bloated pixel data that might be left over. Why is turning off this unwanted optimizing not an option in Designer? And more importantly, why is it still not an option after apparently five years of it being requested? And before it's suggested again, no, just unhiding all the layers is not a suitable work around. It's tedious to have to make sure every nook and cranny of a complex SVG is unhidden just so it will export, and couple that with the fact that I have several of these SVGs, and it's just not worth the hassle. Plus, it's nice that the SVGs inherently look correct when viewed outside the game window because their initial hidden/shown properties are kept, while still being able to work correctly. I was recommended the Affinity suite as a cross-platform replacement for Adobe's suite (I'm basically using a decades-old version to avoid the subscription stupidity). But this behavior (coupled with the lack of support for opening AI files natively - though I can understand why for that) is a major deal breaker...
  7. Something like this, where you could export all your artboards. The export would most likely use the artboard title as the filename.
  8. For those of us who are very productivity-focused, keyboard shortcuts are essential. I'd like to request adding support for assigning any menu command to a keyboard shortcut. I've run into this a few times, but the commands that made me want to put in the feature request this time are the compound boolean commands. I'm aware that you can alt+click the buttons, but to assign them a keyboard shortcut would be even better.
  9. Feature request for Affinity Photo: Embed changed linked files until an update by user Situation: If you load a project file, then all missed linked files will be displayed pixelized. This is extremly contra productive. Better: To avoid missed linked files please embed the visible result into the Affinity project file. If there are files missing, you can still inform the user, but please don't destroy the implemented material by pixelizing it. This solution would secure the use of the files by 3rd parties, without having the original assets. You don't need to save the original file or filesize, just the edited result is all an user need. Seeing the result, even if you don't have the linked material is better, than destroying the project by showing pixelized results. This is the way how it works in Adobe Photoshop and a much better solution, than currently in Affinity Photo. Do you know, what I mean?
  10. Select subject is the feature that is really missing from AP.
  11. It would be nice if Affinity Photo gets a Macro Editor. Up to now ist is very uncomfortable to start a new recording of a macro when you want to change only one command line in an macro: Fowling function would be useful: Delete commands, add commands by start a recording at a marked position, move commands, copy and paste commands from other macros. By the way it would be nice to save the history as macro. Regards Erhard
  12. I like to introduce a improved Frequency Separation: I duplicate the Layer 2 times: The bottom one I blurred with the filter Median Blur for example by 10px. With the Filter Apply Image a make the following. I select the top Copy of the layer and load the blurred layer as source, activate formulars: DR=(DR-SR)/2+0.5; DG=(DG-SG)/2+0.5; DB=(DB-SB)/2+0.5; DA=1 to calculate the High frequency Layer. The set the Blend mode to Linear Light to blend it with the blurred layer. The filter Median Blur in comparison with the filter Gaussian Blur, witch is used in the filter Frequency Separation calculate not such halloos at edges in the picture. The High frequency layer is much better to rework with the stamp tool specially near edges, and the luminance was located more on the blurred layer. I recommend following: 1. Add a checkbox to choose Blur Mode in the Frequency Separation dialog. (Gaussian Blur (Standard) and Median Blur (Option). 2. Add Store custom Presets in the Filter Apply Image dialog to store the formulars. I attached a image file with a comparison of the frequency Separation and a picture with the formulars in the Filter Apply Image I used. IMG_Frequenz_sep_Varaints_Detail_2019_09_27_38058.afphoto
  13. I'd like to see Affinity incorporate draw paths into vector drawings (i.e., the sequence of when each line should be drawn). This will be helpful in coupling the use of Affinity with software that creates explainer videos.
  14. Background: I often will create several designs on a single sheet when they have a common theme so I can keep a consistent theme. Once finished I like to save them individually for import into Publisher or whatever I'm working on. It would be nice to be able to have a "Save Selection As..." option to allow for quick export. Current method: Select the elements desired. Copy (CTRL+C). New From Clipboard (CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+N). Then "Save As..." on the new document (CTRL+SHIFT+S) and close it. This creates a correctly sized document that can be pulled with ease into Publisher. I actually use AutoHotKey to do this all with CTRL+F12 but a built in way would be nice. Proposed method: User highlights what they want. Under "File" two new menu options are present. "Save Selection As..." and "Export Selection As..." in case you want to export a SVG. This could possibly be under the "Selection" menu but saving files seems more logical under "File".
  15. Hi! As a feature request, it would be so helpful to be able to break down colour groupings within a single Application Palette or Document Palette. For example, I'd like to group my primary colours on their own at the top, and then create secondary and tertiary groups/rows for tints and shades of the same colours, or secondary colours, etc. Being able to create an organized hierarchy within a palette rather than having a mass grouping of all saved swatches would be immensely helpful! Thanks.
  16. svg width and height in mm instead of "100%". Affinity SVG export has problem in apps that requires absolute dimensions in mm
  17. Does anyone know if there is a way to record your strokes on Affinity Designer for iPad (like what Procreate does). I desperately need this ability for a project. Screen recording isn't working because it records in real time so there's so much extra time recorded and also unwanted notifications etc. I need just the actions recorded without having to spend hours rewatching & editing the video for unwanted footage & dead time. If anyone can share a way to do this on Affinity designer ipad I would be VERY grateful!
  18. Greetings I had a suggestion, the "space before" style should be able to be a negative value. For example, I want my bullet lists closer to the line above them since that line explains what the list is. The thing is the list is being pushed away from that line because of it's spacing. I don't want to change the top line's spacing because it's great for the rest of the document, just the bullet lists could be closer. Is this a possibility or will it open a can of worms? Thanks.
  19. Adobe Photoshop has an option to convert Paragraph Text to Point Text (Artistic Text) and vice versa. https://textuts.com/type-tool-in-photoshop-cs6-point-text-and-paragraph-text/ It is very useful at times. Hope to see this feature soon on Affinity Photo! 😅
  20. It's been well-observed that the Affinity Suite 'doesn't support' the import of PDFs with embedded fonts, and attempting to do so causes a variety of issues. However, Designer imports EPS and PostScript files with embedded fonts perfectly accurately, because it outlines all the embedded font data. It would solve a great many problems if Designer offered the option to outline the embedded font data, as for EPS files, in the PDF import dialog. I'm presuming that this would be a 'relatively easy fix', as Designer can already outline EPS at import, (and it can outline font data in PDFs when exporting).
  21. I'd love to see a separate Artboard tab that can control the position/size of Artboards instead of relying on the Transform tab. Coming from Illustrator, I think its a small quality of life update that could benefit many users.
  22. Hi Affinity team - are additional crop overlays (e.g. phi grid, golden triangle, etc.) anywhere on the roadmap for Photos on iPad and desktop? Would be lovely to ditch Adobe tools altogether but this is literally the one thing I still use Photoshop/Lightroom for. Thanks!!
  23. I am slightly reluctant to move entirely to this software due to the inability to refine the area inpainting draws information from. I suggest adding a GUI for selecting where inpaint will fill from, or perhaps allowing us to fill from a specific layer (so we can make a layer with only the info we want to fill with, though this would be very very janky in my opinion.) I don't enjoy being one of those guys complaining that this app isn't a certain other product, but this is honestly the only thing holding me back from making the switch. I love AFP for literally EVERYTHING else it does better for me. Thank you for considering~
