Hi Everyone I really am having a lot of coordination problems between Designer and Publisher... maybe I have got conceptually the wrong end of the stick but I cannot find any good tuturials on how they interact with one another. In this specific problom I have designed an object in Designer... it is a simple rectangluar sign 100mm x 100mm I just want to copy this into a page in Publisher,, so naturally I copy it in Designer , Paste in the Publisher on a page... To my shock reverything gets resized,, in this case smaller [24 x24mm ] what in hell is going on???? in both cases the document / file units are set as mm and in both files the page size is A3 is is a basic bug... Yes, I could build the design in Publisher using the Designer persona... [In fact, that is the workflow I am persueing , but I have a lot of artwork already in Designer.. Interestingly, when i copy/paste form Publisher to Designer the size is respected, no change happens???? Actually, I expected the Studiolink between Publisher and Designer to be the same as between Publisher and photo,, it definately does not! Frankly, I expected to be able to insert a designer file into publisher [as a link] and have it editable and dynamically updated regardless of which app I worked in... At the moment I cannot even reliably COPY / PASTE between them PS, I don't have a problem with scaling that I can control ,, eg it would be good if I can take a full size design in Designer and insert/link it as a smaller scale object in publisher... but I need to have explicit control of that scaling This is how most CAD drafting packages operate! Hello everybody. I am not sure if this is a bug coming from Affinity Photo or Windows or if it is even a bug bu here is the deal: I know you can alter the hardness and size of the brush by holding CTRL + ALT + right click and if I perform the shortcut everything works as it should. However, if I want to perform the actions with my pen stylus instead nothing happens. I only get this annoying white ring as seen in the attached picture. My pen (Wacom Pro L) is set to perform right click and it works. Only Affinity Photo seems to not get the right click input from the stylus... Can somebody please help me? It slows down my workflow so much it really gets me angry and frustrated. Is there a way to set the shortcut combination to something different? I tried to find it in the settings but the only thing I can find for brush size ist [ or ] and that does not help me. Thank you in advance for your help! I am really looking forward to it. Steps to reproduce: 1. Have a document of a particular size (in my case, I often work with making composite screenshots, so PrintScreen the whole screen, CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+N to create a new document and paste in the clipboard) 2. Copy some pixel data of exactly the same size (PrintScreen something else, so clipboard contains another image exactly the same size as the document) 3. Paste as a new layer Result: The new layer is added, but it is always shifted with X: -15px and Y: -15px. Expected result: As the clipboard is exactly the same size as the document, I'd expect it to be positioned exactly at X: 0 and Y: 0. Even if Affinity Photo was trying to paste to the center of the document or whatever, it should still be aligned perfectly with the first layer, no?

Hi I'm using a Gaomon pd1560 tablet-display. Its pen pressure has worked in previous versions of affinity photo, but when I upgraded to 1.82, it does not work anymore. It was a while ago I upgraded, so I'm not sure what version I was previously on. I have tried restarting my computer & reinstalling affinity photo, but pen pressure still does not work. I tried installing Krita, and confirmed that pen pressure works there. Ive double checked that the brush has pressure dynamics enabled. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix this, or is this a bug in affinity photo itself which I need to wait until it gets solved? Thanks in advance. -
[Affinity Publisher 1.8.4 on MacOS] I'm trying to set up hierarchical ("Based on") text styles for a book I am designing. But the behaviour of the Font settings is preventing it from working correctly. When editing the Font settings of a text style "Based on" another style: Font family defaults to "[No change]" (perfect for hierarchical styles), but Font traits (Italic, etc.) is disabled. (See screenshot attached.) For example, my "Based on" style is in Garamond, and I just want to create a style for Italic. I should be able to simply change the Font traits to "Italic". But the only way to enable the Font traits (so I can choose Italic), is to hard-select Font family: Garamond, then choose Font traits: Italic. Of course that works, but it breaks the cascading hierarchical style. If I later change my "Based on" style to Jenson, the lower-level style remains hard-selected to Garamond. Is this a bug, or is there some good reason for this behaviour? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi, So, just installed Designer update 1.8.4 and have noticed the following: Draw a line with the pen tool then add a new node with the node tool but the 'Break Curve' option in the toolbar is now greyed out. It can only be accessed by deselecting the line then selecting it again. This was NOT the case before the 1.8.4 update. It is an operation I perform pretty much every day and it is really annoying as it breaks my workflow every time. Running Designer on MacBookPro 2019, 16" with MacOS Catalina 10.15.6 Please let me know what is different or fix it please if it is a bug. Dear Developer Team, i can't right click with my stylus button on layer panels n pixels persona mode. because this bug i can't only work with my pentab, and i was force to using mouse. If u read this, I hope u can fix this bug soon. And the Last, I hope the brush size don't automatic reset default size after using other brushes, BECAUSE thats so annoying =__= and waste my time for make illustration project. Dear Affinity Users, I noticed that since recently, whenever I do a boolean subtraction, I am left afterwards with some thin parabolic snippets that stick out from the original shape. Even if I try to do another subtract operation to remove that snippet, it remains unaffected. I thought that this might be a bug, or has it something to do with my settings? Thanks!

Hello, I bought Affinity Designer (Windows version) today and unfortunately I can't install the program. I have already tried all the methods described in the forum (system restart, run as admin etc.), but nothing helps. My Windows 10 (x64) is updated to newest version, NET framework 4.8 installed etc. My system meets all the requirements. I downloaded Installer file few times (in Chrome and Firefox) and problem is same - installer doesn't start. I tried this method the Affinity installer window not showing FAQ but it didn't help. I've never had any Affinity program installed on my laptop before. In my "Temp/AffinitySetup" folder I only have Setup.log files and no SetupUI.log files. My Setup.log file: Please let me know if You need more information. Regards, Bart -
Hello All, I have been using Affinity on mac and now I baught it on windows. The brush panel that should contains default brush, on windows, seems to contains things (that can be selected) but everything is empty. Does someone know knows if this is a bug or if I do something wrong. Thank you

Bug 1: Embedding a document into another one and rotating it doesn't rotate the light sources. Reported this for the previous version already, original report: Bug 2: Aligning to masked object behaves differently from aligning to masked curve I reported this here already: Bug 3: Alignment drop down menu can not be moved to a panel Feature Request: Alignment drop down menu can not be moved to a panel Bug 3: Copying the style of one object to another changes the settings. Steps to reproduce: a) create a rectangle, size doesn't matter b) right click it -> Layer effects -> "Bevel/Emboss" -> slide the radius to "20px", other settings do not matter. -> apply style with "close" c) select the rectangle and press CTRL+C to copy it to clipboard. d) create a 2nd rectangle of different size (make it much bigger to have a more visible effect) e) press CTRL+SHIFT+V to paste the small rectangles style f) check the settings of the new rectangle: right click -> Layer effects -> "Bevel/Emboss". The radius is now something totally different from the original "20px". This bug also happens to other layer effects and the "Scale with object" setting does not have an impact. Fun fact: If the 2nd rectangle is created by copying the 2st rectangle right after step (a), then resizing it and going through the rest of the steps (that means adding some layer effects to the 1st rectangle, selecting it, CTRL+C, selecting the 2nd rectangle, CTRL+SHIFT+V), the layer effects stay in tact! That's super weird to me! Bug 4: Weird rendering artifact for sharp Bevel Applying a sharp bevel/emboss with a 45deg angel light source (that's not too uncommon ... 🙄) causes a weird dark line on the edge. It should not be there, it should all be uniform. Same for the white line on the opposite side. Final notes. Ok, that's the bugs I found so far. Oh and any news on a vector envelope/perpective/distort or scissors tool? I'm just asking for a friend ... Naja, non the less I like seeing you guys working to improve the software. Keep it up.

Hey folks, So i've run into an odd bug/feature that i can't find any answers to. Essentially a grouping of paths with the stroke centered on the path looks as desires, but when i group it the group bounds size to the path and not the visible stroke. I realize a workaround would be to have the outer shape have an inner stroke, but i'm hoping to get a better fix. Below is a before and after grouping picture on the paths in question: Before grouping Before grouping with bounding boxes shown After grouping With bounding box shown You can see that the group bounding box fits to the path and not the stroke and hides the overflowing stroke as a result. Additionally, this only happens when grouping them all together, the corner shapes are grouped and do not show this effect. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, Linc.

Where Publisher v1.8.1, Preferences/Keyboard shortcuts... Dropdowns selected: Publisher and Tools. Description Changed keyboard shortcut for 'Arrow tool'. Then, switched dropdown to 'Designer', noticed that 'Arrow tool' shortcut entry is now double (see attached image). Switched dropdown to 'Photo'... the same. Clicked on 'Serif defaults' and double entry was removed. Added a shortcut to 'Arrow tool' for 'Publisher' again... and again the shortcut entry is doubled for 'Designer' and 'Photo'. Expected Consistent number of 'Arrow tool' shortcut entries. Remedies tried: 'Clear all shortcuts' and 'Serif defaults' - no change. Loading previously saved shortcuts file - no change. Resetting Publisher (CTRL click on 'Open', selecting all of the option for resetting) - no change. Hunches: At first, I entered 'ESC' key as shortcut, by mistake. Publisher did not register any conflict, so I tried it, it did not work. Afterward, I noticed the shortcut doubling mentioned above. I cannot claim it was not there before. My Publisher is purchased from Affinity, Photo & Designer are from MAS.

Using High Sierra 10.13.6 and Publisher 1.8.1 accessing a High Sierra Mac OS X Server (latest updates all applied) sharing via SMB on a gigabit LAN... Two similar problems seem to be emerging. If a Publisher file, hosted on Mac OS X Server is modified and graphics are placed, the links in the publisher file are fragile. As long as the file is open by the same client, then graphics are presented properly. (A) Fragile links…if client A disconnects (unmounts) server and reconnects again, then the file is no longer accurately linked.... link instead of being Volumes://server/path-to-file/graphic.jpg will be now seen as Volumes://server-1/path-to-file/graphic.jpg and thus the graphic is disconnected. It can be manually re-linked, but when dealing with hundreds of graphic files this becomes tedious quickly. another client B accesses the file (i.e. after client A closes file) then the link is not recognized even if the Volumes://server/path-to-file/graphic.jpg is valid and the highly-pixelated preview is shown in place. As per (a) reconnecting the files is possible but tedious after the first 20 or so. (B) Ineffective embedded links If I try to avoid the problem and embed all the links into the file and save it....and confirm that the file is now larger by the amount of files embedded.... if another client opens the file the links are not recognized and the graphics are all presented in place-holder/pixelated format Ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? thanks for any help and suggestions Edit: I'm looking at the resources window to see whether or not the files are embedded or linked and attempting to convert between the different link formats. -
Hello. Can we get saveable workspaces? I use a laptop + external monitor most of the time, but not always. I need a separate panel layout for each of these situations: Laptop: unified panel layout (uncheck "separated mode") Laptop + monitor: Separated mode: Most panels arranged on laptop + context bar and artboard on external monitor. If I could save an instance of each workspace I could easily switch between depending on the situation. Hopefully this is in the works as I think this would be a feature many professionals would utilise. Thanks -
Hey all! Just started trying out both Affinity products on Windows today and I've run into a snag with Designer. It seems that I cannot get my file to export as an SVG properly - the "embedded document" portion does not export. Is there a checkbox or step I'm missing?? I am able to export everything as a PNG if I don't resize on export - if I try to resize then the embedded doc portion again does not show up. I've attached the files I get so you can see what's going on as well as a screenshot of my layers in designer. Could also use a tip on how to set the exact artboard size - haven't figured that out just yet... Thanks! NewInterstate-v1.svg

Bug?: I opened a 18 page pdf (attached) in the latest version of Publisher without saving it. I selected pages 13, 14, and 15, clicked on the duplicate icon and only 14 and 15 duplicated. I tried this with several existing pdf documents and had the same issue. When I immediately saved the new document in native format, and tried duplicating the same pages, it worked correctly. Don't know if this matters to you or not. :-) Suggestion: When you click the icon to add a page you are asked where you want to add it "Before/After" and the page number. I'd like the same feature for duplication. For example, if I select pages 15, 16, and 17, and choose the duplicate icon, it would be nice to get a prompt where I want to add them...:-) Thanks! Hello, I'm not sure if this is a feature or a bug. But the color toggles don't inherit from one file to another. Also eyedropper requires you to open the other file, which results in the color not eyedropping in the correct file. Edit: One workaround is to make a swatch table with the colors you need. Something I never used in Photoshop, but I guess the best option with the current workflow in Affinity. I made a video to demonstrate the bug\ feature. It's a bit of a time killer because if I have 10 files that use the same colors, I need to do alot of eye dropping over and over to get the colors I need. Video Thank you -
Hi, I am not sure if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything about that. Also I have no comparison to Adobe right now - no subscription. Why is the mask in CMYK not really „alpha-masking“ the magenta layer but turning the edges grayish? How can I avoid that? thanks and cheers, Steffen CMYK: RBG:

Usually all my Affinity changes show up in Apple Photos but when I go to make further edits in Affinity all the changes get lost. Is this happening to anyone else? Is this a bug? It almost seems like I should just edit all my photos from the Finder since it doesn't look like the Apple Photo to Affinity Photo "edit in" feature is working. Frustrating. The layers usually get flattened when exiting from Affinity but does that mean I can't go back and keep the look of the edits I just did? That doesn't make sense to me.
