How do you enable Studiolink in Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer? It's only enabled in Affinity Publisher?

this bug makes it impossible to work with the app right now ;-(( steps to reproduce: - open any image - go to layers and add a new layer (appears as first layer) - try to move any layer as soon as you try to move a layer the app crashes ;-(((

I reported an issue previously where the canvas failed to refresh after an action, e.g, adjusting a node in Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo. This seemed to happen after zooming in or out and was corrected only when zooming in/out again. I've since identified my Wacom Pro Pen 2 as the culprit; the issue does not occur with the mouse or with my older Wacom grip pen (even when both pens are using the same Wacom Intuos Pro tablet). I've tried toggling the Hardware Acceleration option (in Settings -> Performance) as some recommend, but to no effect. At this point, I'd be interested if anyone else with the same tablet setup has experienced the same issue to help narrow down the problem source (for the record, I'm on a Dell XPS 8930 with Windows 10).

Currently when resizing a selection, the selection resamples the nearest neighbor outside the selection. The result is that a resized image that has edged that have been feathered or blended into a gradient due to the algorithm used to resample when stretching the image. I'd like to suggest that the move tool gains an option to select the type of sampling algorithm used, with one option be none, to permit the creation of variegated flood filled rectangle based upon selection without the feathering/blending effect or utilizing a different sampling algorithm. This feature would be applicable to Photo or Design where pixel selections can be selected and transformed. The need for this feature goes as far back as early V1 days - I've found numerous reports of this problem with no suitable solution implemented.

The deform filter in Affinity Photo is nice, but in addition to that it would be awesome with a proper Puppet Warp tool similar to the one in Photoshop. In addition I just want to say that I can't state how much I appreciate the great work you are doing with the Affinity Suite. Love it!

During these past two weeks I have been on a project of mine to do environment and matte paintings using in Affinity photo instead of PS. However last week and this week, two files that were safely saved at the end of day just to find next day that they where corrupted and gone cant open them anymore. First file last week thought it was a fluke, yet it happen again yesterday in another file. Latest file, its even more annoying as you can see the file is open, yet the window pops up saying it failed to load, its corrupted and needs to close, then after closing another dialog that reestates the same kind of thing. This happens randomly without notice and it seriously puts the breaks on developing the workflow and proudly publishing work done only in Affinity. Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable) 1. Which Operating System are you using? Edition Windows 11 Home Version 23H2 2. Which version of Affinity did the file last get saved in? Affinity 2.4.2 3. What drive type was the file last saved to? Local SSD one of the files, external SSD the other I would need a dropbox link to upload the file. Hope this gets solved, as last problem I found was not solved, cataloged as a BUG and still to be fixed.

I have been experimenting with the mosaic style of painting, which takes a long time, but the results were interesting. Based on a photo from Pixabay. The painting was produced using DAP 8 and edited and developed in Affinity Photo. I'm not sure what to call it ... maybe La Femme.

Windows 10 Pro x64 Affinity Photo 2.2.0 To be clear at the start, I am not asking for: Instructions on tools, or changes to tools. Instructions on hotkeys, or changes to hotkeys. Instructions on changing cursors, or any new cursors. Instructions on changing macros, or any new macros. Here is a very simple example of what I would like to see happen: Open an image file. Type CTRL-A. The entire image is now selected. (Yes, there are easier ways to see the dimensions of an entire image. But this is the simplest example I could think of.) What are the dimensions of what I have selected? I would like to see this information on my screen, preferably in the Info box. I would not like to have to click additional tools or keyboard combinations in order to see it. I would like it to be displayed in the Info box at all times (if something is selected, of course). Whether the selection has been made with a keyboard shortcut, or a lasso, or a magic wand, or a color-range-select -- none of that should matter. If a region(s) is selected, I would like to see the height and width of what is currently selected displayed in the Info box. I hope I am being clear, but if you have any questions about what I mean, do please ask me. Please be as specific as you can about what I have been unclear about. Thank you. P.S. See also:

Big problem, surely a bug?: Any gradient on any object will render all selection boxes invisible in the entire Affinity suite. It happens 100% of the time, on all files. I can select objects, but there are no visual cues in the Document View window. I've had the problem since I bought Affinity in December last year. It took me a long time to figure out what was happening. I haven't found any solution on Google or in existing forum posts, so I decided to write my first post here. I hope someone can help. Please read my explanation and watch my screen recording. * Recipe: Just add a color gradient to any object, e.g. text or a picture frame. After that, no selection boxes will appear when selecting one or more objects. I can still select objects with my mouse or using the Layers panel (Right Studio). I can see in the Layers panel that one or more objects are selected. And if I use, e.g., the move tool, I can easily move them. But there are no selection/bounding boxes around the selected object(s). This obviously makes it difficult, confusing and frustrating to edit files with many objects and layers. Please note that removing the gradient will make the selection boxes reappear! In short: Any gradient on any object will render all selection boxes invisible in Publisher, Photo and Designer (in both 2.4.2 – the newest version – and 2.3, which I installed back in December). * Screen recording (50 sec) using a new demo file: The demo file has two text frames and one picture frame, all having solid fill color. When I click on and select one or several of them, a selection box appears. So far, so good. As you can see, if I then change the color of one of the objects (the blue text) to a gradient, the selection boxes disappear. As you can see, I can select any of the three objects, but there is no box or outline around any of them. In the last step in the video, I remove the gradient on the blue text and select a solid color instead. Since there are no gradients in the document anymore, the selection boxes are again visible. 1. What Application are you using? Affinity Publisher, Photo and Designer 2. Are you using the latest release version? Yes, 2.4.2 (also happened in 2.3). 3. Can you reproduce it? Yes, 100% of the time on all files using any of the three Affinity programs. 4. Does it happen for a new document? Yes (see demo file and screen recording). Machine, operating system and extras: macOS Monterey (12.7.3) on a 5K iMac (Intel) with 16GB of RAM and plenty of internal storage. No additional hardware, just standard keyboard and mouse. No font managers or display managers. Hardware acceleration? I tried both ON and OFF. The problem persisted. Note: My iMac is working well and I don't have any issues with other programs. I did a fresh install of macOS Monterey in December, just before I bought Affinity. I have very few third-party programs installed: just Affinity plus Firefox, FileZilla and Stellarium (planetarium). Irrelevant background info: I've been following Affinity and cheering for them since 2018. I finally bought the V2 Universal License in December 2023, and I have spent the last few months testing the software and watching a lot of YouTube videos. I've previously used Adobe's software for editing photos, making illustrations, and designing books, but I decided to switch to Affinity. I like many things about Affinity! Sadly, I can't use Publisher for designing books (the text justification is absurdly poor, even with the Norwegian hyphenation dictionary correctly installed and activated). But I really want to make it work for my upcoming wall calendar as well as posters and other "simple" projects. If Affinity is able to show which objects and layers are selected also when using gradients, Photo and Designer will become very useful to me as well. I want to suggest making it possible to keep the original files exif/metadata in ALL slices set. As far as I understood only the very first slice which is automatically set (not really a slice, but just the whole thing called by the projects name) keeps that data since it works with the same engine as the default export function (the one you can use over Data>Export from everywhere, which you can set to delete all exif data if you want). All other manually set slices will always loose their exif data and there is no option to change that! I imagine it to be not that hard to implement it that way that you have the ability to write exif in slices as well (since its only very little data to copy after the file creation), probably even by default. You can always set the options to ditch the exif if you want, just like with the normal export function. Yes, you can currently workaround by cropping multiple times in the normal Photo Persona and its nondestructive as well. But that defies the whole sense behind the existence of the export persona! If I change even the slightest thing in the image I have to redo every crop and pray to the crop gods that it is somewhat cropped the same as before.

I am using the trackpad when working with affinity photo. I would like to assign the left mouse button press to e.g. the key 'z' so i can hold down that key while using the trackpad to move. That means I won't have to apply pressure to the trackpad to draw, but instead hold 'z'. Is this possible?

The problem is quite simple. I am not able to use variable fonts installed on my system. I have attached screenshots showing that my computer properly recognizes the font however, none of the programs, Photo 2, Designer 2, Publisher 2, correctly recognise my font. And yes, this is the case with other variable fonts as well, not just one. Fonts were downloaded from Google Fonts. Running Windows 11 22H2. Downloaded all programs from Microsoft Store. If you need any other info, I'll be happy to provide. P.S: Sucks to not be able to create something on the first day itself. But I guess launching a software has its share of challenges.

Will there be any value of including Variable Fonts accessibility in Affinity products? I have a new MacBook Pro and, as shown in the attached screenshot, I have no option to share an image to Apple Photos. I've thought of checking in the macOS preferences under "Privacy & Security" > "Photos" and Affinity Photo is not listed. I was never asked to grant permissions, though, and am not sure if that's related at all. Thanks for any help!

I've animated a drawing I made on paper 27 (!!) years ago in 1997. Did all the cutting, slicing and editing in Affinity Photo. Long live the Affinity Photo Clone Stamp, non-destructive vector masking and the great exporter which directly exports to Spine, which is just wonderful! 😀 I've used Esoteric Spine Pro to Animate it. My Macro should do the following: - flatten - resize document - convert format/ ICC profile - duplicate I recorded it successfully, all steps are working except the second step "resize document", simply do nothing. I have entered the new high of 2160 pixel. Why is resize a problem? Or what I'm doing wrong?
