  1. That went offtrack heavily. Im a VFX artist so I will keep it on that sense. 100% of VFX studios run on linux 100% of VFX studios only run windows for Photoshop, 100 % of VFX studios would be extremely onboard to get rid of both PS and Windows. Every 3d app that exists in both Linux and Windows/Mac versions runs better in linux. It just makes sense to have a linux version.
  2. @LeeThorpe As I said "I am trying to save back as exr after minimal editing."
  3. I am trying to save back as exr after minimal editing. Nuke is what I am using to save the file but of course editing the image with the tools that Affinity has its not available. It wouldt be such a big problem if it saved the file even in a big amount of time; but it ends up crashing after waiting for the process to complete. So I guess by your preliminary tests there is no solution available now and in the future? @LeeThorpe ^^
  4. @LeeThorpe Ok thanks Lee; uploading, it will take a while. Uploading 1 file · 225 minutes left *File its uploaded @LeeThorpe
  5. @LeeThorpe Well Lee if you think your dropbox can receive a 15 GB file I can upload it. Although the link doesnt work anymore.
  6. Nothing? any Ideas suggestions acknowledgment? Is it on the list? you guys need a ticket system.
  7. Well the file has certain rights so I cant publicly share it. Yet it comes from mattepainting.com one of their huge 360 skies. However I have tried with other 50 k files and the same result its taking forever to save and then it crashes. Currently waiting on one that hopefully at least saves the file. This other file is client side so no cant share it also. I encountered the issue first while accessing top res NASA files here https://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/archive/PIA23623_hires.tif however I ended up saving in tif yet not exr, it also crashed and took a while to save however much smaller file than the 50k which is 14 GB and this one is only 2.3 GB Exporting the file goes fairly fast half way down (15min) the progress bar, then slows to a crawl till 3/4 of the way (3.7 hours) until it crashes at that point. Right now the process has been reduced to almost nothing just cloning out a couple of hills on the horizon and then exporting it as a new exr. This is now at 1.4 hours
  8. Helloo there. I am exporting a 50k exr file and it has been 3 hours; the progress bar is still moving, very slowly and the program has not crashed yet. Is this normal? I have saved this size exr in other software and takes a while like 15-25 min at the most. Running Windows 10 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7800X CPU @ 3.50GHz 3.50 GHz 128 g of ram Nvidia 1080 TI 12g of ram *Update: After a few hours it crashed without exporting anything.
  9. Hi MEB, thanks for taking a look; so you can also type in higher than 65536 MB values in the MAC version? Because I can for sure type in values lower than this, yet not beyond this 65536 MB limit.
  10. Hey Carl, thanks I tried typing in the value, it just pops back to 65536 MB
  11. Hi there. Hope you can help with this, there seems to be a limit on both RAM usage and Disk usage set to 65536 MB I have both limits set to max as I have very big files that I dont want to be limited by this. My computer is a MAC pro with 1TB SSD and 128 g of ram. I am working on a 2.1 gb file and already getting disk usage warnings every few seconds which makes it unusable, since the popup dialog locks the interface until you hit OK. I am testing this for work as a replacement for.. of course Photoshop and things have been great and we were close to moving on to a second phase in testing; however is this is a big architecture internal limit of Affinity Photo that wont or cant be changed in the near future will mean all testing to stop right now. So hopefully this has a workaround for now.
  12. Of course there is a need to do some work to get VFX into it, not going to be magical, yet there are two important things here. Photoshop its not built with VFX in mind, actually Adobe couldn't care less about it, features and fixes have long been requested and ignored. 32 bit image support in Adobe its a joke, trying to work in 32 bit in photoshop its a nightmare. Affinity is getting very close to the ideal image editing vfx tool either inadvertently or otherwise, but its getting there, plus working in 32 bit images in affinity its seamless. VFX artists are tired of Photoshop in every way, " companies tend to have workflows, scripts, Photoshop Actions, macros, very linked to long years projects, and even a whole way of working for all the company (ie, plugins, c++ custom applications that count on those PS. Actions and scripts, etc)." Workarounds because its bad and doesnt fit any pipeline. "(they're shooting for the safest line, safest bet, and that's outstandingly clever) " Now PS has a stronghold in graphics production publishing and such. You are trying to beat Adobe at its game, while there are other needs for this, other doors that can be used and are not as insignificant as it seems. Going head to head with Adobe with limited recourses its not really cleaver to me. To me seems like an opportunity, Adobe has ignored linux; Affinity trying to behave the same way instead of taking that path and slipping right bellow adobes noses and grabbing this market has to be a mistake. If you keep on windows and mac you are ok, go beyond and use something that adobe wont touch; even better!
