  1. Hi Affinity team, I am having a problem to export an affinity designer's file to PSD, below is the screenshot. Please assist, thank you! Regards, Susan
  2. Hi guys!I hope all is well on your end.I actually just purchased affinity designer & photo and I already have a good workflow!I really like it a lot!But there’s a thing that just kind of staggered me: I’m not able to work with my psd mock-ups the way I’d wish.I’ve done some researches too, but it comes down to the fact that I need to adjust my image into the mockup.Which isn’t bad if you have simple mock-ups. But it’s quite complex when it comes to more advanced shapes.I feel like mock-ups are important somehow to make graphic work stand out more.Could you please bring an update soon with more ‘affinity’ to psd mock-ups please? That would be awesome! Thanks in advance,Jonathan KolomoniRetroness D
  3. Hi, I am trying to export an .afphoto file as layered for an (adobe user) client. I understand that .tif is not an option for me so I tried using the PSD. However, when I export the file seem to reduce in size significantly. I've attached a screenshot so you can see the file size comparison. Original file size is 26MB, export size is around 4MB. Is there some setting I am missing so I can give my client an editable layered PSD file? Thanks.
  4. Hello there, So I'm a website designer, and I would like to design in Affinity Designer more. I found a problem though that is preventing me from doing that full-time...When I export my files to PSD (for handing over to developers) and open them in Photoshop, the text layers appear as image/raster layers and aren't editable. Please help. This is a very important issue for me to resolve. I cannot proceed with using Affinity Designer if our dev team can't edit the texts. Other than this, I am really loving this software. Please help. Thanks, Eli
  5. I am new to affinity and am struggling. How do i view font information in PSDs. A graphic designer is sending me PSDS via my client, i think he creates them in photoshop, the client has assured me font information is contained in the PSDS. Font size, font family, h1, h2 info, stuff like that. I cannot see how to view this information and am becoming really frustrated at how difficult it is to access this basic information. Yes, i googled it, and i found this:(it embeded, it is above this message) It said to "With the file closed in Affinity, can you check under Preferences>General and make sure you have 'Import PSD as Text rather than bitmap' ticked and then reopen the file. You should then be able to select the text and edit it." so i have done that and someone else says " If you use the move tool (arrowhead symbol) and click on the text itself you'll see the font and text size displayed." but still for the life of me cannot see the font family, size and h1 h2 etc. I have attached a screenshot, this is me having clicked the text and in the right handside panel it just says "no style" Please someone help me, it is driving me crazy right now. Thanks a lot in advance!
  6. Hi! I started using Affinity Photo on my iPad and I'm loving it, but i'm having a little problem. I'm not able to export the file to psd, with the editable layerm so I can change the texts in my Photoshop (even by selecting the preset PSD - Preserve editability,) is there any way to do this? Thank you very much for the help.
  7. Hello, I have a web layout that I've created using Affinity Designer and I want to export it as a PSD with layers (preferrably editable where possible) so someone I'm working with who only has and knows Photoshop can make changes. However, when I export the layout no matter which preset I choose (even PSD preserve editability) it always exports flattened to one pixel background layer. I'm opening the result in Photoshop CC 2018. What do I need to change so that it will export my document to layers?
  8. I don’t know how difficult it is to make it possible to save PSD files with editable text layers instead of rasterizing them. This is the one feature that keeps me from doing my design work totally on my iPad without Photoshop. I have a client that needs the ability to edit the text before it goes to print because of data that is not available when I’m working on the job (ie product catalog numbers). So my current workflow is I do all of the design layout, drawing, photo editing on my iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil, then export as a PSD, and then add all the text layers in Photoshop on my laptop. Of course there may not be a high demand for this feature.
  9. Hi, What typical save times are we looking at for the various export options? I'm currently exporting out a PSD at 530mb approx and it's taking ages! I understand it'll vary depending on file size/amount of information, but this does seem really quite slow? Are many people bouncing work between the desktop and iPad? Best, Nick
  10. Hi, I would like to share with you a site where you can download lot of PSD Mockups (electronic, food, item) entirely for Free. All mockups have editable semi-transparent shadows and electronics mockups - iPhone, iPad, Surface also have fully editable screens. All resources available on Undesigns.net are royalty free for use in both personal and commercial projects. You don’t need to include any attribution or link to Undesigns.net. https://undesigns.net/
  11. Hey guys, Does anyone know if Photoshop 2017 can open svg text as editable text? I really hate Photoshop, I really love Affinity, but I still need some way to provide psd files to some of my clients. So I noticed that if I export text as SVG from Affinity, I can keep it as text, and if I inspect it in any browser, I will get the exact info of the font ( font family, size, color, weight, style, line heights, everything). Can I import such a SVG containing text into Photoshop 2017 and see it as editable text in Photoshop? Did anyone try this? I would pay like an idiot for a Photoshop license monthly just for that, and that will make me hate Photoshop even more
  12. Hello! I'm a Capture One user. I've been exporting tiff files & doing heavy retouching in AP before rounding back to finish color edits/crops/batching in C1p. Then i saw this and I'm wondering if i should: a) switch to PSDs assuming they're "better" b) continue using tif files because they work just fine c) ask you guys why the 2 best Adobe competitors aren't working together on making this workflow C1p-AP-C1p using afphoto files I'm going to be honest. If Serif wastes development funds on pushing a Lightroom competitor into an overcrowded market (rather than a legit asset manager like bridge) I'll be pretty disappointed. I'm sure no one cares. Serif already has >$100 from me & I'll rush the queue to get at that publisher sweetness when it comes either way. But, real innovation & working with industry leaders (as serif has with x-rite) is what I'm looking for.
  13. I did a lot of reading as well as exploring within AP, but couldn't find the correct info to help me, so I'm posting here. Forgive the amount of info, but at least you'll know what I'm driving at. Please bear with me. I have a PSD template I use for colorizations in PS. I would like to open that (or any other preexisting file) in AP and maintain all layers, associated masks, colors, and clipped adjustment layers, as well as groups, blending options, etc. What I'm getting is that the groups seems ok. I noticed that the icon displays effects of what is within that group, whereas in PS, it was a simple Group icon. This is a nice touch in AP. Blending modes and opacities are the same. The Solid Color fill layers and their associated masks are merged when loaded into AP, instead of having a fill layer and separate mask underneath it like when creating a fill layer, then adding a layer mask if it was done directly in AP. The layer icon background is black and the revealed area is a color similar to what was masked in PS, but the RGB Hex number for the Solid Color fill layers in PS do not match the RGB Hex number in AP. Note that the color profile is set the same in preferences, but could be different in the template file, which I've had for a long time, and since it doesn't happen in something like the example below. I will use a simple example here without groups, one that can be recreated by anyone rather than me uploading a picture: In a PS PSD file, layers tab, we have: - a locked background picture - let's say of two green balloons. - a Solid Color fill layer - let's say blue, and named "Blue Balloon". - the associated layer mask that PS automatically added when choosing the Solid Color fill layer. This is inverted to all black except for the white portion set to a selection of one of the balloons to allow us to change the color to blue or any other color we want thereafter, and to allow us to change or adjust the masked area later on as well. - a Hue Saturation layer clipped to the Solid Color fill layer below it - let's say we set Hue to +25 and Saturation to +50 for the sake of this example. Save the PSD file, then open it in AP. In AP, layers tab, we have: - a locked background (Pixel) picture of the two green balloons. - a layer named "Blue Balloon (Fill)". It appears to be a merge of the blue Solid Color fill layer and the associated layer mask created in PS. - a Hue Saturation layer that looks clipped (is under the fill layer), but seems to have no affect on the Solid Color fill layer above it. Also, Hue Shift has the color under cyan at +25 as compared to blue in PS. Saturation Shift appears to be the same. So at first glance, it appears we have a few problems: the fill layer and mask are merged, the RGB Hex number is different (in my colorization template but not any other file I start from scratch), and the HS layer does not appear to be active, nor does the hue amount match when loaded into AP. First, how can I ensure that the color hex numbers are the same when loading a PSD file in AP? Next, are there solutions and/or workarounds to loading PSD files into AP, especially in the case of merged layers and masks, and if so, what are they, and what have you users been doing in these types of situations? Cheers! p.s. Is there a preview post option on this forum? I just get Cancel and Submit Topic.
  14. Hi, Please, can you give us an estimate date on which the feature that will allow us to export text from Affinity to Photoshop and keep the text editable will be live? Please, I'm practically begging, I love this friggin app, and this is the only thing keeping me from working with it. PLEASE! At least an estimate! Thank you, Chris
  15. I love Affinity Photo. I am about to cancel my Adobe subscription. But if there were one thing above all else that I would love Affinity to do for me it would be this. If I open a Photoshop document or a TIFF or whatever format it may be and work on it and then hit save I would like it to save in that same format rather than forcing me to going to export and export in the same format it came in in and then say yes I do want to overwrite the old version. I'm a fan of the Affinity format but I use ACDSee to organise my photographs and although it renders a preview it cannot output full-size JPEG's et cetera. I also cannot add IP TC information to Affinity formatted files (which is insane, by the way). Incidentally, this leads me to my second Christmas wish. Please stop stripping all my meta data out of my images when I take them into Affinity. I import into ACDSee and attach all my meta data then and have it all stripped out again is crazy in terms of a failing of a program such as Affinity and means I have to go through the whole process all over again or my images are just going to get lost in the maelstrom of photographs in my collection. Please can we have these sorted out? Thanks so much. How about 2018 makes Affinity exactly what it can be?!
  16. Hi, How can you use Affinity Photo or Designer to make responsive images? If you have hero or jumbotron my guess is you need to make an image of a different size for all screen sizes using the same image. But what is workflow in Affinity Photo or Designer? Also how can PSD files play a role in all of this?
  17. Hello, I never worked with smart layers before. I'm working on a psd file that has smart layers. I need to place some images in/within a smart layer. I managed to do this with one image but now with the second layer I can't replicate the same thing with another image. See the screenshot and the layer outlined in red (Image-1). How do I get the same with the layer (Image-2) beneath it, so that the Image-2 and Double Click Here is also filled up with the image I want to place in the layer. I tried looking at the history and tried copy and pasting the image on the layer but I can't get to the same result as it is with the Image-1 layer. Thanks.
  18. Hello everybody, I am desperatly trying to edit a normal vector .psd file (no smart object) . Unfortunately erveytime I open the file, I get an ugly bitmap image. The different layers appears correctly, but I am not able to get a pixelfree image (=vector image). I already tried to take .ai copy of the file, unfortunately it didn´t worked out neither. How can I load a.psd vector file without any quality loss? Any clue someone? Thanks in advance!
  19. Hello, Affinity Designer is great app for designing but also great for Website and App Mockup but why I can't export PSD as editable text this is a really important feature for only this function I need to go back to PS every time I do Website or App Mockup because 90% of my clients want Mockup in PSD with editable text if this feature is not available please implement this as soon as possible ( I search a 2-year-old post requesting this feature) and I say goodbye to PS and AI. Also if anyone knows any workaround for this please help me.
  20. Is there any way when opening a psd file to be able to have text layers editable rather than as pixel data. I receive psd files from designers that I turn into websites and I need to be able to select the text and find out the font name, style, weight etc...
  21. Why can't I just save an image as either TIFF, PSD or even JPG after the Develop Persona. Why this complicated Export Persona? Adobe at least got that right. This is a struggle every time. I'm sorry but I'm giving up on this.
  22. I'm trying to export a mockup for a site to the dev with all the fonts / styling & spacing intact to PSD since the dev doesn't use Affinity. Been trying various ways to export it and still yields no results - pretty frustrated. Please help, thanks.
  23. Hi everyone, i couldn´t find any information about the psd export funktions in the export dialog for the psd files. so is there anyone who could explain in detail, what they mean, and when to use which export option ? thanks Tom
  24. Hello, Starting to make a book cover on AFD 1.6.84 1) I just noticed frequent crashing upon inserting layered PSDs - just by drag-and-dropping them from another folder. Is it because /uhhh/ from Adobe or some known development issue or should I just use PNGs instead? 2) Both in AFD 1.5 and 1.6beta/1.6.84/ I noticed some silhouette/slight envelope around inserted PSD files, they come with transparency. Again-is it by /arrrgh../ Adobe or should I just use PNGs instead? UPDATE: not anymore after file saved&reopened Cheers,
  25. Hi Folks, I'm after some help again. I created a very simple and basic logo design in affinity designer and I now want to use a PSD mockup of a van I have and put my design over top of that to show it on the van. I have opened up the Mock up van and my design both in Affinity Photo but the next bit is where it all goes wrong. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the overlay right. I know I will need to use a mask but I really am not very clued up with using them. Can anyone help? Thanks again Mark Oh yeah... Ive attached my two files BCL Colour .psd GemGfx_Vehicle_Branding_Mockup.psd
