  1. It is well known that nodes can do everything about layers(ui). The layer cannot do some of the node's actions. Nodes are 100% compatible with layers(ui) and channels(ui). Make changes to the existing layer(ui) to make it nodey while maintaining compatibility with the original layer(ui). Adobe PS lacks even a true alpha channel(ui) because of its stale architecture. Nodeized Layer(node-ui) and channel(node-ui), affinity will have far more flexibility than PS. Adobe can never do that because of its stale architecture. This ensures an absolute lead in affinity. This node feature does not require a huge amount of new code, just changes to existing layer(ui). (I know that many(Affinity)programs are backends(Behind) based on nodes., so this is easier to do) It does not require changing the appearance of the existing layer(ui). Just provide an option to enable the advanced 3D multi-layer box node layer(node) channel(node) framework(ui). Reference implementation: https://natrongithub.github.io/ Natron (open source)
  2. Hi, Is there a way to convert multiple nodes from multiple objects at once (without merging objects)? Even though I'm selecting multiple nodes here, it won't convert unless I select each object separately, then select all nodes from within each object. Not productive at all.
  3. hello , does anyone knows how can i decrease the nodes like the following picture ? thanks in advanced
  4. Hi! When I'm working on UI, I want to quickly copy and paste or replace selected nodes inside the same shape or another shape. I know I can do it with a compound object but it's a long process when you just want to isolate a group of nodes and turn them into a new curves path or paste/replace on another.
  5. hello designers , i am a new affinity designer user and i need someone to help me (look to the video) , and i need it to be like this (look to image) thanks Desktop_2020_05.11_-_10_21_12_01.mp4
  6. This is probably a simple solution, but I am trying to use the corner tool and having some issues. I know with the large circle nodes on a corner, you just need to transform the node type to a sharp corner to be able to use the corner tool. But what about the small circle node? It doesn't let me use the corner tool on it and I am not sure what to do or if there is a way to change the node type? On the image below, note that there are 2 small cirlce nodes where there should be square nodes on the corners. How can I get these to work with the corner tool?
  7. 369/5000 I don't know if this option is currently under development, but in my opinion it would be very useful to have a node-based editor as an option to the layer system (Have both options). Because I work with 32 bit exr files to be able to generate multipass compositing and it would be very useful to speed up the workflow without having to copy the same information to other layers. Thank you.
  8. Affinity team, please, put some work into the node welding. I'm seeing this topic keeps coming up and yet years later its generally not working. Two nodes on top of each other, same object, two curves and the nodes won't weld together. Curve direction is an issue since each curve may be in a different direction, this should be fixed at run time when the two nodes are combined. New curve should preserve both sides of the node, so a check if it needs to be cusp, smooth or symmetrical. That's it. I know this is a huge mathematical/coding challenge but your team is challenging big players in the industry (and doing a really good job over all so far) so you have to face this issue at some point and conquer it. This is a very basic need, the fact that it's an issue is a really a bad mark on an incredible piece of software. Please, please, please address this.
  9. >Improved the reliability of Boolean Geometry operations What has improved? It still creates countless of unnecessary nodes. This is a big problem...
  10. Hi guys. Bit of noob here. I created some Art text which contains an embedded vector graphic as a fill. When I convert to curves my embedded graphic turns black. How do I convert the text into an editable curve that I can manipulate without losing the embedded graphic? Apologies if I’m not using the correct terminology. I’ve attached a before and after shot.
  11. I am mainly illustrating origami diagrams, a relatively geometric discipline. A common operation is to fold the paper, or a flap, into half. This translates into dividing an edge (a straight line between two nodes) by adding a new node between the end point nodes of the edge. Could we get a feature in AD (iPad) supporting this? Could be: Select a segment (an edge). Press Add point (new operation, places the new point in the middle). This is how InkScape does it. Oe better: Select n nodes. Press Distribute (new operation). This way might be more in line with the iPad AD way, and much more general. Please note I am not asking how to construct the midpoint of an edge and place a node there. I know how to do this, several ways. I am asking for an operation that directly supports something I do often, and which might be of general interest. There is some partial support when the edges are vertical or horizontal (when holding one finger down while dragging the node with the pen), but not for anything else. My apologies if I have overlooked an existing operation on iPad AD.
  12. I discovered this while trying to align individual nodes on multiple paths today. The simplest case to reproduce is as follows: Draw 3 overlapping paths with three 'sharp' nodes each: Start, (approx) middle and end. Using the Node tool, select the middle nodes of each path Choose Align Horizontally: Center and Align Vertically: Center Observe the center points. Depending on the starting positions of the nodes, they may now be curved instead of sharp, and oddly curved when viewed up close. In this case, I would expect the nodes to stay the same type (sharp to stay sharp, curved to stay curved). The strange curved behaviour seen in panel 3 attached seems especially wrong though, and currently means I can't use the align tool for this job. Let me know if I can provide any more info. Thanks!
  13. Hi i hoped, todays update fix this but i can’t use the node lasso (two fingers down in nodes to draw around and select nodes). Anybody else here? I added a video. greets w00dst0ck E12048A5-4205-465D-9510-32453C3F7909.MP4
  14. Noob question: So I have a letter that I've converted to curves, and I want to tweak the letter form a bit. One thing I'd like to do is delete one of the serifs in the letter, and then lengthen the extender. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to select the nodes in the serif, other then shift clicking on every single node, which is would be very tedious because of all of the curves in the serif. I've tried using the node tool and clicking and dragging over the serif of the font, but nothing is selected. I've looked through the tutorials, but all I can find is how to select the entire object, or how to modify a single node. Any help with this would be appreciated.
  15. I’m new to Affinity Designer and used to working with Inkscape. Concerning notes and curves, there is a tool in Inkscape to open or close a curve which I cannot find on Affinity Designer. Where can I find it? Or are there different ways of achieving the same result? Specifically I’m trying to merge the three nodes highlighted in blue here and get rid of the loop that I crossed out in red:
  16. I’ve acquired Affinity Designer yesterday for my iPad Pro. I’m not quite sure as to what the meaning of these icons are under the node tool. The help button doesn’t reveal any tooltip unfortunately. Can an anyone enlighten me? Thanks!
  17. Hi Team, I also use AD to draft clothing patterns and other work where measurement is of supreme importance and work has to be precise. Features that will help with this are missing in AD. I'm sure you are adding and will keep adding features; I would realllllly appreciate it if you could bring these features to AD soon. I'm dependent on it to use them for my work and it's absolutely necessary. Following are some scenarios and features that I think will help; 1) Using pen tool, when I click a point and move my mouse/cursor etc, I want to know the measurement of how far I'm going; so I'll know when to stop and click my next point. Similar to how some of the dynamic guides work. 2) When I select a series of nodes on a path, I want to know the length of that curve or line. Without these two, for me it's not efficient to work in AD and is too time consuming to get the results I want..Hope to see these in AD updates soon..Thank you very much!
  18. I was used to holding down the Alt/Option key while clicking on a node in order to make the next node independent. Now, all of a sudden, I find I have to hold down both the Ctrl/Command and the Alt/Option keys at the same time while clicking on a node to accomplish the same thing. Have I, by accident, done something to change this behavior? I'm using Affinity Photo 1.7. Thanks for any help provided.
  19. Hello, I'm a figure drawing artist and I have been using Adobe Illustrator to draw quick figure sketches for a number of years. Key to this process is the ability to direct the pencil tool to not select each new line I draw, so I can sketch simple lines quickly without the distraction of anchor points. I haven't been able to find the Affinity Designer equivalent that would allow me to draw with the pencil tool without seeing the Nodes. Is there a toggle that allows this? I've attached to this post a short clip illustrating what I'm talking about. On the right, I have an Illustrator window, with its pencil tool set to not select new lines. I can draw with no problems. On the left, Affinity Designer's pencil tool keeps lines selected, with nodes being a visual distraction as well as editing lines when I'm drawing too close to the last line I drew instead of making a new line. I want to be clear, drawing in the Pixel persona is not the solution I'm looking for. I'd like my lines to remain vector and editable after drawing, and to be able to do this from the Designer persona. Is this currently possible?
  20. Hello, there is something that is bugging me, or something maybe I did not understand the right away after watching Affinity Designer Tutorialvideos on your learn page. At first I was excited because you guys added the possibilities to add curves/nodes in one excisting curves/Path. Like in this Image I tried (1 Forum): Now I hoped that Affinity Designer would now recognize 2 different closed form in one existing path. I selected the fill tool, tried to hover it to the closed form on the right side, but instead of filling this closed form with a color, it does this (2 Forum): why? I hoped thos would speed up my workflow, but it seems like I still have to make 2 different paths in order for Affinity Designer to recognize 2 different closed form. Would be nice if Affinity Designer could recognize several closed form in one path! Does anyone have a workflow to this (workaround). I hoped to use the pathfinder tool much less (does AD also call it the pathfinder tool?) Oh, by the way, the isometric advanced tool is sooo awesome...good work serif
  21. Hi, I am creating the letter F by connecting the two nodes in the red circle to create a single path that I want to expand from a stroke to a shape and export to FontForge. After trying everything on the list below, ‘join’ continues to connect the two other end nodes in the green circle that I don’t want to connect. Things I have tried: Select both nodes in the red circle and ‘join’ and 'close' Select both nodes in the red circle hold shift and drag until both nodes turn yellow Enable ‘snap to selected nodes’ then select both nodes in the red circle and ‘join’ ‘Join’ both nodes in the green circle, select again and ‘break’
  22. I need to connect a node to make curve to make a shape that I can fill-in. Going crazy trying to figure it out. See video... help! 3240A334-EFD3-4B56-B30C-74DCA483A5F6.MOV
  23. Suppper duppper updates.. You gurus are awesome... I've been looking many things, and I found now in Affinity Designer. Specially.. nodes transforms... Point Transform tool.. The Isometric layout,,, are you kidding???? There would definitely be a lot more.. But i'd been looking for these. I will explore all . Thank you Affinity Devs..
  24. When I create a path using the Affinity Designer pen tool, some of the nodes are square, and some are round; some nodes include dots, and some are empty. I haven't been able to find an explanation of this in the help files.
  25. I need perfectly symmetrical curves for a water symbol. How can I do this? I can snap the nodes to the grid and whatever else. But I can’t figure out a way to make the node handles snap. Help please. Thanks. C3559A0F-37E3-4429-B562-9CE51182E91C.MOV
