    My Passport Pro

I have just acquired an IPad Pro and have hoped to use this as my primary editing device. As most of what I do is along the lines of "Street" there is little that Affinity Photo cannot achieve on the IPad app. That said, I shoot in RAW and would like to store my photos on either my WD NAS system or preferably on my WD My Passport Pro. A typical workflow would be to Download to the MPP using the auto download slot then import the raw file to affinit. On export I would like to export directly to my MPP so that all of my work is available from there. Clearly I would retain the originals on the SDD Card and I have a backup system to my NAS system which I usually access when I am at home As far as I can tell Affinity will not allow me to add the MyCloud app to locations which is central to this issue... Am I missing something here?
  2. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could shed light on the import of Adobe Illustrator files (.ai) into either Affinity Photo, or Designer. Upon opening an .ai file you are presented with a window. The window is titled "PDF Options". First up, I'm not importing a PDF, but a vector .ai file type. I would expect that either Affinity Photo or Designer would distinguish the difference. Additionally you are presented with an odd, overly dark black & white thumbnail of the file. Why is the thumbnail so poor quality and not in colour? The whole layout of the import window just doesn't lend itself to what you would expect when importing vector files, especially in Affinity Designer. I can understand that Affinity Photo might have less options, but Affinity Designer using the same import window? Why is it even necessary for an import window in Designer if there are no necessary options? Is this a bug, or something I don't get? Thanks.
  3. Can I import .asl files (layer styles) into affinity photo for the iPad Pro?

    SVG rounded corners importing bug

Hi. When I import a SVG with a rectangle with the rounded corners property, for example: rx="15%" Affinity Designer ignores the value and sets a default absolute value of 0.2px. guidelines.svg
  5. When I import the attached PDF file AD only shows and imports grey images (see screen shot). Opening the PDF in Acrobat or Preview everything looks good. Photoshop also imports that PDF without issues. I tried other PDFs from that very same source (IMSLP database for music score) with exact same results. The only workaround so far is to "print" the PDF as new PDF. The result opens up perfectly in AD. Since this does not happen with all other kinds of PDFs so far, only with the ones from that source, I suppose the issue is linked to how these PDFs are being generated by IMSLP. But since Photoshop opens them perfectly I'd expect AD to do the same. Update: I forgot to mention that this happens on macOS and WIN10 IMSLP18948-PMLP12561-Bartók_-_String_Quartet_No._3_(score).pdf
  6. Is there a way to import .asl files into Affinity photo for iPad Pro? It looks like, from the menu, there is room for other styles. Please advise. I’m loving Affinity photo, btw! Thank you.
  7. Good evening everyone, I've a little question because I'm new to Photo and I cannot understand if I'm doing something wrong or if it's an Affinity Photo problem. I'm opening a Multichannel OpenEXR generated by Blender that contains all my render passes (I've check that with a compositing software and all the passes are there) but Photo only show me into the layer tab the RGB "beauty" channel and the alpha one. I don't understand why that's happen because as far as I know Photo should support Multichannel OpenEXR without any problem. I'm missing something or I've found a potential bug/issue? Thanks for the help N.
  8. There are problems with the display / rendering of connectors and labels of connectors on import of an SVG into Affinity Designer. In Affinity Designer the connectors are no longer properly connected to the nodes. I attach a comparison of the appearance in the Fnder vs that in Affinity Designer. Importing text psd file

When importing a psd-file with textlayers with "Nunito type font", not rasterized, the text is messed up. When importing the file with "text rasterized" everthing is as intended. I have the feeling that the Nunito font itself could be the reason, the text layer with an arial black font seems ok (this text layer is not displayed by default) I submit the psd file as an attachment. PS i'm using the latest version, just released a couple of days ago in a Windows 10 enviroment. Thanks for looking at this and keep up the excelent work logo_m&c_produktie.psd
  10. I have a FH file that extensively uses the glow effect; I am wondering if AD can't open that? Another FH files without the effect appears to be able to open the file.
  11. Image clipping on an SVG file is not displayed correctly and the vector mask layer is missing, this is not a problem when I tried to import it into Adobe Illustrator. This problem is not present in the previous version (1.5.2.58) here both Inkscape and Illustrator displayed the SVG correctly as you can see, the circle vector mask is deleted, caused the clipping not displayed correctly, and the image size/image scaling is not correct here is the file to check it out drawing.svg
  12. After successful import of Frankentoon brushes they do not appear in the brushes menu in Affinity Designer 1.6 (german language)
  13. Hi! I couldn't find anything directly related to my question, so I figured I'd try to ask independently. I'm not new to AD (I LOVE IT, by the way), but I am new to AE, and I currently don't see any worthy equivalent to it (hoping you guys make it happen!)... So, as I'm getting more into Motion Graphics, my question is, how do I successfully export my AD work in to AE?? I saw it done on YouTube, but the guy was doing a time lapse vid, and didn't at all show how he seemingly seamlessly imported his vector work into AE. And I don't see ANYWHERE how to do this. I know there's got to be a way. Can anyone please help!? Thank you so much in advance.
  14. Hallo dear people from affinity, first i have to admit , that i love your program. It allready has got a very complete and great toolset when it comes to refining images and photos and for sure is on one level with Adobe photoshop, just for an increadible smal amount of money.. After researching the toolset of this program for my architectural company, i still can say it is a great program. But there are areas of the program, that are just much slower , thinking of the workflow of a usual architectual company, and the way Architects have to deal with competitions. Especialy in this area, in this most important workflow for architects, the way we have to construct Plans, Affinity Photo is not on one level in comparison to Photoshop. So i hope very very much, that this can be improved. So please dear people of Affinity Photo, take my post to your develloperteam, and have a look at it. I know making Software is a complicated task, and even more, because you have to deal with compatibility tasks to other Companys, that for sure won´t like to help you (thinking of pdf files.... for example).. But even Germany has got about 130 000 Architects, and most of them at the moment depend on using Photoshop at some moment in Competitions, So just think of this market... . and maybe in a later release, we can get an improved workflow also for architects and not only for photographers... thanks.. so here comes a link to a video i recorded just to show you the workflow of Architects, using Affinity, compared to Photoshop..

    Macros Broken on Photo 1.6

Just updated to the new version (1.6.0.89) and my macros are gone, both the ones I downloaded and the ones I created in the previous version. I can bring up the import dialog, but it doesn't display any of the macro files I have on my drive. What should I do now? Windows 10, 64 bit
  16. If I want to save a pic I have to export it to Dropbox and download to Photos. Exporting to Pages is no help to me. I want to flatten a composite and then use it in another program. I just got Affinity Photo for iPad this week and the tutorial for drag and drop on iOS 11 shows importing multiple files to Home Page but I can't find how to add them from the Home page as layers. So far I have to keep going out to Dropbox and loading one at a time with Place. I couldn't load them as a stack.
  17. Hello, I have generated an SVG file using a Blender add-on, which is scripted in Python. When I try to open the file in Affinity Designer 1.5.3.69 I get the following error: "Failed to open file" "The file could not be parsed." The file opens fine in the latest Google Chrome and Adobe Illustrator CS6 I found a solution to fix the error: Change the line: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='ascii'?> to: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> This issue is the same as the one reported on the "Bugs on Mac" forum: Here is a sample file: 0001.svg Thanks, Dave
  18. Just heard of your product. I am a part time photographer. I have Lightroom to edit my photos . This is the first year I want to make Christmas cards for customers. I noticed I can get a lot of borders, themed objects in Vector files online. Will Affinity designer allow me to import and work with Vector files combine them with JPG files and Export as a jpeg, PSD, and gif? Thank Shannon
  19. Hi guys, I found out, that this program - https://www.photopea.com/ - can open photoshop files much better and maybe even perfect, than Affinity Designer. I am little bit disappointed. Just saying. Otherwise I am currently missing just few features from Photoshop (e.g. importing video / gif files). Great software. Thank you.

    13 SVG bugs & 1 crash

Hi again, as I was importing some of my SVGs, I noticed some slight issues with their appearance in Affinity. So, I did some testing and found out what was causing these issues. I've created a separate file for each bug (14 in total). It should become clear by following the instructions below. If not, just let me know! Disclaimer: Importing the first file will (most likely) make Affinity crash. Please save your work progress before trying! Instructions: 1. Open the attached files in a web browser 2. Now import them into Affinity (Photo or Designer) 3. Compare both versions closely Cheers! ------------------------------------------- Affinity Designer Version: 1.5.1.43 Affinity Photo Version: 1.5.1.54 Operating System: Windows 10 1_crash_when_colour_capitalised.svg 2_stroke_although_colour_not_set.svg 3_no_fill_when_colour_capitalised.svg 4_incorrect_gradients_when_gradientUnits_objectBoundingBox.svg 5_nested_svgs.svg 6_no_repetitive_gradients.svg 7_stroke_dasharray_wrong_direction_starting_point_array_too_short.svg 8_no_patterns.svg 9_incorrect_skewing.svg 10_no_drop_shadows.svg 11_no_blending.svg 12_close_path_and_moveToEnd(!).svg 13_no_masking.svg 14_no_markers.svg
  22. Hi. Ive been trying to import luts into my app but I get a grayed out Dropbox icon. Please help! thanks in advance! im running on latest update of iOS 11 as of 17th October 2017. I’ve uploaded a photo as an example. I tried both MAC and windows version of the lut but it doesn’t work. Both appears the same as this just that the file name and size is different. All of the luts are cube files which I understand is a file type that can be used on affinity photo app on the iPad Pro. Thanks again!
  23. The <symbol> SVG element is being handled incorrectly. Below is the svg. This imports to Affinity Designer as two mirrored rectangles in displaced locations. All other svg's with the <symbol> element are similarly garbled. I've included a screen shot and the .svg file. This element should create a single rectangle in the Studio Symbols palette with an instance at the xlink coordinates, and named per the id="rectangle_symbol" which is not the same as the svg source file name. Thanks! <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?> <!-- Generator: Adobe Illustrator 18.1.1, SVG Export Plug-In . 24. First of all I think Affinity Photo for iPad is a great tool and one of a kind in the sense there's nothing that gets even close in App Store to the features you guys are providing. However I'm not entirely satisfied with the process how it works today. I understand this issue is partly because of Apple limitations on iPad platform but maybe there's something that could be improved on Affinity Photo side also and hence this feature request. As a photographer and traveler I want to travel light but still want to be able to process my RAW images and generate JPG export files easily. 1. I go on a site and take pictures with my DSLR and later import the photos to my iPad pro using Apple camera connection kit. (Ideally I would like to import directly to files or Affinity photo) 2. Once the photos are in iPad I would like to create a project with all of the imported RAW files without individually locating and adding them one by one. Could be something like import all photos from album "Last import" 3. I will do the edits to all the files I find are worth keeping and removing bad shots 4. I would like to batch export all RAW files to photos app (or files app) as JPG files
  25. Hi, I have a 9.7” iPad Pro with iOS 11.01 and the latest version of Affinity Photo (1.6.5.61). I have a Canon 70D camera. I saved some RAW files to google Drive. I can’t “Import From Cloud” the CR2 files as they are greyed out. If I go to the Drive app and select “Open In”, I can choose Affinity Photo as an option, but absolutely nothing happens when I do this. Am I missing a step? Are RAWs from my camera not supported? Is there anything else that I can do? My hope was that I could use my iPad and Affinity for post work when I travel and avoid lugging a laptop, but I’m wondering if I may have made a mistake. Any advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated
