It should be considered more reliable than the current Mac App Store version (1.5.4)" As I've just lost work to a spinning ball (after discovering a bug - just filed that), I'd love to. However, the betas (quite sensibly) run isolated from the production version: what do I do to give the beta the same brushes, tools, settings (etc etc - basically everything the production version has installed)? I understand it has to be a copy rather than a link so a bug won't wipe the production settings, but on the other hand, without the full tool environment it's only half a test to start with :). I'm working with a relatively large (1.5 GB) file with multiple art boards and embedded PDF's. AD crashes every time I try to edit one of the embedded files. I've previously tried resetting all AD settings at startup, and just downloaded Beta 1.5 in the hopes that it would fix the problem, but it still happens every time I either hit 'edit document' or double click the embedded doc. I'm currently getting around this by reinserting all the documents I originally embedded as layers, but it's very time consuming. Any help or tips would be appreciated - thanks! -
I hope someone can guide me as I'm finding conflicting information and seek clarity. My AP and AD takes ages to open. I have seen postings relating to that - and I have seen postings saying after downloading the beta's there are improvement's on speed of opening. That said I did it. THEN I see a posting saying there is no need to download the beta's unless you are looking for a specific fault. I downloaded the Macros and UI goodies and attempted to load them. I have 2 readme files one refers to AP the other to AD - When I try to load the files for AP and unzip them they have AD logo's. With AD and AP when I try to import the goodies it says they are not infinity files. ????????????? I unistalled the Beta on AP and AD. Tried to import. Probably O.K. Am getting a little miffed so have not tried to use them yet. I've now got the slow loading again. Should I download the Beta's again? What do I do? Lastly - now I've decided to post again, I would like to say both negative and positive comments. I am not a negative person. I have been a loyal customer to Serif for so many years I can't remember when I bought my first package. I have bought nearly everything they have produced and ALWAYS ALWAYS by the manuals. Also I'm not in the habit of telling social media what I'm doing at any given moment. Therefore WHY oh WHY have Serif in their wisdom not supplied a help line - albeit during certain hours to enable folk to ask question's and not feel awkward about posting comments because they don't have the wealth of knowledge the good folk on the forum have? Will will get a manual. and if so when please? I am very saddened and disillusioned with you Serif. I thought better of you. That said it is worth repeating that the software is indeed very good. Thank you in advance. -

1.5.1.47 Beta -- Running the Photoshop plugin, Plugin Galaxy, a second time in an editing session generates an error message: Memory Access Violation. 1. In an open image, call Plugin Galaxy via the plugin menu. Select a plugin setting, apply, closing Plugin Galaxy. 2. Call Plugin Galaxy a second time, the "Memory Access Violation" appears. -
Is export crippled on the Photo Windows beta? I just want to check that that is indeed the problem and not something else before I spend my money on the proper version. What is happening is that I go through the export dialogue, but when the save dialogue comes up, Affinity is the only file format offered. -
Windows 10 (x64) with 8GB RAM. I restarted Windows 10 so that no other applications were using memory. I then ran Affinity Beta and selected 3, Nikon 750 RAW files to do an HDR merge. I chose ghost removal and proceeded with the merge. (Each file was about 29MB in size). Part way through the merge I received the following error: Photo.exe A new guard page for the stack cannot be created. I tried to use the Windows 10 Snipping Tool to screen capture the error message but each time I started the tool, the screen immediately snapped back to error message and Affinity Beta. After about 3 attempts to start the Snipping Tool the screen went black an Windows was totally unresponsive. The system needed to be rebooted. The Event Log output is attached. Hi! The Color Picker won'twork with a surface Pen: I try to pick a color, but while Dragging the "zoom lens" jumps between the start of the drag and the current pen position. Using the touchpad works just fine. -
I’m very interested in betas (or even alphas) of Affinity Photo, specifically the future iPad version. I’m pretty good at finding obscure bugs and documenting repeatable errors with screenshots. I have a 15” MacBook Pro with Touch Bar so if you need people to test the next version of Photo I’m all in. How to update a Affinity Photo Beta (for Windows) ? First to uninstall old beta version and install new one OR we can install new beta version and it will upgrade old version ???

Since I installed the new version (1.5.0.42), every time I try to open a new file, or a previously created one, or an image, the program crashes. I've restarted my computer, but it still happens. This shows up. The picture appears, but the program crashes.

I suspect this is a rather naive question to ask, but... Following purchase and installation of the full release version a number of brushes were offered, and installed, as "extras". Now the first Customer Beta has been released and installed alongside the "full" version, I can no longer see/use in the Beta many of the brushes that I see installed in the .36 release. (I also installed a few of the brushes available in the Resources section of this forum; again, they do not seem to be present in the current Beta.) Any advice? Thanks, Jeff -
Hi guys, as I have the 1.5.4 version, I can't open the beta version anymore. But I need to open it in order to export assets from my documents (they are not embedded). How can I do that?

In the File Explorer on Windows 10, I expect the "(right click on image file) > open with" menu to list Affinity Photo as an option, but it doesn't. Suggest registering as a handler for image file types, during installation. I think there's a way to register with the "edit" and "open" verbs, but I'm not familiar with the process. This might help: Guidelines for File Associations and Default Programs. -
The weeks leading up to release of Affinity Designer 1.5 really spoiled us as I got used to the schedule of a new beta, with bug fixes and feature upgrades arriving every week. Now that 1.5 is released, what is the anticipated schedule for further development? Will there be bug fixes before 1.6? Will there be betas for 1.6 any time soon? Has the team jumped ship for the time being to Affinity Photo? Will the team jump to Affinity Publisher after that? Thanks for such a great product :) -

Usually all my Affinity changes show up in Apple Photos but when I go to make further edits in Affinity all the changes get lost. Is this happening to anyone else? Is this a bug? It almost seems like I should just edit all my photos from the Finder since it doesn't look like the Apple Photo to Affinity Photo "edit in" feature is working. Frustrating. The layers usually get flattened when exiting from Affinity but does that mean I can't go back and keep the look of the edits I just did? That doesn't make sense to me. -

Hi, On PS I have the Tools toolbar moved to the right of the UI near to layers and other panels for ease of use. Will the function to move the toolbar be included in Windows version? cheers, Paul -
Hi, I note that Affinity Mac has Location Panel with map function. I cannot see this in the Windows beta? I have over 100,000 images with GPS Lon/Lat/Alt in the exif. Will the Map/Location function be included soon? cheers, Paul

I downloaded the Windows Affinity Designer beta trial -- I think within the last 2 weeks. (?) I tried it out a couple days ago, then got an email that there was an update, tried to load the update - but the link from the email to the update led to a page that offered it for $49.99. Seems that must have been the Mac version; since the Windows version is in beta. I have been unable to run the beta at all. A message comes up that says the program has expired. Nor can I buy it, since it's in beta. This seems strange. Does the Windows Beta version have a fairly short use period? Or did I somehow trip a wire and get linked in as a Mac user, ... ?? -
Hi guys, I made a video to describe the problem I was getting in affinity Beta, latest install on 23rd October. Basically the line width was not working, and showing erroneous values, being jumpy. It happened a few times in the session, so I eventually made a video of it to post here: https://youtu.be/FD2GYKQW1yc I had to upload to youtube as the file was too big to upload here. The video shows the unresponsiveness of it, and that by continually just fiddling eventually it comes right, but it's very likely a software problem as my hardware is top notch and new. OS: win 10. The audio in the video for some reasons turns up the bass way loud, but it should show the problem and you should still hear me (Yes i have an accent..one that hollywood in all its efforts just cannot replicate ;) )

I understand that one of the candidate builds will eventually turn into a release version very soon. This is something to celebrate, of course, but it brings me to a question. I know it's a naive one but I have to ask it anyway. (I'm quite disappointed with some of your competitors' practices.) Your current rhythm of improvements and fixes is great, as is your unusual responsiveness to users. Are these qualities really part of the company policy? Will you guys keep doing this even well after the beta is over? Thanks for any thoughts.
