  1. Agreeing with that very much, Reptorian. I do love those two open source applications (specially Krita, I paint a lot with it) (yet tho, Blender keeps being my favorite open source application, and each update confirms this, almost exponentially, Wings3D too, just because....well nothing faster/this flexible in my hands for 3D modeling) . And have combined the use of Inkscape with Designer, too. But...except for some functions (where Inkscape singularly shines even compared with uber expensive software), I believe Designer is going to be -actually, is, already- my "main" design/vectors application. Slowly but firmly (in the past I purchased many apps in the range of 500 - 2000 $, and those are the ones taking dust now, while Affinity instead is a total win, for me), my tool set has become totally mid/low cost and free/open source (I have purchase a pair of other 2D apps, for specific uses). IMO, these worlds complement each other. It's an absolutely winning combination. requires a little more effort (IMO, the gap is very little lately. Many years ago it was really really worse), but the reward is immense in every sense. IE, my main app for mail, (also with IMAP accounts) is Thunderbird, which is open source, from Mozilla, and I use exclusively Libre Office (as I don't need very specific compatibility, for some special cases). And even so..... I need TOTALLY for professional work a good number of affordable cost but professional level applications : Besides the most important, Affinity (indeed, they ARE they future, in my opinión, not only the present), there's Unwrap 3D, and several others (not many, is not a large collection) that add that essential edge/completeness for professional work. Clients very happy, so, is a matter of fact !
  2. Thanks for the big update! Great work! Unfortunately the new version does neither resolve this bug nor add this feature we are so desperately waiting for. Any timeline for that? Thank you Patrick
  3. Hey Arnold, If you send an email to affinityorders@serif.com someone should be able to give you an update on the status of your order. Please provide them with your email and shipping info in order to speed things up.
  4. Regarding delivery to Switzerland... I found the book on Amazon Germany and Amazon UK and they would both deliver to Switzerland, however they are asking much more than the price quoted by Affinity. I realise that this topic has been discussed (at length) already, but I wonder if there is any update? Amazon UK also include an Affinity Photo Workbook scheduled for October 2017. Will that have the same delivery restrictions? Thanks John
  5. As for the bugs, 1.6 will be available as a free update for those who purchased a previous version. Do keep in mind that there is an even later version than your purchase, but it is in beta. Once it is complete, you can update free of charge. If you would like to beta test the upcoming version and test how the nasty bugs have addressed, then you can do so here.
  6. Hi, I am John and an experienced hobbyist photographer,a past president of Rochdale Photographic Society and now president elect for the coming year. Just started using Affinity Photo as an alternative to PS and so far most impressed. Just would like it to work a bit faster on my Windows 10 PC, as even with a quad processor and 16GB DDR ram it is rather slow loading images and performing editing tasks. Hopefully something to be addresses in an update?
  7. I am having a few freezes with the newest update. I have not narrowed it down to any one thing I'm working on when the freeze happens. I am also having trouble getting a photo to appear when I use place. Sometimes one appears and sometimes it won't.
  8. Congratulations for the new update it looks awesome But I have a problem with the new photo chooser in the new update when I try to access a photo from my iPad photo library As now it's only limited to see the albums that created on the IPad so I can't pick a photo I synced from my pc any more. Please fix this As it was working fine in the old version Now it's like a downgrade for the photo chooser only Best regards
  9. Ah, what a great update. The portrait mode is very welcome. It's unfortunate that the photos 'picker' does not work for straight import from the photos app. My workflow like many others is to take shot raw files into photos on mobile and then need to select multiples into Affinity for editing and passback the .jpg exports. I am not looking to use Affinity as a DAM but rather a Lightroom replacement for batch editing/developing of photos. Would be excellent if this could happen. As it would be also great if there were a way to bypass the photo app and import raw files in batch direct from an SD card. The app does feel somewhat 'crippled' for many use cases without this. Loving every other thing about this app though. Thanks.
  10. Ok. Couldn't 'update' from App store. No update button. Even though I was on 1.6.2 Had to uninstall affinity photo, then reinstall. 1.6.3 Voila!
  11. Damn! And this update is only from 1.6.2 to 1.6 (point) 3? That’s a lot for one small point. I can imagine what 1.7 update will be. Probably stare at the app, and it will know what I want.
  12. Latest update contains a lot of stuff but unfortunately I have experienced a lot of crashes since I installed it earlier today. Most notable when doing smart selection and refining.
  13. Hiya! I'm Eeva from Finland. I've been working as graphic designer for 16 years and most of it as freelancer. I recently changed all my tools from Adobe to Affinity as the versions I had were getting old (CS4) and I didn't afford to update to the latest versions. Also it would have required total update of my hardware which I wasn't too keen on doing so I was more than happy when I found out about Affinity's tools. One happy camper over here :)
  14. FANTASTIC! So fast with the import raw files from photos update, now I can finally start trying out the app!
  15. I saw the event at work and saw the presentation of the app. I got home bought it downloaded and now I'm waiting for an update because its not working properly on the iPad Pro 9.7..Ain't that a b***h! I think we "your customers" deserve extra goodies if and when you have the update. cause for $20.00 and not working product its not looking good for you the developers.
  16. Sorry - ignore the RAW engine question - double checked on the Mac and believe there was an update to the Apple Core engine missing - the CR2s from the Canon G5 X are now loading without distortion.
  17. Hi Guys Thank You for Creating this Affordable applications We give you all the promotion we can :) it is running Nicely on Mac an Windows and the new iPad version runs like a charm on our iPad Pro when we change the language settings from Swedish to English Hopeful that you send an update to fix this crashing bug so that we can use a Swedish keyboard Regards Svendus https://youtu.be/j9jyvzY7RdY
  18. Affinity Designer for Windows 1.6.0 is now live (this is an older thread). We are pleased to announce the second update for Affinity Designer for Windows (version 1.5.3). The update can be downloaded from here. Once downloaded, close Affinity Designer and run (double click) the downloaded EXE to install it. A list of the fixes this release contains is being prepared and will be posted shortly. To install this version you will need to have the Affinity Designer for Windows already installed OR you will need to type in your email address and a valid Product key when prompted. When installing on top of an existing version you will not be prompted for the product key. If you need it you can find your product key (and a download button) in your Affinity store account, where you will also find the email address used to generate the key when you ordered the software. If you have installed any previous customer beta version of Affinity Designer 1.5.3, that beta can be safely uninstalled before or after installing this release update, they are independent installs. The beta will stop working soon anyway. Please report any problems you have installing or using this new version in the Windows forum here Patrick Connor The Affinity Team

  20. Affinity Photo 1.6.6 is now available on the Mac App Store. Affinity Photo 1.5.2 update now available on the Mac App Store Fixes include Fixed RAW / HDR on macOS 10.7, 10.8. Improved reliability of automatic lens corrections. Fixed some cosmetic stepper issues in Tone Mapping. Fixed a frequency separation crash in 32bit mode. Allow PSD import to skip over ‘psdM’ blocks. Fixed Undo Brush crashes. Fixed issues which could make the Library fail to load. Fixed a potential crash-on-close bug. Fixed a TIFF issue which was preventing people from working on existing documents, or loading some TIFF files properly. Fixed spelling issue that inserted the correctly spelt world without deleting the incorrect word. Numerous other stability improvements and fixes. Many thanks, Team Affinity
  21. Affinity Designer 1.6.0 update now available on the Mac App Store Affinity Designer 1.5.5 update now available on the Mac App Store Fixes include Reduce unwanted screen updates that caused visual artefacts when moving artboards around. Resolved issue with pixel layers inside symbols which are then transformed. Controversial change to pixel documents: 100% view now maps document pixels directly to screen pixels. If you have a retina Mac you will now see 100% view showing a pixel in the document on each pixel on your display. Wireframe view mode now allows the user to select locked items by click or marquee. Basically, if you're in wireframe view and you can see it, you can now click it to select it. This makes wireframe view much more useful for toggling on/off to select specific items in the document. With rulers visible and a high-frequency input device such as a pen tablet (or a mouse in macOS Sierra) the rulers would make the document update very slowly, this has been resolved. SVG export of gradients is now more compatible with QuickLook. Stability fixes for text. Fixed bug applying OpenType contextual rules. Fix for crashes with 32bit documents on Lion and Mountain Lion. Fix for right-clicking a text object in the Text tool failing to select the current word if the user is over the caret. Improved PSD import/export of HSL adjustments. Improved PSD import of fill layers with empty stroke masks and also parse line origination data. Import badly-formed PSD files created by Marmoset. Fix for occasional crash with embedded documents. PDF export fix for Overprint flag which was not getting unset at certain times, leading to items unintentionally overprinting. Fix for system chime noise when holding Cmd+Alt+Space. Fix for layers panel showing incorrect document information when changing from Separated window mode to normal mode if multiple documents are open. Fix for some images opening and saying they are 1dpi. Numerous other stability improvements and fixes. Many thanks, Team Affinity

  23. Hello, my name is Iain Harvie and have used Serif Programs and Applications for many years and have been extremely pleased at the choice, accuracy and value of all products. I hope this introduction is in the right section and I'm grateful for the opportunity to discuss my problem. When I saw Affinity Photo I bought and installed it straight away. Another wonderful App and of course I bought and downloaded Designer soon afterwards. However, when running the Designer installer it fails to install and there are no notifications after the initial Windows acknowledgement. I have tried downloading with three different browsers. I click acknowledgement to let the program make changes in Windows 10 [recently having installed the anniversary update] and Task Manager confirms that Affinity is running in the Background Processes but not that the Installer App is running and the process progression is stalled. After help from Affinity it was suggested that I leave the installation program running which I have done for many hours with no further response. I have tried stopping my Anti Virus during download and installation attempts and if it finds any problem with any new or updated programs it is set to ask whether it should be allowed to connect to the internet but no such warning is instigated with Designer. Has this problem been identified and solved by anyone else? I had no problems installing Photo on precisely the same system which meets all requirements. I would be extremely grateful for any help anyone may be able to give me and thanks very much in anticipation, Regards, Iain
  24. We usually do several updates a year. Since 1.5 was only launched in mid-November, there hasn't been enough time for a new update yet, especially as Windows was a new platform and had quite a few Windows-specific bugs (and we've the Christmas holidays in the middle). We did launch Photo for Windows in that period, so we have been busy. The beta for 1.6 should start within a month or so.
